Actor, Wale Adebayo - I Relocated To US Because Acting Didn’t WorkFor Me

Nollywood Actor, Wale Adebayo, popularly known as Sango, has opened up on the reason why he left Nigeriafor the United States of America and it was simply because he wasn’t getting enough out of acting.In a chat with Sunday Scoop, the actor stated that he didn’t wish to relocate to the United States of Americaat the time he did, but his living condition and that of his family was already deteriorating and so he didn’t have any option but to seek greener pasture.

He said:“For me, relocating to America wasn’t by choice; thesituation of Nigeria played a huge factor in it. At somepoint, I told myself that I had a family to feed and theindustry wasn’t as favorable as it should be. I stoppedthinking about myself alone and the need to save my acting career. I wanted to do something for my kids.”Adebayo added that after relocating to America, he ventured into something new. He stated,“It wasn’t easy for me to leave what I enjoyed doing for another life in America. But the most important thing is that I am not where I was four or seven years ago. I am in a better place now and my family is more comfortable.”The Yoruba actor also lamented that it was quite disheartening that despite the effort he put into his acting career, he didn’t get the best from it.

He said:“I did everything to make a living out of acting but itjust didn’t work for me. That is why I respect the likes of Richard Mofe Damijo, Ramsey Nouah, Kate Henshaw and Sola Sobowale. Even when they disappearedfrom the scene for some years, it seemed they never left once they returned. I call it grace. I have also learned that an actor should never relax even though he has made a huge impact.”

Turkish club, Fenerbahce to sign Chelsea star Fabregas

Turkish club Fenerbahce has entered the race to sign Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas, according to the report.

The Spanish midfielder is ready to leave the Chelsea as the club is unwilling to offer him a two-year contract at the Stamford Bridge as they refuse to by-pass their policy of offering a 12-month deal to players that are above the age of 30.

Usher and Grace announced their separation in March -- after the singer was sued by several people claiming he exposed them to the herpes virus.

Shehu Usman Shagari was born in 1925 in Shagari village founded by his great -grandfather , Ahmadu Rufa ’ i , who was also the Village Head , and took the name Shagari as his family name . His father ’ s name was Aliyu and his mother ’ s name was Mariamu .
Shagari started his education in a Quranic school and then went to live with relatives at a nearby town , where , between 1931 and 1935 , he attended Yabo Elementary School ; and between 1936 and 1940 , he went to Sokoto for middle school , and then from 1941 -1944 , he attended Kaduna College.
Between 1944 and 1952 , Shagari attended the Teacher Training College, in Zaria , Kaduna State ;and from 1953 -1958 , he worked as a visiting teacher at Sokoto Province .
He was also a member of the Federal Scholarship Board from 1954 -1958 .

According to the Wiki citation on him, the late ex -president entered politics in 1951 when he became the secretary of the Northern People’ s Congress in Sokoto , Nigeria , a position he held until 1956 .
General Olusegun Obasanjo, who was military Head of State had handed over to Shagari in 1979 , and he was in office till 1983 .

Between 1959 and 1960 , Shagari was made the Federal Minister for Economic Development . Between 1960 and 1962 , he was moved to the Pensions Ministry as the Federal Minister for Pensions .

From 1962 -1965 , he became the Federal Minister for Internal Affairs . And from 1965 up until the first military coup in January 1966 , Shagari was the Federal Minister for Works.
In 1967 , he was appointed the Secretary for Sokoto Province Education Development Fund . From 1968 -1969 , he served as Commissioner for Establishments .
After the civil war , from 1970 -1971 , he was appointed by then military head of state Gen . Yakubu Gowon as the federal Commissioner for Economic Development , Rehabilitation and Reconstruction .
In 1978 , he became a founding member of the National Peoples Party . In 1979 , Shagari was chosen by the party as the presidential candidate for general election that year, which he won, becoming the president .

Shagari ran for a second four -year term in 1983 and won the general election . However , on 31 December 1983 , he was overthrown by then Maj . -Gen . Muhammadu Buhari .
He was Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic , GCFR .

32 year old electrician was arrested for power sub-station vandalism

A 32-year-old electrician, Osita Anazodo, popularly called Ezebinagbo, has been arrested for allegedly vandalizing a 300KVA distribution substation belonging to the Enugu Electricity Distribution PLC, EEDC located at Ugwuagulu Obiofia, Ozubulu of Anambra State.

