Special invited guests, including his children Paris Jackson and Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr., aka Prince, gathered at the DAYLIGHT Beach Club following a performance of the critically acclaimed Michael Jackson ONE show at Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino.

Other invited guests included Michael’s older brothers Tito Jackson, left, and Jackie Jackson, right, actress Gabrielle Union, NBA star Blake Griffin, singer Tinashe, old skool rapper DJ Quik, actor David Arquette, actor Evan Ross and his wife Ashlee Simpson, actress Vanessa Hudgens, and more.

Paris, 20, and Prince, 21, accepted the 2018 Elizabeth Taylor Legacy Award presented to their father Michael Jackson posthumously for his humanitarian work with the Elizabeth Taylor AIDS Foundation. Elizabeth Taylor used to say, “What is a genius? What is a megastar? Michael Jackson, that’s all!
Prince wore a red band leader jacket, white t-shirt and black pants similar to the costume his father wore onstage during his concerts.

Prince and his uncle Jackie Jackson wore black sneakers, custom designed with the word “Tribute” embellished in crystals.
Famed radio DJ Sway Calloway of “Sway in the Morning” emceed the night which featured a surprise performance by singer Usher Raymond, and a guest DJ set by Mark Ronson.

Amber Rose revealed, I Aim to Date Narcissists

Amber Rose opened up about her tendency to date men with borderline personality disorders.

The former stripper — who is best known for dating Kanye West — made the revealing confession in an interview with Complex magazine’s Web series “Open Late With Peter Rosenberg“. The 34-year-old mother-of-one noted that the men she dated all seemed to share the same anti-social tendencies. 1. Narcissists compliment you excessively

2. Narcissists make extremely negative, disparaging comments about others or their co-workers

3. They lack empathy or compassion for the suffering of others

4. See themselves as perpetual victims (Narcissistic Injury)
Very early on in your relationship, usually within the first few hours, the narcissist will tell you a sad story about his/her childhood or their mistreatment at work by their boss or co-workers. The narcissist tells you these sad stories to gain sympathy from you which they will use later on to exploit you.

“My mom/dad/grandparent was so mean to me when I was young. They beat/starved me, they were nicer to my siblings than to me. It’s so unfair what they did/said. I will show them! They’re punishing me for being better than they will ever be!”
Pay close attention to your responses and how you feel around him/her. Pay attention to your words, particularly these responses: “I’m sorry to hear that”, “I’m sorry that happened to you”, “That must have been a hard time for you.”

5. He/she is too good to be true
This person is so nice to you, you feel extremely loved and flattered. You may feel euphoric when you’re with him/her. He/she almost seems too good to be true. That’s a warning sign, because people who excessively flatter you are often not who they seem.

6. Gaslight you and make you feel inadequate
Some narcissists will build you up only to tear you down to shake your confidence in yourself and make you feel self doubt. They are like experienced hunters and you are their prey. They are experts at making you believe you can’t survive without them.

7. Love talking about themselves
The narcissist’s favorite subject is himself. He pretends to be interested in you, but he always steers the conversation back to himself.

8. Blame others for their problems
Narcissists tend to look for easy targets to blame for their problems. They avoid accepting responsibility for their bad behavior because it reminds them of their own inadequacy or lack of self worth.

9. Narcissists have short memories
Narcissists are quick to forget their bad behavior. If you remind them of their bad behavior, they will deny the incident ever happened. PDP Leadership asks Aminu Tambuwal, Atiku, Kwankwaso and others to accept primary’s outcome

In a bid to have a rancour - free presidential primary, the national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party met with its presidential aspirants in Abuja on Wednesday night.

The PDP team was led by its National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus.

Other members of the party’s National Working Committee and some members of the Board of Trustees were also in attendance .
Present at the meeting were the President of the Senate , Dr Bukola Saraki; a former Vice- President , Atiku Abubakar; a former governor of Plateau State , Jona Jang; Sokoto State Governor , Aminu Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto State , Attahiru Bafarawa and a former Chairman of the PDP Caretaker Committee , Ahmed Makarfi .

