REPORTS - Amosun loyalists disrupt TraderMoni disbursement in Ogun

Pandemonium broke out on Tuesday in Abeokuta, Ogun State, when some men, suspected to be loyalists of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, invaded Lafenwa Market, venue of the disbursement of TraderMoni and disrupted the programme.

The men, led by the Chairman, Abeokuta North-West Local Council Development Area, Monsuru Shorunke, also took away the Iyaloja of the market, Mrs Ramotalai Olatunji, but returned her few minutes later.

TraderMoni is a Federal Government intervention programme for petty traders under the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme.

Our correspondent gathered that handlers of the TraderMoni had arrived at the market and were documenting the traders’ bio-data using their Permanent Voter Cards before event was disrupted.

When The PUNCH got to the market, the Iyaloja was seen giving N500 to each of the traders at the market.

It was gathered that Iyaloja gave out the money to the traders in replacement of the TraderMoni fund.

The LCDA chairman, Shorunke, confirmed that he led some “boys to Lafenwa on the order of Governor Ibikunle Amosun.”

He said he went there when news filtered in that some politicians “were giving the traders money in exchange for their PVCs.”

He said, “I was in front of the governor when we heard that some people came to Lafenwa Market, collecting PVCs from the traders in exchange for money.

“The governor said we should go and find out what was happening.

“We took the Iyaloja to the governor’s house along with the Babaloja of Lafenwa.

“We believe that it was wrong for them to collect people’s PVCs before election day. That was what they came to do at Lafenwa and it is wrong.”

Neither the Special Adviser to Amosun, Rotimi Durojaiye, nor the governor’s Special Assistant, Eshiomohmo  Imoudu, could not be reached as their phones rang out. Messages sent to their phones were not replied to.

Exclusive Reports - APC threatens to punish Amosun for instigating violence at Ogun rally

The All Progressives Congress has vowed to punish the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, for allegedly hiring thugs that attacked President Muhammadu Buhari and party leaders at Monday’s campaign rally of the party in Abeokuta.

Expressing regrets at the disruption of the campaign, the APC National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, in a statement on Tuesday said that those responsible for the “premeditated attacks” would be dealt with.

The party said the sanction would be delayed till after the elections.

Issa-Onilu said, “The All Progressives Congress (APC) regrets Monday’s premeditated attacks sponsored by Governor Ibikunle Amosun on President Muhammadu Buhari and other senior party leaders at the venue of the presidential campaign rally in Ogun State.

“This is one act of indiscipline too many. The APC will not condone acts of indiscipline, indiscretion, and anti-party activities from any party member no matter how highly placed.

“The party will review this gross misconduct of deliberately positioning thugs to attack and embarrass the President and the party’s leadership. The party will take a decision on this matter immediately after the elections.

“It must be stated that party supremacy and discipline according to our constitution are not matters of choice but binding principles which must be adhered to by all party members.

“The APC is a party known for discipline, justice, fairness, and equality hence any plan to destroy what this party stands for would be rejected. No single person will be allowed to put his personal and selfish interests ahead of the wishes of the people of Ogun State and elsewhere.”

The APC said the decision of the National Working Committee on post-primaries remained unbendable.

“Post primaries, the decision of the National Working Committee to uphold the wishes of party members is unbendable. Therefore, whatever means being presently deployed by persons intending to undermine the wishes of the people for personal gains will not be tolerated.

“We urge our teeming party supporters and members not to be disturbed by Monday’s condemnable incident. We urge all to continue trooping out en masse for our remaining campaigns and vote massively for all and only APC candidates in the forthcoming general elections,” the statement added.

Exclusive Report - Amosun rejects dissolution of Ogun APC Exco

Ogun State governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has rejected the dissolution of the State exco of the All Progressives Congress and eventual inauguration of caretaker committee , saying nothing will happen to the executive.

The governor said he had regard for only President Muhammadu Buhari in APC, saying other leaders were nobody to him.
Amosun said this while addressing members of the APC at the party Secretariat along Abiola way, Abeokuta. He declared that the exco would spend four years.