It was gathered that Anazodo, stormed the substation on December 25, at about 5.30a.m,. on a motorcycle.
Unknown to him, a resident, who saw him leaving the scene with the vandalised armored cables which he placed on the fuel tank, reported the incident to the leadership of the local vigilante.
He was subsequently apprehended. During interrogation, he led the team to a spot where he buried the vandalised cables, pending when he would get a ready buyer.
He was taken to the palace of the traditional ruler of the community, from where he was handed over to men of the Special Investigation and Prosecution Taskforce on Electricity Offences, SIPTEO for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Members of the community alleged that the latest incident was the fourth time Osita would vandalise transformers.
In a related development, Solomon Nwafor, a native of Ikwo in Ebonyi State was arrested for vandalizing Water Board distribution substation, located at Victory Estate, Emene, Enugu State.
In the course of interrogation, the suspect named the buyer of the vandalised items as one Kenneth Agusi, who operates at the Tinker Market, Coal Camp, Enugu. Kenneth was immediately arrested by the Police.
Also, in Ojoto, Anambra State, members of the Vigilante group arrested a vandal identified as Chinedu Ejikeme for vandalizing injection substation which is an NIPP project, located at Mmiri Ojoto area.

In the course of interrogation, he confessed to have also vandalized a 200KVA transformer, property of EEDC, located at Iruebenebe Community, Ojoto.

Reacting to the development, the Head of Corporate communication, EEDC, Emeka Ezeh, said: “It is worrisome that while EEDC is striving to improve on its service delivery, some individuals that ordinarily should have been engaging in more productive activities resort to frustrating both the company and its customers.
“This singular act costs EEDC a lot financially, and it ends up subjecting our customers to a lot of inconveniences. We appreciate the effort and support of the various vigilante groups as well as the state security agencies in apprehending these vandals and prosecuting them accordingly.”

Exclusive Report: 5 killed in fresh Barkin Ladi attack

Five persons who were returning from a birthday party, Wednesday night, were attacked and killed while two others were injured at Rawuru village, Fan district of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, the State Police Command confirmed.

The deceased were buried yesterday, while the two injured persons were said to be receiving treatment at the General Hospital Barkin Ladi.
Plateau State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Tyopev who confirmed the incident said, “ At about 8am , on December 27, 2018, the Plateau State Police Command received information from Mr. Kim Timothy, the Youth Leader of Rawuru Village, Fan District in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of the state that at about 9.15p.m., the previous day, some unknown gunmen attacked some people that were returning from a birthday party at Pugu village.

“As a result of the attack, five people were killed and two were injured. The Commissioner of Police Plateau State Command, Austin Agbonlahor, has ordered the immediate commencement of investigation in the case to identify and arrest the perpetrators.”

Exclusive Report: Ericmany Wins N14m Case For Douglas Jack aka Runtown

Frontline entertainment company and record label, Ericmany Entertainment has won a N14,000,000 suit filed against it and its act Douglas Jack Agu (aka Runtown) by the Dynamic Minds League.

The suit was for claim of damages against Ericmany for a ‘no-show’ by Runtown at a carnival in Anambra State organized by the group in January 2015.

The case, Suit No LD/ADR/251/2015, was filed on 19th August, 2015 by the Anambra group through its leader, Mr. Chizuo Anetoh. They dragged Runtown, Ericmany Entertainment and Prince Okwudili Umenyiora, the billionaire Chairman of Dilly Motors Limited and Ericmany Entertainment before the Lagos High Court, claiming the sum of N14 Million as damages for failure of Runtown to perform at their Harmattan Carnival held at Adazi-Nnukwu, Anaocha in Anambra State.

Ericmany lawyers, Chijioke Emeka & Colleagues [Auxano Law] argued that the group first breached the contract having failed to provide all that was required and in good time for the artiste to make the appearance. Ericmany’s case was that the group made inadequate and shoddy arrangements. Being the Christmas period, Ericmany’s crew had to sort out late hour flight tickets to Port Harcourt instead of Asaba or Owerri nearer to the Anaocha venue. Upon landing in Port Harcourt it was late to proceed on a dangerous night road journey without adequate security, Ericmany’s lawyer claimed.

