Nollywood actress ,Georgina Onuoha has revealed she had a major health scare in September ..She wrote while the whole world celebrated my birthday on September 29, little did they know they were praying and wishing me well. Only few noticed I did not post any celebratory pictures.

With all the beautiful pictures that many cherished, loved and saved, little did they know I was lying down in the Emergency Room receiving blood transfusion, tons of Intravenous fluids.

My life has always been a life of testimony. I didn't know what was wrong, I was extremely fatigued. I take little walks ; I'm panting like someone who just finished a marathon. I climb the staircase, I feel like passing out.. I couldn't even enjoy a beautiful beach walk with my love. I struggle with sleep, my brain can't shutdown for the night. Things were not right.

I called my primary care physician and went in for a checkup. I was sent to do Series of lab. Which I did and went home. Two days later, I was all fine and driving home and suddenly, I got that call." Gina she said!Where are you? I replied, I'm driving home.

She said park your car and submit yourself to the ER. I said why? She said you could pass out any moment, your red blood count is extremely low, which means you are not getting enough oxygen circulation to your brain and heart. I was with my friend Kim. She took me to the ER,I was treated for exhaustion, low hemoglobin and Severe Anemia. Tons of labs were done to figure out why I lost so much blood and survived that longwith a hemoglobin count of 6. The rest is history. I was told by my doctor, Gina please rest, you need tons of sleep, and take it easy with studying.

At every close encounter with my life God has and will continue to keep, watch and preserve my life. Who are mine lord that you are so mindful of me? My lips will always praise and bless you my creator in whom I trust. Those who put their faith in God will never be disappointed. Thanks GG for always being there for me. Thanks @mskimberlyla for all the love and support. Thanks @naomiraheem I'm so glad to have you as a sister.. Serena Williams suffers defeat on comeback

New mum, Serena Williams on Saturday suffered defeat on her comeback from a maternity break as French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko powered to victory in the “first to ten points” final set at the Mubadala World Championship in Abu Dhabi.

The championship is an exhibition tournament. The slow moving 36-year-old Williams looked static and far from full fitness just four months after the birth of her first child and Ostapenko, a 20-year-old Latvian, won 6-2, 3-6, 10/5.“The first match is always really hard after a break,” Williams said.

The 36-year-old American, winner of 23 grand slam single titles, was making a comeback after taking nearly 11 months off to have her first child. Her last match was the Australian Open final, which she won despite being two-month pregnant.“It was good to be back out there. I missed playing, I missed competition, I missed the crowd, the atmosphere so much. It was really nice to be back,” said Williams after the match.“I don’t know if I am totally ready to come back on the Tour yet. I know that when I come back I definitely want to be competing for championships,” she said, refusing to commit yet to the Australian Open, which starts in a little over two weeks.

“I don’t know, but I am definitely looking forward to getting back out there.“I am taking it one day at a time. I am going to assess everything with Patrick (Mouratoglou, her coach) and my team,” she said. It was the first time Ostapenko had playedagainst Williams, whom she described as her “childhood idol”.

I Named My Snake Toke Makinwa Because Every Toke Makinwa Is A Snake - Pretty Mike

Popular Lagos club owner, Pretty Mike, is in the news again for another controversial reason. A few weeks ago, he decided to get himself a new pet and opted for a python.

After he acquired the snake, he took pictures of himself bathing with the reptile and also announced the name of the snake as Toke Makinwa.

Many people took to his Instagram page to express their displeasure over the naming of the snake after a popular on-air personality and author. However, in a chat with Saturday Beats, the popular socialite explained why he named the python, TokeMakinwa.

He said, “I named my pet snake Toke Makinwa because every Toke Makinwa is a snake. I named my pet python Toke Makinwa because I believe that she is not just a snake, but a huge snake – a python.

And this is based on some things she talks about and writes on. There is a lot of cunningness and sneakiness to her.“She is not your normal lady and it is time to let people know. Some people attacked me that why would I name my snake after her but the truth is that the name is patented and she does not have the right to the name.

She is not the only Toke Makinwa in the world; there are so many of them. She might be the more popular one but right now, my pet python is even more popular than her.“The truth is that we did not have any issue before I named the snake Toke Makinwa. She is my very good friend and I have seen her on some occasions. She understands that this is pure entertainment and as entertainers, we could diss ourselves in public but because we are entertainers, we know that when we are behind closed doors, we would talk to each other and settle any issue.