Also in attendance were a former governor of Kano State , Rabiu Kwankwaso and a former Minister of Special Duties and Inter Governmental Relations , Alhaji Kabir Tanimu Turaki (SAN ).
Absent from the meeting were Ahmed Datti , Gombe State Governor , Ibrahim Dankwanbo and a former governor of Jigawa State , Alhaji Sule Lamido.

The meeting was held behind closed door. It was gathered that Secondus told the aspirants that the party would conduct a free , fair and credible primary. He was also said to have assured them that the NWC had no favourable aspirants among them, adding that the primary aim of the party was to sack the All Progressives Congress ’ Federal Government in 2019 .

He told them that the party and others leaders in the country would want the aspirants to cooperate with whoever emerged as the party’s candidate at the October 6 national convention.
A source at the meeting said, “Secondus, in his opening remark, thanked the aspirants for having confidence in the party and its national leadership .
“He also asked them to say whatever they have in mind and suggest to the party, areas they felt that the NWC should work on in order to have a credible primary. ”
Sources at the meeting told our correspondent that the aspirants demanded a free and transparent primary.

They were said to have also said that they would “cooperate with anyone that emerges so far the process is credible, free and fair . “
Speaking with our correspondent on the outcome of the meeting , Secondus said he assured the aspirants of the party at all levels that there would be free, fair and transparent primaries where the delegates’ decision would prevail .
“Let me tell you that we the members of the NWC are assuring all aspirants of our party that the era of impunity or imposition is over in the party as a rebranded PDP under my watch would ensure transparency and fairness for all ,” he added.

Secondus appealed to the aspirants to work harmoniously among themselves in the interest of the party “ since it is only one person that will get the slot at the end of the day. ” He said, “ I told them that we must not forget to put the will of God in all we do bearing in mind that nobody gets power unless as designed and approved by God.
“We are proud of all our aspirants, all of them are eminently qualified to rule this country and if we work in harmony we would chase away the APC out of the Aso Rock Villa by 2019. ”

NEWS - APC NEC has adopts direct presidential primary, indirect for gov, others

The National Executive Committee of the All Progressives Congress has adopted the direct primary method for the selection of its presidential candidate .

It also agreed that states should adopt the mode of primary that best suits their peculiarities from among the methods specified in the party’s constitution.

The party however said states that would adopt the direct primary method should notify the national secretariat in writing before doing so. This was part of the resolutions reached by the party’ s second highest decision- making body after its NEC meeting in Abuja on Thursday.

Plateau State Governor , Simon Lalong, who briefed the media after the meeting , noted that the party’s constitution provides for direct, indirect and consensus as methods through which candidates can emerge.
He said, “The constitution of the party provides for either direct, indirect or consensus but for the presidential election we all agreed that we will adopt direct primaries for the presidential election .
“Also a recommendation was made by the National Working Committee that the other states should adopt the indirect mode but there may be situations that this might be a difficulty in the state looking at their peculiarities . So , if there are such difficulties they can apply following the process . ”
While responding to a question on whether the issue of automatic tickets was discussed , he said, “We didn ’t discuss the issue of automatic ticket . But we discussed that yes, patriotic and loyal members should be rewarded but not necessarily with automatic ticket . We are saying some senators , our senators who are patriotic , who are supposed to be taken away were all kept in the party.

“So , all states should look at and then we will find ways of rewarding them. But election is giving option for everybody to contest election . ”
He revealed that the decision about the costs of nomination and expression of interest forms was referred to the party’ s NWC to decide but that it was generally agreed that it should be reasonable .
Also speaking on the issue of automatic tickets , the Kogi State Governor , Yahaya Bello , said, “People refer to issue of automatic ticket to governors and legislators . In our party, we have a reward system.
“You surely will not throw away a loyal party man . You will not punish a loyal party man . We will always support and reward those legislators who were supposed to have been taken away in a deceitful manner but stood by Mr President , with this country, those that are patriotic to this party and this country surely will be rewarded in one way or the other . ”

He explained that the membership registration would be intensified to provide a reliable data- base for the conduct of the direct primary to select the presidential standard bearer .

