Exclusively, Selena Gomez says she wants someone to love her for who she is

American singer and actress, Selena Gomez, who has suffered a series of breakups, has now admitted she would want someone to ‘love her for the person she is.

The 26-year-old ‘Back To You’ singer made her intention known on the Dream It Real podcast on Wednesday. 

Selenatold the show’s host, Heben Nigatu, that she often feels misjudged when it comes to her heart.

She said: ‘I think that a lot of people don’t understand my heart, you know?’

‘I also don’t like that, it can sometimes be about appearance, too. I don’t really appreciate people judging me on my looks, or anything like that.’

Due to all that judgement and misunderstanding, Selena said she desires someone who will love her for who she truly is.

‘I just think that the world today, with so much exposure to everything… it’s great to dress up and to feel beautiful and to do those things, but…and I’m flattered when, maybe, guys are like, ‘You’re pretty,’ I am, it’s just not… I would just love someone to love me for the person that I am. That’s just what’s important to me,’ she said.

In 2018, Selena had a rocky relationship with her on again, off again boyfriend, Justin Bieber who left her and got married to Hailey Baldwin.

That split followed her relationship with The Weeknd, who both also broke up. The singer has since moved on with his on and off partner, Bella Hadid.

Selena Gomez reportedly suffered an ’emotional breakdown’ in the hospital after being treated for a low white blood cell count in the wake of receiving a kidney transplant last year.

Selena Gomez, 26, was reportedly hospitalized twice in the past two weeks and is now being treated at a mental health facility, following an intense, “emotional breakdown”, according to TMZ.

Sources told the outlet that the singer first checked into a hospital during the last week of September after she was at her home in Studio City, CA and suddenly had an alarmingly low white blood cell count due to the kidney transplant she received last year. She was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles for the incident and was released days later, but had to be re-admitted late last week when the low blood cell count reoccured.During her second hospital visit, Selena allegedly wanted to leave and when doctors didn’t let her, she spiraled into her “emotional breakdown”. Sources explainedthat she had a total “meltdown” and “freaked out” in the hospital and even tried to rip the IVs out of her arm.

Selena is now reportedly in an East Coast psychiatric facility where she is receiving dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), which she’s received in the past.Signs of the trouble ahead may have been present over the past few weeks. Sources continued to tellTMZthat there’s been no contact from her team since last month and on Sept. 23, Selena, herself, announced that she was taking a break from social media. “Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings. The mansion also reportedly has private lake access, a two-story temperature controlled wine room, a private gym, and heated floors. It’s unclear whether this will become Justin and Hailey ‘s main place of residence or if they’re just looking to use it as a vacation home. Believe it or not, The Weeknd's latest studio album wasn't supposed to be so melancholy.

The R&B star confessed he wrote and recorded an entire album of "upbeat" songs that was eventually scrapped because it was from a "different time" in his life when he was actually happy.

He revealed to TIME :
"Prior to Melancholy, I had a whole album written, done, which wasn't melancholy at all because it was a different time in my life. It was very upbeat — it was beautiful."

Now, who on earth could we blame for such a change of heart? Selena Gomez , of course!
As you know, the two dated for over eight months before splitting last October — months before Abel Tesfaye released My Dear Melancholy , an album full of breakup songs, in March 2018.

While The Weeknd says he's "moved past" that chapter of his life, he says he never EVER wants to sing about it again, adding:

"I don't want to perform something that I don't feel… I don't want to open that Pandora's box, talking about relationships.
But he did say the recording process was "therapeutic":

"You want to get it out. It's like you close a chapter."

Selena Gomez 's mother Mandy Teefey is "not happy" about the singer's renewed romance with Justin Bieber but is not interfering in her daughter's life.

The two rekindled their romance late last year. In December, a source told E! News that Gomez's family is "not happy" about her relationship with Justin and is worried about the "Come and Get It" singer, who had a secret kidney transplant over the summer, and her notorious ex, who she dated on and off for three years until their 2014 split.

On Saturday, GossipCop , known for debunking celebrity news reports, posted an interview with Gomez's mother. The website quoted Teefey as saying she is "not happy" with her daughter and Bieber's latest reunion, but says, "Selena can live her life however she wants as long as she is happy, safe and healthy."
Gomez's rep had no immediate comment about the reported remarks by Teefey.

"She is 25 years old and knows what is at stake with her health. I do not control her the way it has been portrayed," GossipCop quoted Gomez's mother as saying. "Selena is an adult and can make her own choices."
Also in December, another source signaled to E! News that Gomez's relationship with her mom was strained long before Bieber re-entered her life.

GossipCop said Gomez's mother denied that a rift widened when she and her husband stopped managing the singer's career in 2014.
"Every mother and daughter has disagreements," the website quoted Teefey as saying.