“We would see ourselves and say something like, ‘Mike that was a nice one.’That is the beauty of the maturity entertainers have. We can do whatever welike in public, but behind closed doors, we know it is just for the show. I met her once after the news broke that I named my python Toke Makinwa and the reception I got from her was nice. She just said, ‘Hey Mike, you want them to hear our voice in Lagos State.’ And I told her that it is what we are in the business for.

I even plan to have a ‘meet, greet and take a picture with Toke’ I would take my python out and people would have the opportunity of taking a picture with her (sic).”He shared his reason for acquiring a python as a pet in the first place instead of a dog or a cat like some other people would have opted for.

He said, “I think that a lot of people do not understand the python. In our culture, we were taught that snakes are poisonous and dangerous but in the snake family, python is the only snake that has no venom, it is not poisonous. This is something I would like to educate people about. With the level of education in the country, we are still ignorant about certain things.

“I take a bath with the snake because it is my pet. I am sure a person is allowed to do whatever he likes with his pet. I take showers regularly with my pet; we eat together and go out together. It is my pet and I should not treat it lesser than I would do my pet puppy or cat. I feel like if I do that, I am discriminating against it (sic),” he said.

Dbanj has revealed why he performed on stage with Don jazzy, Mo’hits crew at Davido’s 30billion concert.

The ‘Kokomaster’ as fondly called refuted rumors that he was paid to perform. The Mo’Hits crew comprising of Don Jazzy, D’Banj, Wande Coal, Dr Sid, K-Switch, Ikechukwu and D’Prince split in 2012 over several internal disagreements.

Dbanj’s Managers Frank told Punch, “Let us not get things twisted, not a dime exchanged hands for any reason. The entire performance was not motivated by money at all.

“It was Davido’s initiative, he wanted it to happen at his show so he went for it and he got what he wanted. He spoke to all of the former Mo’Hits crew members individually, they saw his point and they granted his request.” Davido is a good kid, he spoke to every member of the Mo’Hits crew.

He thought about having a Mo’Hits reunion at his show and he got it.“It was an exciting show and D’banj loved the performance. He wanted the Mo’Hits crew to perform at his show because they were people he looked up to before his career started.“He made a request and they all agreed that it could be done. Before the performance, everybody was backstage having fun and when they were through with the performance, they all went to the green room and the atmosphere was a lovely one.

“I was there with them and if you had the opportunity to have seen them bond, you would not have even believe that they ever broke up. There was no awkwardness at all. It was the same ambiance that surrounded them when they were still Mo’Hits.”

Obama Most Admired Man Among Americans- Poll

Former US president Barack Obama is the most admired man in the United States and former secretary of state Hillary Clinton the most admired woman, according to a poll published on Wednesday Dec 27.

Obama came out on top of the annual Gallup survey for the 10th year in a row while Clinton, who lost last year's presidential election to Donald Trump, was named the most admired woman for the 16th straight year.

Seventeen per cent of the Americans polled said Obama was the man they admired most, down from 22 per cent last year. Trump was second with 14 per cent followed by Pope Francis with 3 per cent.

Nine per cent of those polled said Clinton was their most admired woman followed by former US First Lady Michelle Obama with 7 per cent and talk show host Oprah Winfrey with 4 per cent.

Gallup said the poll of 1,049 adults was conducted between Dec 4-11 and has a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

Kate Henshaw assaulted me at an event - Journalist

Veteran actress Kate Henshaw has been accused of assaulting a journalist at a recent event.

According to the journalist David Adejo, who works with The Nation Newspapers, he was beyond humiliated by the actress.'I have never felt so humiliated as I did last weekend during the book presentation of ‘Loud Whispers’, a book written by Erelu Bisi Fayemi, the former first lady of Ekiti State which held at the Civic Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos on December 3, 2017'.

In the course of doing my work as a photojournalist with The Nation newspaper, I needed to capture images of the event which I was duly invited to. Looking for a vantage point during the unveiling of the book, I scurried to take images. However, to my utter consternation, I saw no other person than Kate Henshaw, who was co-mc of the event who started harassing me and other photo journalists present.

