Exclusively, Adekunle Gold reveals why he helped Olawale, Project Fame winner turned Uber driver

Adekunle Gold in a recent interview revealed why he decided to help Olawale, the project fame winner turned Uber driver after he saw his viral video.

According to Adekunle Gold, he decided to help Olawale after he saw his video because he is all about ‘dignity in labour’ even though he was trolled on for winning Project Fame winner and ending up becoming an Uber driver. He also went further to give him a song he wrote after an experience in the United States in 2016, ensured he got a studio session and is currently shooting a video for him.

Speakingat Cool FM, Adekunle said;
So there’s this guy called Olawale, he won Project Fame and I can’t remember which year. When I saw his video that went viral talking about him doing uber and how people have abused him on how do you go from winning Project Fame to riding Uber, and he was just being honest. He was just saying I can’t steal, I don’t know how to steal, a man has to do what he has to do to fend for himself. And that touched me because that’s everything I’ve always been about. My essence is always just Work. The dignity in labour is underrated in this country. People do so much, but they don’t get celebrated. You don’t even need to celebrated for what you are doing, but at least get rewarded. So it just touched me ‘I should help this guy’.
Also confirming that Adekunle Gold gave him a song he wrote and paid for a studio session, Olawale who shared a screenshot of a message he got from Adekunle Gold wrote on Instagram;
Here is the rest of the story;
On sept 5, After the video of me on the Riding app surfaced, I got this message from my Oga. And even though he’s not been keen on sharing, my story cannot be complete without thanking him and his amazing team for being true to their word.
I was in the studio with him in less than 24hrs after that message.
He wrote the whole song. Yes! I have a song written by @ADEKUNLEGOLD. The talented and beautiful @xobutxoproduced it with a touch of @pheelzmrproducer and @seyifunmi.wav. It was finished by the masterful hands of @vtekdawesomenow passionately promoted and distributed by @mister_kareem.
My brother AG, I want to thank you for not judging me and for reaching out when alot people thought I already misused my opportunity. God bless and honour you the way you have selflessly honoured me.
One day, out tomorrow, video coming soon

I thought I wouldn’t succeed with my music – Adekunle Gold

Ever since Adekunle Gold was introduced into the mainstream of the Nigerian music industry, he has been making impact and creating great tunes to the delight of his fans.

The Ire crooner howeveradmitted that  he was initially scared his style of music would not be accepted by Nigerians.It is widely believed that for a Nigerian artiste to be successful, he or shehas to do ‘commercial’ music.

Commercial music in this case means pop, street sounds. Even though this is still largely the case, some artistes such as Adekunle Gold, Praiz, Simi, among others, have been able to carve a niche for themselves with their songs which are different from the norm.

Speaking about his eventual success, Adekunle Gold opened up to Sunday Scoop on how delighted he is that he took the chance.
He said: “I feel very happy thatalternative music is getting better acceptance in the industry. Music is very wide and there isno reason to limit ourselves to just a part of it.

Initially, I was worried and scared because my music is different. I wasn’t really sure if I would be able to connect to the audience. I had some fears but I decided to stay true to myself.It is very important to believe in yourself and to have confidence in your abilities. There were many times that I wasturned down and I feltlike giving up. So, it hasn’t been an easy task. I am thankful forall that I have been able to achieve in the industry so far. I believe that if you are consistent, it would ultimately pay off.

”On if he still does graphics design, Gold said, “I still do that but just for myself alone. There is no time for me to engage in it on a larger scale.”

GIST- Adekunle Gold opens up on asking Adesua Etomi out

Via twitter Adekunkle Gold once revealed that he asked newly married Adesua, to behis girlfriend but was told by her to get 50,000 retweets before she would accept. He was still on the retweets when Adeua announced her engagement to Banky.

Speaking with Saturday Beats about the tweet, Gold said it was a joke.“People do not know if Adesua is just my friend. They wouldn’t know if my tweet was just banter or if it was real. I guess a lot of people thought it was real and I was asking Adesua out online. Why would I do that? We were just joking and she is my friend. I even tweeted when she got engaged that I’d not even got the 50, 000 retweets she asked for and she was already engaged.

It was just banter but I guess people see what they want to see. Adesua and I never dated; we were/are just friends.“If we had dated, I would have definitely worked towards marrying her. I mean, who would not want to marry Adesua? That is ‘if’ we had dated but that was never the case.”On marriage;He said, “I am also thinking of marriage because I am a family man. Already, I have a girlfriend but I would not tell you if she is in this industry.

I don’t have to tell you if I am dating Simi or not. I cannot reveal my girlfriend’s identity because it could be that she does not want to be known. It could be that I want that aspect of my life to be a secret. People know and love me because of my music. I cannot be married for 10 years and people would not eventually find out. When the time is right, everyone would know who my love interest is. Let’s assume that I am dating Simi, what if it does not work out? I’d love to keep that part of my life secret.”