Chief Ikedi Ohakim, 15 billionaires to fund Ojukwu’s widow’s election

A former governor of Imo State , Chief Ikedi Ohakim , has said no fewer than 15 Igbo billionaires had been mobilised to fund the senatorial race of the widow of late Igbo leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Ojukwu , Bianca Ojukwu .

He said “Those who are contesting the poll with the wife of our leader may have the money and wherewithal to muzzle down Bianca but they don ’ t have the same integrity ..“Bianca Ojukwu is not an ordinary human being, she is a spirit . She has double - barreled identity and double -barreled legacy .
“We have mobilised 15 Igbo billionaires to sponsor her ambition and over 25 , 000 youths to work for her . ”

He enjoined the people of Anambra State not to disappoint the Igbo race in the Bianca project.
He added, “The people of Imo , Abia, Ebonyi, Enugu , have asked me to beg you (Anambra ) to accomplish this mission and project in memory of our great leader , Dim Chkwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu .
“ Ojukwu sacrificed his Oxford education , his personal comfort, his father’s wealth to save the Igbo race at the most auspicious time” .
Bianca said she was going to the Senate to accomplish the dream of her late husband of giving the Igbo a voice in national polity .

She said, “APGA and Igbo interests run in my veins and blood ; and I have a kindred obligation to defend it and that ’ s why I ’m going to the Senate. The Ojukwu dream must not die. We can’ t abandon Ojukwu . ”

Bianca , a former Ambassador of Nigeria to Spain would contest the Anambra South Senatorial poll on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance . Her late husband led APGA for over a decade during his lifetime, and was at several times the presidential candidate of the party.

“It was a false alarm which was good news for Tiny. While she would love more kids with T.I., the timing could not be worse for her to be pregnant again. She is super busy with work and has enough to worry about with little Heiress in her terrible twos and the rest of her kids.”

It turns out T.I. had a very different reaction to the pregnancy scare. “T.I., however, was crushed when he found out Tiny was not expecting again,” the source continued. “He went from being super happy and excited about being a dad again to sad during the emotional week. He loves kids and wants as many as possible. He was sweet to Tiny, consoled her and told her they better get back to work trying to make kids again ASAP.”

Tiny and T.I.’s love for each other seems stronger than ever despite their separation. They recently celebrated their 8th wedding anniversary and you wouldn’t know they are estranged from the way they treat each other.

POLITICS: Kayode Fayemi, APC hire 35 lawyers for defence

The Governor - elect of Ekiti State , Dr . Kayode Fayemi, on Wednesday filed his defence to the petition by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party and outgoing Deputy Governor of Ekiti State , Prof. Kolapo Olusola.

The defence team , comprised of 35 lawyers, would be led by eight Senior Advocates of Nigeria .
The SANs are Prince Lateef Fagbemi, Chief Akin Olujimi, Jelili Owonikoko, John Baiyeshea , Segun Ajibola , Mr Hakeem AfoIabi , Mr . Yomi Aliyu and Dr . Kayode Olatoke.
In the 2 ,558 - page defence with over 3 ,000 documents as exhibits , Fayemi averred that he won the gubernatorial election of July 14 , 2018 and urged the tribunal to dismiss Olusola’s petition for lacking in merit .

The team of lawyers armed with 3 ,500 exhibits and 1 , 009 witnesses were led to the tribunal by three Senior Advocates of Nigeria :
Addressing the press after filing the petition, Olatoke who spoke on behalf of his colleagues , said Olusola’s petition was a waste of time as it lacked substance and was sure that the case would be dismissed by the tribunal .
He explained further that Fayemi won fair and square in 12 out of the 16 local government areas of the state, while Olusola won in four .
Olatoke dismissed Olusola ’s claim of over voting in some polling units as frivolous and baseless .

He said Eleka ’ s first ground in his petition was based on Fayose’s phantom indictment , which had been nullified and set aside by a competent court.
“The second ground of Eleka ’s (Olusola) petition is alleged over voting, which is another false claim. In any case , the petition in itself is self- defeating.
“ The third ground is on deliberate voiding of votes as alleged by Eleka but in actual fact, majority of the voided ballots were votes meant for Fayemi, while the fourth ground is on vote- buying which is baseless as it was, Eleka ’s sponsor, Fayose that was guilty of this .

