I asked Linda to help me beg Emmanuel Ugolee @Emmaugolee who was the god of entertainment tv then to introduce me to him, so Linda got Eedris’ number from Emmanuel and we called Eedris. I wanted to dye!!After speaking with Eedris on the phone arhhhhaarrhhhhhh it was the best day ever! I told everybody in class that I was close to Eedris, so as an obsessed fan, I’d go to the call centre and call him every time and he was polite enough to pick.

I finished secondary school and Begged tomeet him which he agreed, so my sister Vera and I visited him and that was how Eedris and I became close. Now listen to the real story.I was young, only 16, naive, new to entertainment, obsessed etc but not for 1 day did Eedris ever ever take advantage of my obsession or naivity.

And he made sure that nobody from his crew took advantage of this smallie. He warned them all not to funk with me or they ‘re in trouble.Eedris took me as a daughter, he mentored me and thought me how to rap. I walked, talked and rapped like Eedrishahahhaa. And when I started mixing with other celebrities, they all wanted to take advantage , they all wanted one thing, well, as per young girlwey just enter industry na, that one na sweet fish.

Eedris Abdulkareem - Greed Responsible For Remedies Breakup

How did Remedies come about?
I used to be known as Mr. Remedy before I left Kano. Everyone who knew me in Kano then called me Mr. Remedy. When I was leaving Kano, I told my mother that I was going to Lagos to meet with Kenny Ogungbe and Dayo Adeneye, and that once I saw them, I would become successful.

She advised me not to sleep with another man’s wife, not to backbite and that I should be prayerful.
When I got to Lagos, I couldn’t go to my father’s house because he is a polygamist.
I have learnt so much from that experience and I would never advise anyone to marry more than a wife.

Though we are in good terms now, it wasn’t easy then.
When I came to Lagos, I slept under the bridge at CMS, Lagos Island, for six months. God later directed me to go to Raypower in the Alagbado area of the state.
He told me that I would see Kenny Ogungbe or D1, and that one of them would help me.

On getting there, I couldn’t just walk in since I didn’t know anyone there. Meanwhile, there was an uncompleted building in the area, and I started living there. From there, I monitored Kenny and D1’s cars. One day, the late Steve Kadiri called me and asked what I was doing there.

I told him I wanted to meet Kenny and D1; that I had an idea I wanted to sell to them. Since they were having a concert at the Yaba College of Technology that day, he asked me to come along.

He introduced me to Eddy Montana and asked Gbenga Awe to produce a beat for us. He advised us to stay together, but that in the future, we could decide to go our separate ways. We went to a studio in Alagbado and we recorded Shakomo.
While I was still staying in the uncompleted building opposite Raypower, Eddy went back to his family house. With the help of Steve, I was eventually able to see Baba Keke one day. Unfortunately, he wasn’t in a good mood and he sent me out of the studio.

When Steve returned a few hours later, he asked me to come in again and that was how Shakomo was released. Eddy heard it and rushed to the studio. That was the revolution that created Nigerian hip-hop today.

What lessons did you learn from the breakup?
It was a win-win situation for the three of us, but I think the person who benefited most was Tony. He was not a musician at the time we met in Ilorin at an event. He just loved showbiz and wanted to be successful.

He came up with the money and we needed it to grow. Despite not being a musician at the start, he developed himself. Whenever I was writing songs, he would always watch me. As a result of his passion, he came out with a solo album and made a nice career for himself in the music industry.
Eddy and I also took our chances.
Would it be right to say that the group broke up when money started coming in?
Yes, it was money. It couldn’t have been women because I wasn’t interested in women then. When money came, each person started feeling he could do things alone.

How Kenny Ogungbe saved me from having baby mamas- Eedris Abdulkareem

At a point when singer, Eedris Abdulkareem, thought nothing of sowing his wild oats, he got some wise words from none other than his one-time label boss, Kenny Ogungbe.

Although a lot has been heard about the controversial singer, not much is known about his family life. In a chat with Saturday Beats, the singer opened up on how Kenny Ogungbe, fondly called Baba Keke, helped to shape his life.

He said,“My wedding day was a very lavish one and Baba Keke was my best man. I chose Baba Keke to be my best man because he has always been like the father I never had. I lost my father when I was only three years old. When I was still at Kennis Music, I went to collect my royalties when I met Baba Keke and he called me aside to give me a piece of advice.“He told me that he really loved me and that was why he was advising me. He told me that I should make sure I got married as soon as possible.

He advised me to ensure that I married only one woman and I should not let any woman other than my wife bear children for me. I agreed with him. He further told me to make sure I did not waste my sperm on different women. He told me to settle down and be a responsible man.

That advice has helped shaped my life since then. A lot of girls I dated at the time were not happy with my choice of wife but I was happy about it. In fact, I intentionally avoided throwing a bachelor party because I knew something could happen that night that would ruin my marriage. After we got married, we went on a honeymoon and my wife got pregnant a month later.

”The ‘Nigeria jaga jaga ’ singer told Saturday Beats that the instant he laid eyes on his wife, he knew she was going to be his wife. Just like a scene from a Nollywood movie, the singer said that the first time he saw her, she was a damsel in distress.“I was on my way to the video shoot of my song, ‘Life in Yankee’ when I saw a lady trying to fix the tyre on her car. I take everything that has to do with marriage very spiritual because God says that if you want a wife we should ask him. So, I had prayed for a very long time for God to give me a wife that would compliment me. Immediately I saw her, I parked and helped her fix the tyre. Immediately I saw her, I could feel that she was my wife.