Amosun who spoke in the presence of the embattled exco led by Chief Derin Adebiyi at the party Secretariat insisted that the exco would spend four years despite the purported inauguration of the caretaker committee by the National Working Committee of the party.
Amosun said “You know me by now. For me, I fear God and I respect people. So, it won’t be because we are afraid or we don’t want to talk. Where we are now, what we should concentrate in doing is to let them know that here in Ogun State, this is the home of President Buhari and we must vote massively for him.
“We are human. We are no God and that is why we are telling them that in this coming election, in this Ogun State, it is whoever all of you (people) decide to back that will win the election.

“So, the best way to answer them is through our action. And what is the action? We will use our votes to let them know who owns this Ogun state.
“So, if they are looking for state to destroy they should not think of Ogun State. We are ready for them. We don’t fear them. All of them put together, we don’t fear anybody. We fear God and we fear President Muhammadu Buhari.

Amosun - I’ll work against Ogun APC gov candidate

The Ogun State Governor and the All Progressives Congress ’ candidate for the Ogun Central Senatorial District , Ibikunle Amosun , on Monday said he would work against the governorship candidate of the APC , Dapo Abiodun , in the 2019 governorship poll .
Amosun said this while addressing a stakeholders ’ meeting of the APC which was attended by his preferred governorship candidate and the candidate of the Allied People’ s Movement , Adekunle Akinlade , at the Presidential Villa in Abeokuta , the Ogun State capital .

As Amosun was addressing his supporters , a former state governor , Chief Olusegun Osoba , at another venue described those against Abiodun ’ s candidacy as “ disappointed” party members .
Amosun , however , said he would remain in the APC to contest the senatorial seat and ensure the re -election of President Muhammadu Buhari .

He insisted that he was in support of the action of the APC aggrieved members who dumped the ruling party for the APM .
Amosun ’ s statement came as 26 aggrieved candidates of the APC loyal to him announced their movement to the APM .
God won’ t forgive me if I dump Akinlade – Amosun
Amosun , who said he had attempted to stop the defection of Akinlade and other aggrieved candidates to another party , said God would not forgive him if he had stopped them from protecting the tickets given to them during the APC primaries .
The governor disclosed that some people, whose name he did not mention , had been begging him to ensure the unity of the party in the state.
He said his only condition to them was to return the name of Akinlade as the governorship candidate of the APC before any discussion could take place .

He said , “ When these people came , they told me they were leaving the APC , I said ‘ no ’ but I couldn ’ t stop them . In fact , Akinlade has my full support . I am not going to stop him. Everything I have, I will use to support him , let them try whatever they want to try , we also have our strategies and I am not going to hide behind one finger .
“ I remain in the APC because that ’ s what those people want. They want us to leave the APC but they are joking . I will stay in the APC to ensure that ( President Muhammadu) Buhari wins in Ogun State and to let them know that they can ’ t subvert the will of the people of Ogun State.
“ Every day , I will campaign for President Muhammadu Buhari , we will do everything possible to ensure Buhari wins massively in Ogun State, but they should not miss it . I, Senator Ibikunle Amosun , will not support anyone ( Dapo Abiodun ) they are bringing .
“ Why would a reasonable person with less than 10 per cent lord it over the majority ? It can ’ t happen . They know there was only one primary and they have called me to say that , and we have done everything possible to right the wrong, but they are already destroying the party .

“ God will punish me if I stop Akinlade . All of you who are supporting Akinlade, you have my support and blessing . They are talking about party supremacy, what happens to party supremacy at the local level ?”

Ogun State Governor, Amosun slams Tinubu, Osoba as anti-Oshiomhole protests spread

The Governor of Ogun State , Senator Ibikunle Amosun , has attacked the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress , Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu, and a former governor of the state, Aremo Segun Oshoba , over alleged complicity in electoral fraud in the state .

Amosun accused the two party leaders of “conniving with a cabal in Lagos” to write a fake result which produced Dapo Abiodun as the party’s candidate for the 2019 governorship election .