During the trial on 10th May, 2018, Mr. Aneto testified for his group. He narrated how Runtown flew from Lagos to Port Harcourt but refused to further proceed on the road journey to Adazi, even after they engaged a police escort for him at the airport. Ericmany’s witness, Amani Henshaw gave an account of the breaches of the contract by the group, especially its failure to provide flight tickets for the crew and failure to provide sufficient security for the night road journey to Anambra State.  He told the Court how his team waited for many hours at the airport until it became very late and they had to cancel the trip.

In his judgment, Hon. Justice K. O. Alogba gave victory to Ericmany. The Judge found that the failure of Runtown to get to Adazi in Anambra State and perform at the carnival was justified as the group’s arrangement was very shoddy. The Court agreed with Ericmany that the Dynamic Minds League was reckless about the contract when it failed to book flight tickets ahead. The Court also held that the group did not prove how they are entitled to their N14 Million claim as it did not adduce cogent evidence. Each of the claims was therefore dismissed. Justice came the way of Ericmany Entertainment barely three years after the Dynamic Minds League flooded the print media, social media and several blogs with news of the alleged breach of contract and its N14 Million suit against Ericmany and Runtown.

Presidential Candidate, Atiku seeks probe of allegation linking Buhari’s family to Keystone, 9mobile ownership

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party , Atiku Abubakar , has called on the appropriate authorities to urgently institute a probe to unravel those he said may be hidden faces behind the new ownership structure of multi billion naira telecoms giant, Etisalat ( now 9 mobile ) Nigeria as well as Keystone Bank .

In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday and signed by his Special Assistant on Public Communication , Mr . Phrank Shaibu , the former vice president said such a probe was necessary in view of reports that members of President Muhammadu Buhari ’ s family now own substantial shares in Etisalat ( 9 mobile ) Nigeria which has an estimated $ 2 b ( about N727 b at 360 per dollar ) of its estimated $ 20 b global net worth .

Atiku also expressed shock at reports from what he described as unimpeachable sources that the first family now plays big in the nation ’ s financial sector after acquiring mouthwatering shares in Keystone Bank with total assets of $ 1 . 916 b ( equivalent to N307 . 5 b) as well as purchasing about N3 b worth of shares in the new Pakistani Islamic Bank .

He said , “ I know that last week was turbulent for President Buhari and I apologise for adding to his woes , but as he is insistent on the myth that he is spotless and anti -corrupt, if this is found to be true , this scandal would break every rule of corporate and public governance , since this will be the first time members of the first family will be openly involved in a once -in -a - lifetime deal that would make them all richer beyond their wildest dreams . ”

Atiku added that the accusation was coming amidst reported allegations in the media that the All Progressives Congress- led Federal Government plans to use billions of naira from the Anchor Borrowers Programme allocated by the Central Bank of Nigeria for farmers , using imaginary donations from 12 million farmers as a façade.
The presidential candidate of the PDP advised President Buhari to shun the use of state resources and machinery for the upcoming 2019 presidential poll .

Specifically, Atiku said no farmer contributed any N1 . 7 b for Buhari ’ s re -election campaign, warning that the APC ’ s decision to use monies meant for farmers “ to run his campaign is not tidy at all . ”

He added , “ The other day , a man who scored 15 , 424 , 921 votes to win the 2015 general election was reported to have been nominated by 14 million APC members at the presidential primaries for 2019 .
“ Now, over 12 million farmers have donated to his campaign. Are they indirectly spewing out outrageous figures of people they intend to claim voted for them in the coming elections ?
“ Does it mean that the President has jettisoned the idea of a free and fair election and telling Nigerians that no matter how they vote , he will return for a second term of four years ?
“ In any case, if the farmers who just took a loan through the Borrowers Anchor programme and have not liquidated the facility can donate this huge sum or any sum for that matter , it means the ‘ Association of widows ’ and children of all those slain by Boko Haram and herdsmen will donate N5 b to the Buhari campaign .
“ In fact , the 23 . 1 million youths who lost their jobs between 2016 till date will donate about N12 b to the Buhari campaign.
“ Assuming but not even conceding that such a huge sum of money was donated to President Buhari by Nigerian farmers as his handlers would want Nigerians to believe , wouldn’ t such donation be in contravention of Section 91 ( 9 ) of the Electoral Act 2010 ( as amended ) which says no individual or other entity shall donate more than N1 m to an aspirant or a candidate . ”