“Fayemi won convincingly based on his popularity ,” Olatoke said.
No date has been fixed for hearing.

BUSINESS: CBN fines four banks totalling N5.8bn, orders lenders, MTN to refund $8.1bn

The Central Bank of Nigeria has imposed heavy fines totalling N 5 . 87 bn on four banks under its regulatory purview for alleged illegal funds repatriation.

It also directed the managements of the banks and MTN Nigeria Communications Limited to immediately refund to the apex bank $ 8 , 134 ,312 , 397 . 63 , which was said to have been illegally repatriated by the company.

A statement from the CBN on Wednesday said it asked the banks and MTN to refund money for what it described as ‘ flagrant violation of extant laws and regulations of the Federal Republic of Nigeria , including the Foreign Exchange (Monitoring and Miscellaneous Provisions) Act , 1995 of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the Foreign Exchange Manual, 2006 ’.
The four banks that came under the sledge hammer of the CBN for the violations are Standard Chartered Bank, Stanbic- IBTC , Citibank and Diamond Bank.

The Director , Corporate Communications, CBN , Isaac Okorafor, said that the actions of the bank became necessary following allegations of remittance of foreign exchange with irregular Certificates of Capital Importation issued on behalf of some offshore investors of MTN Nigeria Communications Limited and subsequent investigations carried out by the apex bank in March 2018.

“The CBN has therefore asked the managements of the banks and MTN Nigeria Communications Limited to immediately refund the sum of $ 8 , 134 ,312 , 397 . 63 , illegally repatriated by the company to the coffers of the Central Bank of Nigeria ,” it stated .

Figures obtained from the CBN on Wednesday indicated that the highest fine of N 2 . 47 bn was slammed on Standard Chartered Bank, while Stanbic IBTC Nigeria was fined N 1 . 885 bn .
Citibank Nigeria was penalised to the tune of N 1 . 265 bn , just as Diamond Bank was directed to pay N 250 m for violating extant rules .
The CBN spokesman further disclosed that the decision of the bank followed its thorough investigations into the allegations .
Okorafor said the investigations revealed that the sum of $ 3 . 448 bn was repatriated by Standard Chartered Bank on the basis of the illegally issued CCIs .
Similarly, he added that the sums of $ 2 . 632 bn , $ 1 . 766 bn and $ 348 . 914 m were repatriated by Stanbic IBTC Nigeria , Citibank Nigeria and Diamond Bank Plc, respectively between 2007 and 2015.
He said the CBN had directed the affected banks to immediately refund the respective sums to the CBN.

“The CBN’ s investigation further revealed that on account of illegal conversion of MTN shareholders’ loan to preference shares (interest free loan ) of $ 399 , 594 ,146 . 00 , the sum of $ 8 ,134 , 312 ,397 . 63 was illegally repatriated by the company,” the statement said.
He said that the investigations by the CBN took a while in order to carry out thorough inquiry and give a fair hearing to all parties involved .
Okorafor advised all banks and multinational companies in Nigeria to adhere strictly to the provisions of all extant laws and regulations of Nigeria in their foreign exchange transactions .

Lagos State Government - LAKE Rice is now available in a crash prices

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said LAKE Rice was now available at retail outlets , markets, super markets and stores across the state.

The Commissioner for Agriculture , Mr Oluwatoyin Suarau, who stated this while reviewing distribution report of the product , said the government flooded the state with bags of the rice because of skyrocketing prices of other rice products in the market, adding that the government would ensure all year round availability of LAKE Rice at affordable prices .

He said, “It is in a bid to ensure availability of LAKE Rice product in every part of Lagos that the government sought the participation of major rice distributors , shopping malls and supermarkets in the distribution of the product . ”

The commissioner said the product would continue to maintain its quality and price and would always go through different quality analysis assessments before being released to the market for consumption.
“The ultimate goal of the government is to stop importation of rice and ensure that only locally- produced rice is consumed by residents .
“The rice which is packaged in 50 kilogrammes , 25 kg and 10 kg bags is still being offered for sale to residents at N 12 ,000 , N 6 ,000 and N 2 , 500 respectively.
Suraru stated that various measures had been put in place to protect the price and avoid adulteration so that the aim of the government in ensuring availability and affordability of the product would not be defeated.