Amosun said this in an interview shortly after swearing - in the new Chief Judge of the state , Mosunmola Dipeolu, in the Governor ’ s Office chamber in Oke - Mosan , Abeokuta on Monday .

He alleged that the silence of the two party leaders , who were aware of what transpired in the state with respect to the primary, smacked of complicity.
Amosun said, “ The President already knows there was no election in Ogun State . He knows that they just went to Lagos; wrote all results , and that what they did was fraud.
“If the National Working Committee or the national chairman said there was any election in Ogun State , it was all fraud. That is what I said. ”
He insisted that the only primary which held in the state was the one which Adekunle Akinlade won to become the party ’s governorship candidate .
The governor said, “Mr President already knows there was no election in Ogun State other than the one we held .
“The issue of Chief Osoba and Asiwaju and co , what we said was that there was a definite silence from their end, and silence means consent. You can record me and publish it in your newspapers.
“We have not heard one word from any of them. Was there any election in Ogun State ? ‘Yes ’ or ‘No?’ They should come out and those that are hiding behind one finger , they cannot come out ?”
He added, “People at this level should be courageous enough to take position , to come out , to come and tell us whether there was election .
“On governorship , the day they said they did it or not , the one that we had, there was live telecast, people even witnessed it. They all came that they are changing again.
“They removed Leke Adewolu, Mikail Kazeem . All of those ones are nothing but fraud. ”
Not long after the swearing - in , about 200 APC councillors in the state staged a protest demanding that the party ’s NWC should recognise Adekunle Akinlade as the party’s governorship candidate .
The councillors, who were armed with placards with various inscriptions, stormed the Arcade Ground within the state secretariat at Oke Mosan , Abeokuta, around 10 am .
Some of the inscriptions on the placards read , ‘We want justice in Ogun APC’ , ‘ Give us Triple A ’, ‘Oshiomhole , Osinbajo , we want justice in Ogun State ’ and a ‘Minority cannot take charge over majority’, among others.
They were said to be on solidarity visit to the seat of government to register their demand with Amosun . .
Ogun APC chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi , later addressed the protesters. He said, “We have seen all the messages on the placards. I want you to remain steadfast in your demand , nothing negative will happen to the mandate you have given to Akinlade .
“The elders and party leaders are looking into the matter . I want to urge you to continue to be peaceful , don’ t fight anybody .
Almost about the same time , some groups namely , Ogun Progressive Students, Ogun Youth Assembly , Coalition of Ogun Traders , among others, organised a counter- protest.
The protesters who converged on the Nigeria Union of Journalists secretariat, Oke Ilewo, urged Amosun , to accept the party’s decision and support Dapo Abiodun as the party’ s the governorship candidate .

The groups on their part condemned what they termed the “determined mission of Amosun ” to drag the hard - earned integrity of Ogun State through the mud .
They were led by the convener of Ogun Progressive Youths and students, Adeyemi Azeez; convener of Movement for Secure Nigeria , Abdul - Kabiru Ayoola; and the Secretary, Ogun Arewa Council , Idris Muhammad.

Never had a girlfriend in the past 26 years –Gov Amosun rubbishes pregnancy reports

The last has not been heard about Governor Ibikunle Amosun alleged infidelity with a certain female corp member who deliver a set of twins for the governor. The governor on Friday threatened to fish out those purveying rumours and falsehoods against him, and have them sent to jail.
He was speaking at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during a Town Hall meeting of stakeholders for the 2018 Budget.

According to The Nation,Amosun accused some unnamed politicians, whom he said,are aspiring to govern Ogun State in 2019,of being responsible for the spate of falsehood churned out against him and his administration.

He said has been married to his wife, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, in the last 26 years andhad never kept a girl friend, let alone having one that delivered twins for him, adding that the rumoured twins issue also got to the notice of his wife.

He noted that task of keeping one wife is even challenging today in Nigeria and had no plans whatsoever to double such challenges with additional baggage.He noted that those purveyors of falsehood could beat James Hadley Chase to it in “fiction concoction” in bids to malign him.