All of a sudden, she started hurling insults on the photojournalists as they went about their duty. She freely called us names such ‘fools, animals’ and even asked, “are you crazy?” None of us liked it but at that point, we just focused on taking our pictures.

After the event, I went and complained to Joke Silva who was also a co-MC to report Kate Henshaw to her and asked that the Nollywood actress should apologise to the photojournalists present, including myself for her unruly behaviour because we were angry at her unruly behaviour.

But she rain insult on me and as a messenger, I told my fellow lens guys that Kate wouldn’t apologise. And truly, she did not. Rather, while I was filling my report to office, Kate went after me pointing fingers at me, calling me names, insulting me and even hitting me on the head.

She even asked me to come for a fight, saying she can comfortably beat me. “Youbig head, Pig, Fool, dirty man,” she shouted as she pushed my laptop to the floor. A colleague from The Tell magazine, Kehinde Shonola, pleaded with Kate but it was the turn of the middle age man to get his portion of insult.

Other photojournalists at the event were afraid to talk to Kate so that they would not be insulted by her. Some said it is her usual attitude to insulting men at events and that she has no respect for anyone that asks her to stop. I think Dr. Joe Oke-Odumakin needs to take her campaign to Kate Henshaw and tell her to be more courteous.

Brexit: German minister sees model for Turkey and Ukraine

A "smart" Brexit deal could serve as a model for the EU's future relations with other non-EU states, German Foreign Minister Sigmar Gabriel says.

Turkey and Ukraine were two states that could benefit from the template, he told Germany's Funke media group.

He did not see either joining the EU any time soon, so alternative forms of closer co-operation were needed.
The UK's future relationship with the EU, which it is due to leave on 29 March 2019, is still being negotiated.
The two sides agreed this month on the three "divorce" issues that took up the first phase of negotiations: how much the UK owes the EU, what happens to the Northern Ireland border and what happens to UK citizens living elsewhere in the EU and EU citizens living in the UK.

In June 2016, the UK voted in a referendum to leave the EU after more than four decades of membership.

What did Sigmar Gabriel say?
"If we can reach a smart agreement with Great Britain that outlines its relations with Europe after Brexit, then that could serve as a model for other countries," he said.

He foresaw a "new, closer form of customs union" with Turkey, provided the situation in that country changed. That would appear to conflict with the UK's aim to leave the EU's customs union as well as its single market.

Germany is concerned at Turkey's human rights record under President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, particularly the recent arrest of several German-Turkish nationals.

"It's a good sign that several detained Germans have been released," Mr Gabriel said, but he added there was still great concern over imprisoned journalist Deniz Yucel. "The Turks know how important his fate is for us," he said.

Lagos Approves Establishment Of Six New Public Primary Schools

The Lagos State Government on Tuesday said it had approved the establishment of six new public primary schools under the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB).

The Executive Chairman, Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Dr Ganiyu Sopeyin, who announced this in a statement, said the development was in line with the new government policy on education.

The new schools are Community Primary School, Ibasa, Community Primary School, Ajewanwa,  both in Ojo Local Government Education Authority (LGEA), Oladele Aĺaka Primary School, Ejigbo, Oshodi-Isolo LGEA,  Iju Ajuwon Primary School, Ifako-Ijaiye LGEA, Osho Sholu Primary School, Ewu Oloye, Erunwen, Ikorodu LGEA and Correctional Home for Boys, Oregun, Ikeja LGEA.

Osinbajo dispenses petrol in Lagos

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Lagos for Christmas made surprise visits to two petrol stations at the Lekki-Ajah Expressway on Sunday.

He even helped out to dispense petrol to some motorists.

Accompanied by minister of state for petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu,  he discussed with the owners of the stations and consoled some Nigerians on the queue.

So Superstar singer,Wizkid’s concert ‘WizkidTheConcert’ held last night, but that wasn’t the only excitement that came with the show.

The singer’s perceived industry archenemy,Davido joined him on stage as they performed the latter’s hit single ‘Fia. It was gathered that the stage collaboration came after One Africa Music Fest CEO,Paul Okoyeintervened.

The happy music mogul, who took to Instagram to share a video of the collaboration, thanked Wizkid and Davido for  giving him that Christmas and New year gift he so much wanted.

Robber mistakenly shoots partner todeath during robbery

An armed robber has died from his partner’s bullet during a foiled robbery attack on one Francis Chibueze on Bakery Road, Azikoro village, Yenagoa.