Emmanuel Uduaghan Revealed Why He dumped PDP for APC

The immediate past governor of Delta State , Dr . Emmanuel Uduaghan, who has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party for the ruling All Progressives Congress , said he ditched his former party owing to President Muhammadu Buhari ’ s “passionate” interest for the development of the Niger Delta region .

Uduaghan in a statement made available to our correspondent on Wednesday morning and titled “Moving On To The Bigger Playing Field”, the former governor noted that despite Buhari inability to score the required 25 per cent in the 2015 election in the region , he has given direct focus to the development of the region . While listing some of the development efforts by Buhari ’s government, Uduaghan said, “Since the inception of the current All Progressives Congress , APC, administration at the federal level, there has been an encouraging interest and activities by President Muhammadu Buhari to bring a permanent solution to the Niger Delta crisis .

This has pointed in a direction that is at once progressive and developmental.
“Topmost in these activities are the ‘Engagement Processes . ’ Rather than using the military to harass our people , the Buhari administration has embarked on various engagement processes that have led to agreements and brought hope to the people of the Niger Delta . In the last years , Mr . President has personally engaged several regional leaders and youths . Senior officials of his administration also engaged many Niger Delta leaders and youths .

“Very significant is that Mr . President mandated the Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo SAN , to visit virtually all the oil producing states, engaging various stakeholders . This is unprecedented in the history of the region . Such engagement processes have brought some measure of peace in the Niger Delta. Things can only get better . ”
The former governor who is contesting the Delta South Senatorial District in 2019 , called on leaders in region to support efforts being made by the present administration to bring lasting peace to the area , adding that his defection to the APC was to offer such support .

“In this era of partisan politics, it is necessary for the people of the Niger Delta, and Delta State in particular, to identify more with the Federal Government led by the APC. By so doing, we can push some of the agreements between our leaders and the Federal Government through, and also engage the government to do more . Politics is about interests .

“The Niger Delta is a major area of interest for me , because I staked my life going into the creeks severally without security and sometimes coming back at night negotiating peace. I will, therefore, give the strongest support to any President that shows commitment in the affairs of the Niger Delta. I call on , and enjoin, other well- meaning leaders in the region , who have very useful contributions to make, to come on board and join hands in helping this Federal Government to pursue a robust development agenda that would uplift our people . Whatever milestone that appears not to have been achieved yet is not for lack of efforts. Joining hands with and supporting the process will lead to a faster delivery on expectations .

“ It is in the pursuit of this noble objective that I ’m offering myself to help drive a process that would give the lives of our people in the Niger Delta more meaning . President Muhammadu Buhari needs people who will join hands with him to uplift our people . From my political experience , you have to be well represented and actively so at the “board room ” when decisions are being taken. Delta State must be well represented . Niger Delta must be well represented ” the statement added.

Uduaghan, who thanked leaders and members of his former party for urging him to stay , added that he prayed fervently divine direction before agreeing to leave the PDP where he served as commissioner, Secretary to the State Government and two- term as a governor .

“I have, therefore, after series of consultations and prayers, taken the decision to leave the PDP and join the APC. In doing this , I want to thank the numerous leaders , supporters and interest groups that have been urging me to remain in PDP . EXCLUSIVE: Joseph Tegbe resolved matters between Governor Abiola Ajimobi and Yinka Ayefele

Following the controversy over the partial demolition of Yinka Ayefele’s Music House in Ibadan, Oyo state gubernatorial aspirant, Mr Joseph Tegbe waded into the matter, seeking a civil resolution.

The partial demolition of radio station on Sunday, 19 September by the Oyo State government generated much public outcry as it seemed as if the State governor, His Excellency Abiola Ajimobi was personally involved in the matter.
While the state government has insisted that the popular entertainer did break the law because he started his radio station with out relevant approval by the government, many were not satisfied with the explanation.

