The singer who recently regained freedom from EFCC’s custody gathers the attention of Nigerians on social media with the unique dance routine he created for the song ‘Soapy’.

STARBOY, Wizkid Announce First 2019 Single Title ‘JORO,’ Produced By Northboi

STARBOY, Wizkid has been teasing the release of his long-awaited album, Made In Lagos, sharing snippets and possible collaborators. Now, he's announced his first official single of the year, the Northboi-produced "Joro", getting us even more hyped.

Luckily, fans haven’t had to deal with a Wizkid drought, as the afropop star found time, in between working on the album, to collaborate with the likes of Skepta, Goldlink, Larry Gaaga and more. While all those team-ups were great, nothing really beats a Wizkid single.

Last year, Wizkid kicked things off with the Northboi-produced "Soco", which went on to become the song of the year. Since then, Northboi has become one of the most exciting beatsmiths in the game, working with everyone from Mayorkun to Terri.

Given that the two have reunited again, it’s hard not to be excited for “Joro”. While the announcement didn’t come with a release date, in typical Wizkid fashion, we’ll still be waiting with baited breath to hear what the afropop juggernaut has cooked up.

Budding Nigerian music artiste, who’s MAVINs record label’s newest and youngest artiste, Rema has been a buzzing sensation on the internet for a while now, all thanks to his impressive freestyles and lyrical dexterity.

But there currently is an ongoing debate on Twitter as to whether or not, Rema is better than Wizkid – the singer had recently come under fire for insisting that Wizkid and some of his other colleagues might sound like him. 

Hisstance came after there had been wide spread commentary that he sounds a lot like Wizkid, after he asked about being compared to Wizkid, Reekado Banks and Skiibii, he said

“I don’t sound like anyone actually, they might sound like me but I don’t sound like anyone.”

Nigerian netizens are now however, dragging among themselves on social media as to who is better between the duo – some fans even argued that it is disrespectful to compare Rema with Wizkid.

Starboy, Wizkid To Tour Five Canadian Cities

Nigerian Afro-pop singer and multiple-award winner Wizkid has announced his readiness to tour some cities in Canada.

The singer took to his Instagram page on Wednesday to inform his fans and music lovers that he would be visiting Canada for a five-state tour, starting on Friday, March 29.

He wrote, “Canada lets rage!!. I’m otw! #Backonroad!! Tings tings.”

Wizkid said he would first visit Toronto, then Ottawa on Saturday, March 30, to thrill fans with a spectacular performance.

On Sunday, March 31, the Afropop superstar would be performing in Montreal while fans at Edmonton and Vancouver would get several flavours of ‘Wizkid stew’ on April 5 and 6, respectively.

The “Ojuelegba” crooner had announced his intention to take a break in January only to return with news that he had new music on the way.

According to reports, the new song he is set to release which features budding singing sensation, Teni, was stolen from an unknown act.

Exclusive Report - Wizkid Urges Nigerians To Vote Without Sentiment During General Election

Nigerian pop star Wizkid has spoken up about the coming election and he had a few things to say.

The Starboy Entertainment boss urged Nigerian to make the right decision when they head to the polls during the weekend. He said Nigerians shouldn’t be sentimental about who they vote neither should they be swayed by others.

He also asked politicians to quit joking with the populace.

“Politicians stop joking with people’s lives. You are responsible for the lives of millions of people and your decision affects all. Help make Nigeria a better place”.

The singer also advised against voting a candidate “because a paid celebrity endorsed them”.

#Starboy Wizkid Announces Break From Music, Also Reveals Next Move

Starboy records boss and frontline act, Ayodeji Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, has announced his intention to take a break from music.

The “Fever” crooner took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, to announce that he would be taking a much-deserved rest till March, 2019. Wizkid, who did not reveal the reason for his intended break, uploaded on Twitter a video of him having fun with his crew members with the caption: “Gone till March! Thank u”.

Nigerians react, Wizkid performs at Olamide's concert

Afro pop star, Ayodeji Balogun aka Wizkid, surprised fans when he performed at Olamide’s Adedeji aka Baddo’s concert in Lagos shortly after his own show.

In spite holding on the same day, Sunday, Wizkid’s ‘Made in Lagos’ concert and Olamide’s ‘Live In Concert’ (OLIC) were sold out with fans trooping to support each artist.

At about 2 a.m, Wizkid kicked off a live set at his own festival which spanned over one hour.
After the electrifying show, he made it to Olamide’s concert where he delivered a brief but stunning performance of ‘Kana’.
Nigerians on social media spared no time to share their excitement over the support shown by Wizkid amidst claims that the date clash would affect the impact of both concerts.

They commended Wizkid for constantly supporting his colleagues and praised him for being able to perform at two concerts in one night.

For the first time, Wizkid and Olamide have decided to hold their December shows on the same day.
In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Olamide confirmed the news, which had been circulating on social media.  He said, “It is true that the two shows will happen on the same day. The population of Nigeria is huge and everyone cannot fill up one event centre.”

The rapper-turned-singer also insisted that Wizkid’s show would not affect the success of his own show. “I believe the sky is big enough for all birds to fly without touching each other. Starboy, Wizkid honoured by Minnesota governor in U. S, also declared October 6 as Wizkid day

Award winning Artist, Wizkid, has been honoured in the United States by the governor of Minnesota, Mark Dayton. Dayton, declared Oct, 6 every year as Wizkid day.

According to the proclamation on his tweeter handle @wizkid, the artiste becomes the first African artiste to sell out Skyway Theatre on Oct. The only other artist who has achieved same feat in Minnesota, is Beyonce.