He said if President Buhari wants to run for office next year, he should take only from monies sourced from donations by his campaign groups that are independent of government .
“ Anything short of that – as is currently the case with the use of funds from the CBN meant for farmers - will mean there will be no level playing field for all the candidates billed to contest the presidency during next year’ s presidential elections , ’’ Atiku said.
But reacting , the APC National Publicity Secretary , Mallam Lanre Issa -Onilu , said Atiku had started exhibiting early signs of depression, resulting from obvious frustration .
In a statement made available on Wednesday , Issa -Onilu challenged Atiku to tell Nigerians why a discredited person like him should be elected as President instead of raising puerile allegations on a daily basis .

“ President Buhari and APC, not his programmes for the country, appear to be his main campaign issues . Nigerians are desirous of campaign that focuses on issues that matter to them . For Atiku and his PDP co-travellers , the only interest is to grab power and continue where they stopped in their avarice .
“ The APC administration is eager to showcase the impressive achievements we have recorded in the last three and a half years. This is the campaign that matters to us and this is what Nigerians are interested in . The trajectory is exciting as we see a brighter future shaping up .
The statement added, “ We won ’ t yield to the PDP ’ s shenanigans . We will not play the PDP ’ s game . PDP is acting an anti- people’ s script . President Buhari remains unshaken by the desperate efforts being made by Atiku and the PDP to blackmail the APC government . Everyone who was involved in corrupt practices would be brought to justice.

“ PDP is not offering any alternative to the progressive course this government is pursuing . Ex-President, Olusegun Obasanjo visits his 91-year-old English Language teacher

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday evening , paid a visit to his 91- year-old former English language teacher and mentor , Mr James Popoola , in Ilaro .

A statement by Obasanjo’ s media aide , Kehinde Akinyemi , made available to journalists in Abeokuta on Wednesday , said the former President was accompanied on the visit by his classmate and close friend , who is the traditional ruler of Ibara , Oba Jacob Omolade .
It was gathered that Pa Popoola taught both Obasanjo and Oba Omolade at the Baptist Boys High School , Abeokuta , in the 1950 s .

The statement said Obasanjo engaged the former tutor in banters while recalling some old memories .
The statement read in part “ The trip , which was led by one of the teacher’ s children , Akin , from his Abeokuta residence, saw Obasanjo arriving into the waiting arms of Mr and Mrs Popoola at the family house in Ilaro , Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State , at around 5 pm.
“ It was an elated Pa Popoola who said . ‘ I can ’ t believe it . You mean I will host you in my house today before my death ? It was 35 years ago I met you . Oh ! I am delighted, very delighted’ .

“ Obasanjo made a move to take over his ( Popoola ’ s ) wheelchair to drive him back into the large sitting room , saying , ‘ We are delighted too sir . Let us come inside . I am here with Kabiyesi too . You remember him? Jacob Omolade , that boy that ’…. ”
“ Ahhh! Kabiyesi o ! Yes , I remember him. The Olubara , ” Popoola interjected , as the traditional ruler stretched out a hand to shake him .
Obasanjo said it had always been his desire to visit the ex -teacher but for his tight schedule .
At that point , the former teacher ’ s aged wife , Mojisola , joined in the exchange of banters .
“ Daddy often remembers all your pranks . He must be very happy receiving you today , ” she told Obasanjo and the monarch .
Pa Popoola thanked the visitors and prayed for their continuous success in life.

When our correspondent pointed out the age difference between the ex -teacher and Obasanjo, who will be 82 next year, Akinyemi said , “ Anyone that attended the standard class in those days could teach. With a three -month course then , you could be a teacher. He ( Popoola ) could have been a Grade II teacher then with eight or nine years’ difference between the ages of the teacher and his pupils . ”

Businessman, Femi Otedola To Sell Off HIS Shares At Forte Oil

Nigerian businessman, Femi Otedola, has agreed to sell the entirety of his 75 per cent direct and indirect shareholdings in Forte Oil.