Ayefele approached the court on the issue and hearing has been fixed for September 12, 2018.
However, last week Thursday, Mr. Tegbe led the musician to Governor’s Office for a meeting that he facilitated. From immediate observations when it was concluded, it seemed to have yielded fruits of an amicable resolution. Governor Ajimobi and Yinka Ayefele came out of the meeting looking pleased. Leaders of Accord Party warns Doyin Okupe to stop parading self as South-West leader

Chairmen and leaders of Accord party in the South- West have warned Dr. Doyin Okupe to desist from parading himself as leader of the party in the zone.

The party gave the warning in the communique issued at the end of its meeting in Ibadan on Tuesday .
The communique stated that the party in the South- West viewed a purported meeting organised by Doyin Okupe as of no effect and people that attended have no locus standi to do so on behalf of the party.

” Action is going on to identify erring party members who were at the meeting with Okupe and sanctions are awaiting them at the zonal level . ’’ It said that it was untrue that its National Secretary, Mrs . Adebukola Ajaja and National Vice - Chairman, South- West, Alhaji Dokun Babarinnde, attended Okupe’s meeting .

”The Accord Southwest is one and indivisible under the leadership of Alhaji Dotun Babatunde and other national officers from the zone ,” the party stated . The communique stated that all representatives of the party in the region had agreed that the anti - party activities of Okupe would be reported to the national body of the party for further actions .

Isaac Adeniyi , Chairman, Board of Trustees of the party, had expressed concern over the anti - party activities of Okupe and urged the party’s leadership in the South- West to treat the report with urgency . Adeniyi informed party members and state executive that Okupe, with some unknown persons held a meeting in Ogun where he declared himself as the leader of the party in the South- West.

Representatives of the party in states in the zone , including Chief Kayode Ojo (Ondo), Alhaji Muda Ogunsola (Oyo), Isiaka Amusa (Ogun ), Alhaji Abdulrahman Opawuyi (Osun) and Mr Rotimi Ajibola (Lagos) attended the meeting .

Nigerian superstar singer Davido might be joining his Compatriots in NYSC orientation camp soon, as a viral video shared by Tunde Ednut revealed he just registered for the national youth program.

Tunde Ednut who shared the video, alleged that Davido might be going for his service year because he wants to build a political career. He wrote;

David Adedeji Adeleke aka Davido was born on November 21, 1992. Now he uses the stage name Davido and is known better as an American-born Nigerian recording artist, record producer, and performer. His music is not only popular in the USA, but in his motherland Nigeria as well. The singer and producer was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

His father came to the USA from Nigeria and became a business magnate. His mother was a lecturer in the local university.
There is not a lot of information about Davido’s childhood or his first steps into the music career. However, we know that prior to starting his career, Davido went to the university. He chose a major connected with business and studied Business Administration at Oakwood University.

Eventually, he returned to Nigeria in 2011, and at that point, he started his music career for real. But due to father’s pressure, he still had to enroll in university, but this time to one in Nigeria. In July 2015, Davido earned a Music degree from Babcock University and successfully graduated. Fulfilling one of the major prerequisite for the completion of his programme, the talented artiste wrote a thesis on the topic:

‘Challenges of Live performance of Afro-pop artists in Nigeria’.
In 2011, Davido started to work on his debut studio album – Omo Baba Olowo. His first musical recording “Back When” was released on May 7, 2011. He not only recorded the song but produced them as well. The album earned a big attention from the public.

EXCLUSIVE: INEC has submitted details of adjusted N143bn 2019 election budget

The Independent National Electoral Commission has submitted its recommended adjustments to the 2019 election budget as requested by the National Assembly Joint Committee on INEC.

INEC submitted the fresh proposals to the committee via a written correspondence in Abuja , on Tuesday. Chairman of the joint committee , Suleiman Nazif , said this before the meeting went into a closed- door session which began at 2 : 18 pm and ended at about 3 : 34 pm.

After the meeting , Nazif told reporters that the joint committee has set up an ad - hoc committee made up of committee members to look at the details submitted by INEC and report back at 4 : 00 pm on Wednesday . The INEC made submissions based on the N 143 bn as requested by President Muhammadu Buhari . via Punchng

EXCLUSIVE: Nigeria’s problem not about restructuring, says VP, Yemi Osinbajo

Vice- President Yemi Osinbajo says the problems facing Nigeria are not about restructuring as being suggested in many quarters .
He also wondered how past Nigerian leaders , including a military dictator , Ibrahim Babangida; former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former President Goodluck Jonathan, spent the oil revenues that accrued to the country during their administrations .

