Usher Raymond is back on the market. The 40-year-old R&B crooner filed for divorce from his wife Grace Miguel after 3 years of marriage.

In a court document obtained by PEOPLE and first reported by The Blast, Usher filed for divorce on Friday in Georgia.

Usher and Grace announced their separation in March -- after the singer was sued by several people claiming he exposed them to the herpes virus.

"After much thought and consideration, we have mutually decided to separate as a couple. We remain deeply connected, loving friends who will continue supporting each other through the next phases of our lives," the statement read. "The enormous amount of love and respect that we have for each other will only increase as we move forward."

Usher and Grace tied the knot in a secret ceremony in Cuba in 2015.

Insiders say the couple is still very much together, and that the divorce was planned to protect Usher's assets in the event that a sympathetic judge or jury believes his accusers and hit him with a large jury award.

PEOPLE reports that Usher and Grace were last spotted together in June -- several months after they announced their split.

The couple also unloaded pricey real estate, including their home in the Los Angeles area over the summer.

Usher Raymond finally found a buyer for his 10,823 sq. ft. mansion he shared with ex-wife Tameka Foster.

Usher unloaded the house for a cool $1.5 million, The Blast reports.

The seven bedroom, 10 bath house with separate guest house was sold on July 2 after Usher listed the manse several times without success.

The home is located in the Country Club of the South in Alpharetta, an affluent suburb northwest of Atlanta.
The 39-year-old R&B crooner was forced to flee this house after a stalker was arrested twice for knocking on his front door, claiming she was Usher’s wife.

The home boasts a gourmet kitchen, home hair salon, yoga studio, resort-style master bath with sauna, a guest house with a recording studio converted into a private dance studio, and even a climate controlled treehouse for Usher’s 2 sons.

via The Blast — Usher originally bought the property in 1998 for $1.2 million from [music producer and LaFace Records owner] L.A. Reid. He tried to offload it in 2008 for $1.95 million, but took it off the market two months later.
The singer then listed the home last year for $2.488 million but slashed it down multiple times in the hopes of finding a buyer. He eventually found someone this month, when he sold off the pad for $1.5 million on July 2.

An unidentified male plaintiff is accusing pop singer Usher Raymond of refusing to turn overhis medical records after alleging the singer exposed him to the herpes virus during a secret rendezvous.

The male John Doe — along with Atlanta resident Laura Michelle Helm, L.A. plaintiff Quantasia Sharpton and a Jane Doe — suedUsher last year for exposing them to the sexually transmitted disease.

John Doe claimed he had sex with Usher at a Koreatown spa inLos Angeles. According toThe Blast, he recently filed court documents accusing Usher of refusing to provide medical records.

John Doe said Usher tried to invoke attorney-client privilege and physician-patient privilege to keep his medical records private.Usher accused the man of harassing him with demands for his medical records and has refused to answer his discovery questions.

John Doe is also seeking a protection order over Usher’s medical records to protect Usher’s privacy and prevent embarrassment and distress to him.

John Doe says specifically the medical information he has obtained thus far from Usher, during discovery in the lawsuit, could result in public ridicule and harassment of the singer if the documents were released, according to The Blast.

The 39-year-old father of 2 and his long-suffering wife Grace Raymond recently announced their split, but sources say the couple only pretended to break up to protect their assets.