In a letter sent to the Nigerian Stock Exchange and signed by Akinleye Olagbende, the general counsel of Forte Oil, Otedola said he was divesting from the company in order to “explore and maximise business opportunities in refining and petrochemicals”.

“Forte Oil Plc hereby notifies the Nigerian Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, Shareholders and the investing community that its Majority Shareholder, Mr. Femi Otedola, CON has reached an agreement with the Prudent Energy team, investing through Ignite Investments and Commodities Limited, to divest of his full 75% direct and indirect shareholding in the Company’s downstream business,” the statement said.

The billionaire has been the majority shareholder in the company since 2007,  when he the Incorporated Trustees of NNPC’s Pension Fund divested its stake to the Otedola-owned Zenon Petroleum & Gas Limited.

The sale of his shareholdings is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2019 “subject to the satisfaction of various conditions and receipt of applicable regulatory approvals”.

Top African philosopher, Professor Sophie Oluwole is dead, Punch Metro reports.

 

Professor Oluwole known for her pan-African stance passed on at the age of 83.

 

Her death was confirmed by one of her colleagues, Professor Yomi Akinyeye of the Department of History and Strategic Studies, University of Lagos.

 

He said, “Yes, I just confirmed it just now. I spoke to her daughter who confirmed it to me. I don’t have the details just yet.”

 

It was reported that Oluwole died around 8pm on Sunday evening after a protracted illness.

 

Oluwole was the first Nigerian female doctorate degree holder in philosophy and a practitioner of Yoruba philosophy.

 

Born in Igbara-oke, Ondo State in 1936, she studied history, geography and philosophy at the University of Lagos and eventually settled on philosophy.

Barcelona was on alert after US warns of possible attack during Christmas

Barcelona was on alert on Monday after the US State Department warned of the risk of a terrorist attack in Spain’s second-largest city during the Christmas holidays.

“Exercise heightened caution around areas of vehicle movement, including buses, in the Las Ramblas area of Barcelona during Christmas and New Year’s. Terrorists may attack with little or no warning, targeting tourist locations, transportation hubs, and other public areas,” the State Department’s Bureau of Consular Affairs said in a tweet on Sunday.

Asked about the warning during an interview with Rac1 radio on Monday, Catalonia’s regional interior minister Miquel Buch said police “were working on this threat”.
“We take seriously all threats, all of them are investigated,” he added, without giving further details.

Top-selling Spanish newspaper El Pais, citing anonymous police sources, said the authorities were looking for a 30-year-old Moroccan man with a licence to drive buses.
Barcelona-based daily El Periodico de Catalunya said Catalan regional police had circulated an internal note that the man could try to drive a bus into crowds in Barcelona.
Contacted by AFP, a spokesman for the regional police force in Catalonia did not confirm police were seeking a Moroccan man but said a “temporary reinforcement of security measures in areas of high concentration of people” was in place.

Afro pop star, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid, surprised fans when he performed at Olamide’s Adedeji aka Baddo’s concert in Lagos shortly after his own show.

In spite holding on the same day, Sunday, Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ concert and Olamide’s ‘Live In Concert’ (OLIC) were sold out with fans trooping to support each artist.

At about 2 a.m, Wizkid kicked off a live set at his own festival which spanned over one hour.
After the electrifying show, he made it to Olamide’s concert where he delivered a brief but stunning performance of ‘Kana’.
Nigerians on social media spared no time to share their excitement over the support shown by Wizkid amidst claims that the date clash would affect the impact of both concerts.

They commended Wizkid for constantly supporting his colleagues and praised him for being able to perform at two concerts in one night.

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to Previous Governments: What they did with our money

Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo has taken a swipe at previous governments particularly the administration of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, with a charge on Nigerians to ask them what they did with monies earned?

The Vice President also disclosed that in building infrastructures for the development of the country, the administration of President Muhammad Buhari has spent N2.7 trillion on building infrastructure since its assumption in office. In his address to the monarchs, Osinbajo who was accompanied by Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Ibe Kachukwu, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan and others, said 30, 000 petty traders would benefit from the scheme with N10,000 each in January, 2019.
Speaking further, he said: “This is not a government that believe that the money of the people should be stolen because our determination is to build this country.
“We are earning today 60 percent less than what the country earned in the past 10years, yet we are spending more in building infrastructure than any government in the country today.

