Exclusive - Janet Jackson breaks her silence on Michael Jackson's Legacy after the release of Leaving Neverland documentary

Janet Jackson has finally broken her silence on Micheal Jackson's legacy after the release of 'Leaving Neverland' documentary which included allegations of sexual assault on minors by the late Pop King.

 

The 53-year-old singer and mother of one spoke with The Sunday Times, and opened up about the legacy left behind by her brother as she confronts the sexual allegations against the legendary musician and performer

 

Speaking about her brother’s legacy to the outlet, she said: 

 

“[His legacy] will continue. I love it when I see kids emulating him, when adults still listen to his music. It just lets you know the impact that my family has had on the world. I hope I’m not sounding arrogant in any way. I’m just stating what is. It’s really all God’s doing, and I’m just thankful for that.”

 

In the interview,  Janet avoided making comments on 'Leaving Neverland', despite previous reports that she reportedly opted out of performing at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony because it airs on HBO, the same network that aired the Leaving Neverland' documentary.

Janet Jackson honored her brother
Michael Jackson on his 60th birthday (Aug. 29) by recreating his star-studded music video for his hit song “Remember the Time” (released in 1992).

The 52-year-old pop icon teamed with Instagram comedians Kwaylon Rogers and King Bach to recreate “Remember the Time” to honor her older brother. Michael died of a drug overdose at age 50 in his Holmby Hills, CA mansion on June 25, 2009.
In the original music video, directed by John Singleton in 1992, Michael plays a talented palace performer who risks losing his head if he doesn’t entertain the easily bored queen (played by supermodel Iman ).

When the queen takes a sudden romantic interest in the charming Michael, her furious husband (played by Eddie Murphy ) orders his head chopped off.

But Michael gives Magic Johnson and his goons the slip, while setting the stage for one of the greatest dance sequences in music video history. The original music video was inspired by Eddie Murphy’s 1988 comedy film Coming to America.

Ciara Wilson presented Janet Jackson with the prestigious Rock Star Award at the 2018 Black Girls Rock! Show at NJPAC in New Jersey on Sunday, August 26.

Ciara couldn’t contain her excitement as she shared the same stage as the pop icon.
“Janet to me is one of the most valuable artists of all time. Everything she does is perfection. It says a lot to me. It says you gotta care. You gotta give 100% every time. You gotta show up every time,” Ciara said.

The “Level Up” singer wore a Balmain gown, while Janet, 52, graced the red carpet in a pouffy, embroidered Christian Siriano original from his Fall/Winter 2018 line.

Janet told the audience: “Black women rock now more than ever, and girls, all I can say is rock on.”
Ciara took to Instagram to share her excitement with her followers.