He said,“When I parked to help her, my mind told me she was going to be my wife. The first thing I looked out for was whether there was a ring on her finger. I needed to be sure that she was not married. I also noticed that there was a child in her car.“So, I thought she was either married or a single parent. While I was still assisting her with the tyre, her brother showed up. So, I took him aside to ask if she was married and he said she was not. I enquired about the child and her brother confirmed to me that it was his. I later got her house address from him.”Not leaving things to chance, the singer said that he went to the house the next day and when he knocked on the door, he was confronted by her father.

The father asked what I was doing in his house and I explained to him that I came to see his daughter, Yetunde, and he welcomed me.“I admitted to him that she did not invite me to the house but I came because I did not want my wife to run away. Eventually, she came to meet me but was furious because she did not invite me to her house.“I apologised for the intrusion then explained to her that I wanted to marry her and did not care how long it would take because God told me that she was my wife.“I was not afraid to open up to her in her father’s house because I prayed and fasted for four years before I met her. She was really furious but I tried my best to apologise.

When her father heard all I had said. he asked if I was truly serious and my reply was affirmative.“I later got her number but it took me another six months to convince her that I was not fooling her and that was how it started. She felt that as a very popular musician I had women flocking to me. We are still together 16 years after.”

2Face is a very fake person,a stupid boy-Eedris Abdulkarem

Eedris Abdulkareem has fired back at 2Face Idibia after the legendary singer slammed him and Blackface on Twitter.

He tweeted“Dear Blackface and Idris. As na una sabi music pass, make una do the music and stop talking nonsense all the time. I’m too busy, so this is the only advice and response u’re gonna get from me. Una fit resume una nonsense rants.”But in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, Eedris reminded Tuface that he was the one who introduced him to Kenny Ogungbe of Kennis Records, the record label that shot him to prominence.

He described Tuface as a “fake person who is used to deceiving Nigerians.”“Tuface is the definition of his name. He is a very fake person but you would think he is a good person. Life is not about competition but about doing the right thing when God gives you the power to do it.

My problem with Tuface is this, if he tells you good morning, go and check the time. It was the same Tuface that took Nigerians on a ride; he told them that we should protest, he made so much noise but we all know how that ended. He knows exactly who sent him to do that and after everything, he backed out. So his name is Tuface but he should not call himself Tubaba, he should remain Tuface.

“Eddie Montana and Tony Tetuila are my brothers. We all started together as Remedies, so we have a story to talk about. Plantashun Boys and Remedies area family, we all started together, we went on tours together and there are a lot of things that I saw which prompted me to do the song, Wackawickee MCs. The songwas talking about my experience during the Rothman’s groove tour with the Plantashun Boys. Whether you like it or not, we all have a history together and I saw everything that happened. I came back to sing the song. In the song, I said that Tuface was the Plantashun while the rest are the boys but he should not let it get to his head. Today, God has blessed him but he is still competing with the guy that wrote most of his hit songs.

Why isn’t he helping him and forget about the past? Is that what life is all about?“The world will know about this in the songs that I will drop very soon. The only way he can become Tubaba is for him to become a good person and he should stop lying to Nigerians. He should go backto Blackface, show him love and forget about competition. That is what I am talking about. Besides that, I have no problem with Tuface. I am showing Tony and Eddie love the same way they show me love. I took Tuface to Kenny Ogungbe, he is a stupid boy. He should get it straight to his head, it is not about now. Nobody is competing with anybody. He should get his acts together. Also, we are different from each other, I am a responsible man.

Even if he is a married man now, don’t forget he still has about seven ‘wives,’ so when he is talking, he should watch his mouth because we are different people. Tuface should understand that it is not about competition but speak the truth,” he said.

Eedris told Saturday Beats that he was not sorry for his choice of words; neither did he regret speaking the truth. He said that he was glad that his utterance had made people talk. The singer said, “I am happy I said all the things that I said because it is very important you know where you are coming from and where you are going to. It is only you that can tell your story. They say that it is only when you are dead that people would talk about you, but it is not true. Speak for yourself so that when you are dead, people would not lie against you. The point is that Eedris Abdulkareem added value to the lives of Timaya and some other people. Even Tuface himself, I am the one who took him to Baba Keke for him to sign him under Kennis Music. I am saying this because it is important that people know what is happening, so, you don’t need to start making unnecessary noise. We all make different choices in our lives and the choice I made is that I don’t want to kiss anybody’s ass to make money. I want to speak my mind and say what I have to say. I knew that after saying those things, they would not love or appreciate me but I decided to work hard and be successful. I don’t need to make billions, I just want to be comfortable and live a beautiful life,  which is what I am doing and I am happy about it. I love my life and I am happy that they are all talking, this would make them wake up and start adding values to their songs and the people who buy their songs. We live in a very sad reality but I would keep on talking.

Call me whatever you want to call me but I know that I have added value to the lives of people around me. I thank God that one of my boys, Rafioso, has already spoken; so I don’t need to talk to these people again. The most important thing is for Nigerians to know all these things. Number one you sound like Ghanaians. That’s why you are accepted, that’s why you are not original but because its African music that’s why you are accepted. Who are you to say a thing like that? That’s pride” said Eedris Abdulkareem.

¶ D'BANJ
D’banj is one those who haven’t been spared by Eedris Abdulkareem in his unpopular rage. In an interview with Goldmyne TV, the veteran Nigerian rapper lashed out at D’banj for his 2012 separation from Don Jazzy.“The biggest mistake someone like D’banjmade was to be so stupid and leave Don Jazzy. You know why? Dbanj no gets talent. Na razzmatazz he gets,” he said.

Timaya has gotten his own fair share of insults from Eedris Abdulkareem’s rants. Eedris Abdulkareem lashed out at Timaya, claiming that the star has forgotten his roots and has become an ingrate.