“The question we ought to ask previous government is, what did they do with the monies if today we are still building the Itakpe-Warri railway line which was established 35years ago as well as the Kaduna Hydro project which also was established 40years ago?”

Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has rejected the dissolution of the State exco of the All Progressives Congress and eventual inauguration of caretaker committee , saying nothing will happen to the executive.

The governor said he had regard for only President Muhammadu Buhari in APC, saying other leaders were nobody to him.
Amosun said this while addressing members of the APC at the party Secretariat along Abiola way, Abeokuta. He declared that the exco would spend four years.

Amosun who spoke in the presence of the embattled exco led by Chief Derin Adebiyi at the party Secretariat insisted that the exco would spend four years despite the purported inauguration of the caretaker committee by the National Working Committee of the party.
Amosun said “You know me by now. For me, I fear God and I respect people. So, it won’t be because we are afraid or we don’t want to talk. Where we are now, what we should concentrate in doing is to let them know that here in Ogun State, this is the home of President Buhari and we must vote massively for him.
“We are human. We are no God and that is why we are telling them that in this coming election, in this Ogun State, it is whoever all of you (people) decide to back that will win the election.

“So, the best way to answer them is through our action. And what is the action? We will use our votes to let them know who owns this Ogun state.
“So, if they are looking for state to destroy they should not think of Ogun State. We are ready for them. We don’t fear them. All of them put together, we don’t fear anybody. We fear God and we fear President Muhammadu Buhari.

A combined global audience of 1 . 12 billion watched the World Cup final between France and Croatia in July , FIFA , the governing body of world football , said on Friday.
In total , FIFA said , a “ combined 3 . 572 billion viewers – more than half of the global population aged four and over – tuned in to world football ’ s ultimate competition ” for at least a minute , over the course of the World Cup’ s from June 14 to July 15.

A survey it had commissioned by FIFA found that 3 . 04 billion viewers caught at least three minutes, a 10. 9 per cent increase on Brazil 2014 , and 2 . 49 billion watched at least 30 minutes, or one third of one match , up on 2014 ’ s 1 . 95 billion.
FIFA calculated that the average live audience for each of the 64 matches was 191 million .
The survey estimated that 9 . 5 per cent of that audience , or 309 . 7 million people, watched no coverage at home but “ caught the action on digital platforms , in public viewing areas or in bars and restaurants . ”

That proportion was higher for the final between France and Croatia . FIFA said 884 . 37 million viewers tuning in to traditional TV coverage and a further 231 . 82 million watching outside the home or digitally.

Miyetti Allah says Atiku will divide Nigeria if he becomes the president

The National Coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria in Benue State , Garus Gololo , on Thursday took a swipe at the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party , stating that if elected, he ( Atiku ) would create division in the country .

Gololo was reacting to a statement by Atiku campaign media organisation . One of the Alhaji Atiku Abubakar presidential campaign spokesmen , Phrank Shaibu , had earlier in the week said there would be more killings of farmers by suspected Fulani herdsmen if President Muhammadu Buhari was re -elected next year .
The Miyetti Allah leader in Benue State said it was wrong for Atiku to have made such inciting statement , noting that it was not only Fulani herdsmen that had issues with farmers in Nigeria .

He said , “ We Fulani herdsmen are not killers and before Buhari came to power , there were crisis between farmers and herders in Benue , Tarawa , Nasarawa , Adamawa and some other states .
He said , “ I am disappointed in Atiku because he had already divided Nigeria even when he has not come to power . Buhari has nothing to do with herdsmen , he is a Nigerian and it is the people of Nigeria that voted him into power and l believe they will still vote him again in 2019 . ”

“ Nigerians should ask Atiku about the N68 . 8 bn proceeds from NEPA which he sold when he superintended over the privatisation process of the then NEPA .
“ People should talk about the power plants or the money he raised from the sale of that public asset . As far as I am concerned, Atiku is not a credible candidate to contest the coming presidential election in Nigeria because he is so sentimental and if they vote him in as president , he would divide Nigeria the more.
“ So , for us Fulanis , we are not killers , neither are we criminals nor kidnappers and President Buhari has nothing to do with herdsmen. It is the people of Nigeria who voted Buhari in 2015 and they will still vote him . The crisis between farmers and herdsmen is a common thing everywhere across the world it is not peculiar to Nigeria . ”

Gololo asked the PDP presidential candidate if herdsmen were responsible for killings when he was a vice president .