According to a statement on Monday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity , Mr Laolu Akande, the Vice- President said these while answering questions from Nigerians at a town hall meeting in Minnesota, the United States of America , on Sunday. Osinbajo said Nigeria ’ s problems were not about geographical restructuring but about proper management of the country ’s resources .

He said, “ The problem with our country is not a matter of restructuring and we must not allow ourselves to be drawn into the argument that our problems stem from some geographical restructuring . It is about managing resources properly and providing for the people properly, that is what it is all about .

“I served for eight years as Attorney General in Lagos State and one of the chief issues that we fought for in Lagos State was what you call fiscal federalism. We felt that there was a need for the states to be stronger, for states, to more or less , determine their fortunes.
“So , for example , we went to court to contest the idea that every state should control , to a certain extent , its own resources (the so - called resource control debate). We were in court at that time up to the Supreme Court and the court ruled that oil -producing states should continue to get 13 per cent derivation.

“While we were at the Supreme Court only the oil - producing states and Lagos were interested in resource control, everybody else was not interested in resource control for obvious reasons .
“ Now , that is the way the argument has always gone . Those who have the resources want to take all of it, while those who do not have want to share from others. ”
Osinbajo said his view was that the government must create an environment that would allow people to realise their economic potential.

In June , Osinbajo had said that the present administration was not opposed to restructuring as being canvassed in many quarters .
Osinbajo stated this while addressing traditional rulers from Ekiti State at the palace of the Ewi of Ado - Ekiti , Oba Rufus Adejugbe , ahead of the governorship election in the state .
He had said, “ I want to say that this country is strongest, this country is best when we are one , when we are united . It is a united country that can make a difference.
“We are fully in support of any form of restructuring that benefits the people of our country .

“That is why , for example, the President just signed this into law , a bill which enables Houses of Assembly to be autonomous ; so that their finances are autonomous . This is some form of devolution of powers .
“We are also keenly supportive of anything that gives a measure of independence for states so that the states can realise their own potential and do very well for themselves in every way . The President is keenly supportive of all of those things.
In August last year, Osinbajo also denied media reports that quoted him as describing proponents of restructuring as political jobbers.
He then went ahead to describe the restructuring debate as an important one .

A statement by his spokesman then read , “Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN , has expressed surprise at the news report quoting Chief Ayo Adebanjo as saying he described those agitating for restructuring as political jobbers.
“At no time did the acting President say that those asking for restructuring were political jobbers looking for appointments . The video, audio tapes and full text of his speech at the National Security summit organised last week by the Department of State Services , are publicly available . ”
“Besides , the debate on restructuring is an important one and the calls for restructuring cover a wide range of legitimate and constitutionally valid issues . Indeed all Nigerians have both a right and a duty to advance their arguments on the subject. ”
While relying on the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ statistics on oil revenues accruable to Nigeria under successive administrations between 1990 and 2014, the Vice - President said not much had been done in terms of infrastructure development despite the huge oil revenues realised by the country.

Osinbajo said, “Under the IBB /Abacha administrations (1990 – 1998), Nigeria realised $ 199 . 8 bn.
“Under the Obasanjo / Yar’Adua governments (1999 - 2009 ), the country got $ 401 . 1 bn.
“During the Jonathan administration (2010- 2014 ), Nigeria got $ 381 . 9 bn from oil revenues .
“The question that we must all ask is that what exactly happened to resources ? The question that I asked is that where is the infrastructure?

“When added together , the oil revenues that accrued to the country under IBB , Obasanjo , Yar’Adua and Jonathan amounted to $ 982 . 8 bn
“One of the critical things that we must bear in mind and see is that this government, despite earning $ 94 bn , up until 2017 , we are spending more on infrastructure and capital than any previous government. So , we are spending N 1 . 5 trn on capital. That is the highest we have spent since 1990. ”