Confirming the incident on Sunday, the spokesman for the Bayelsa State Police Command, DSP Asinim Butswat, told the News Agency of Nigeria that the armed robber mistakenly shot and killed his partner.“On December 22, 2017, around 8pm, a two-man robbery gang attacked one Francis Chibueze of Bakery Road, Azikoro village, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

“As they were trying to attack their victim, one the robbers mistakenly shot and killedhis partner, while the victim, Chibueze, escaped unhurt.“The deceased armed robber was identified as Thankgod Smith, a 25-year-old man.

The partner who shot him has been identified as Peter Napoleon, 23,’’ Butswat told NAN.He said the suspect came to the Azikoro Police Station on December 23, 2017, to turn himself in.The spokesman said the suspect confessed to the robbery and killing of his gang member.

“The suspected armed robber led police detectives to an uncompleted building on Bakery Road, Azikoro village, where the gun was recovered,” he said.

Don’t accept wrapped gifts from strangers' – Nigerian Police issues Christmas warning

'Dibal Yakadi, the Commissioner of Police in Niger today advised Nigerians against accepting wrapped gifts from strangers during the Christmas and New Year festivities. 

Yakadi, who gave the advice in Minna in an interview said such gifts could turn out to be parcel bombs and be dangerous if opened.  He also urged the people to be security conscious, especially while attending public functions during and after festivities. 

He disclosed that the command had already taken proactive security measures to deal with threats to peace before, during and after the Yuletide.  ‘‘We will continue to utilise the avenues of intelligence-led policing, community, visibility policing as well as constant intelligence-led raid on criminal hideouts,’’ he said.  He called on residents to provide useful information on suspicious movements of people, saying this would assist security officials to apprehend criminals at the planning stages of their activities. 

“We are battle ready to deal with any form of security threats to enable people celebrate the festivities in a peaceful atmosphere,

’’ he said. He urged officers and men of the command to continue to put in their best as hard working ones would be rewarded, while the indolent personnel would be sanctioned accordingly.

Charles Manson’s body remains ‘on ice’ over a month after his death

The body of mass murderer Charles Manson remains in limbo, more than a month after his death."His body is still here.

He hasn't been cremated," Sgt. Stephen Wells, a spokesman for the coroner division of the Kern County Sheriff's Office, told the Daily News."Basically, he's on ice," Wells said. Manson died from heart failure and colon cancer on Nov. 19 at a hospital in Bakersfield, Calif.

A heavily redacted prison worksheet obtained by The News said the wild-eyed cult leader weighed only 127 pounds when he took his last breath at age 83.His grandson Jason Freeman, 41, filed a probate case for Manson in Los Angeles County on Dec. 7 and has a court date next month.

Two other men who were prison pen pals with Manson have claimed they received wills from the convicted killer over the years and planned to seek custody of his remains.

So far, the Kern County Sheriff hasn't formally recognized anyone as next of kin."We've been in contact with somebody, but nothing has been established. So we're still actively seeking the next of kin.

Once that is established, they'll make the decision," Wells said. "The next of kin chooses the manner of disposition."Manson's followers killed six people during a terrifying two-night murder spree in August 1969.

Venus Williams won't face charges in deadly crash

Venus Williams won't face legal charges in a June car accident that left one dead.

The driver of the other vehicle, which T-boned the tennis pro, is also in the clear according to a police investigation that concluded neither was at fault."Based upon this investigation and relevant Florida state statutes, no charges will be filed in this case," according to an 18-page traffic homicide investigation released Wednesday by Palm Beach Gardens police. Jerome Barson, 78, was a passenger in a 2016 Hyundai Accent driven by his wife, Linda Barson, 68. The car T-boned Williams’ Toyota Sequoia as she waited in an intersection in Palm Beach Gardens. Jerome Barson died 13 days after the June 9 wreck. Williams was not injured.

In the aftermath of the crash, Williams explained to an officer that a dark-colored car turned left in front of her, trapping her in the intersection when her light turned red and before she was T-boned by the Barsons’ Hyundai. In July Florida police obtained video supporting Williams' claim that she was doing nothing illegal when the accident occurred.

The Barson family initially sued Williams for allegedly causing the accident and running a red light.