Exclusive Report - Senate tasks Federal Government, security agencies to unravel Alex Badeh's assassination

The upper chamber of the National Assembly, Thursday, urged the federal government to unravel the circumstances surrounding the assassination of former Chief of Defence staff, Air Chief Marshal Alex Badeh (retd).

The Senate also urged the security agencies to search and rescue the personal staff of the slain Air Force Chief held hostage by the assailants.

The call by the Senate was sequel to a motion sponsored by Senator Binta Masi Garba (Adamawa North) and co-sponsored by Senator Bala Na’Allah (Kebbi south).

Garba recalled that “Badeh retired in July 2015 in line with military tradition a pulling-out parade was held at the Mogadishu cantonment Abuja where Air Chief Marshal Badeh gave his valedictory speech before proceeding to his home state”.

She however regretted that the late Chief of Defence staff died from gunshot wounds sustained when his vehicle was attacked while returning from his farm alongside his driver while one of his personal staff is still held hostage by the assailants.

In his contribution, Senator Shehu Sani, who lamented that the killing was an addition to the cases of unresolved assassination, warned that the state must take the issue very seriously.

Exclusive Report - FRSC denies helping rice smugglers

The Federal Road Safety Corps , Badagry -Seme Command , says its officers are not aiding and abetting rice smugglers as being speculated in some quarters .
The Unit Commander , Mr Fatai Bakare , made the clarification on Thursday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Badagry , Lagos State .

According to Bakare , the operations of FRSC commences by 6 am and ends by 6 pm, except when are on special patrol which extends to 10 pm.
“ This special operation is restricted to the metropolis and not outside the metropolis because we are not armed .

“ You don ’ t expect us to be in a secluded point when we are not armed .
“ You don ’ t expect our staffers to be in a secluded point around 1 am , when bad boys , armed to the teeth move around , ” he said .
Bakare said that FRSC officials were not trained to arrest smugglers , who usually move at night at high speed , and armed with sophisticated weapons .

“ If you look at the operations of smugglers , you will notice that they move in the night and in a convoy .
“ They are very reckless when they move, ready to kill. They are armed with assorted weapons like swords, cutlasses , charms and at times gun .
“ How can you expect a non-armed organisation to arrest such vehicles and people?
“ There have been several attacks by the smugglers and other agencies which led to death .
“ Have we not been seeing obituaries in the dailies of some people from different agencies that were killed by the smugglers despite the fact that they are armed ?
“ So , what do you think will happen if our staffers make attempts to arrest them ?
“ We only restricted our programme to enlightenment; we go to Churches , Mosques, marketplaces, palaces and motor parks .
“ We use these media to pass our information across since we do not have the wherewithal to confront them on the road , ” he said .

Exclusive Update: Ogun APC protesters, security operatives trade words at INEC HQ

There was tension on Thursday at the Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission as protesters from Yewa Senatorial District in Ogun State exchanged words with security operatives .

The protesters numbering over 200 under the aegis of Masses Against Electoral Fraud , are all members of the All Progressives Congress and Yewa Collective Action Movement .
They were protesting against the alleged irregularities which produced Dapo Abiodun as the governorship candidate of APC in Ogun State .
As early as 8 :30am , the protesters bearing anti -APC placards , including “ INEC must disqualify Dapo Abiodun ” and “ Security agencies should investigate Dapo Abiodun ” , marched towards INEC office .

But they were barred from getting close to the electoral commission headquarters by a combined team of security agencies , who insisted that the protesters cannot block the road .
While the security agencies were asking them to move or regret their actions , the protesters said they were on a legitimate mission .
The protesters insisted on going into the INEC office , even as the police and officers of the Department of State Services threatened to shoot at them if they do not go back .
The protesters went ahead with the protest and thereafter proceeded to APC national secretariat .

The spokesperson of the protesters and chieftain of APC in Ogun state, Ishola Adeshina , told The PUNCH that “ the emergence of Dapo Abiodun is a fraud . ”
He called on the chairman of INEC , Prof . Mahmoud Yakubu and the relevant organs of the commission not to recognise Dapo Abiodun until all cases were settled .
