EXCLUSIVE - R Kelly's bail set at $1m after surrendering to police

Having surrendered to the Chicago police on Friday, February 22, 2019, R Kelly has been told that he can bail himself with $1 million.

The singer has been at the center of a scandal involving sexual activities with minors for many years. Two days ago, it developed into getting slammed with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse on underage girls.

According to the BBC News, though bail has been set for the high amount, R Kelly only has to pay $100,000 to secure his freedom. A judge has reportedly asked the singer to desist from interacting with anyone who is not 18 years old and he must also release his passport for the time-being.

It has been a tough campaign for Steve Greenberg, the attorney defending the 52-year-old musician. At a press briefing a day after R Kelly was arrested, it was quite an ordeal for the lawyer as he tried to discredit lies about his client.

A report by Complex on Sunday, February 24, captured Greenberg having an intense argument with a reporter who tried to defend one of Kelly's alleged victim. The attorney felt the accuser has directed false accusation at his client who "doesn't have to have nonconsensual sex."

R Kelly is expected to appear in court on Friday, March 8, 2019, following the charges files against him.

PEREZ HILTON UPDATE - Cops Rush To RKelly's Chicago Home After Caller Claims Singer Has Two Women Held Hostage

R. Kelly probably didn’t count on cops banging down his door on Friday afternoon , but after an anonymous caller allegedly phoned Chicago police about an apparent hostage situation at the singer’s place, cops came out immediately.

It all started on Friday afternoon when an anonymous tip came in that Kelly was at his Trump Tower home and was allegedly holding two women there, both against their will.
(BTW, how sadly appropriate is it that Kelly lives at Trump Tower?! Ugh!)

Anyways, five officers barged into the home, according to TMZ , and confronted Kelly and the women — named as Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary — about whether they were being held against their will by the singer.

Both women apparently maintained that they were there voluntarily, and nothing illegal was going on; though others in their circle reportedly believe the women are being manipulated by Kelly, there was little for cops to do at that point.
Police left without incident — though things could have turned out very differently .
Regardless, it just goes to show how high tensions are right now around everything R. Kelly-related. Scary!!!

Exclusively - John Legend Defends His Decision to Appear in R. Kelly Docuseries

John Legend appeared in Lifetime's much-hyped docuseries Surviving R. Kelly , which aired on Thursday night. Legend took to social media late Thursday to comment on his appearance after the first two episodes aired.

"To everyone telling me how courageous I am for appearing in the doc, it didn't feel risky at all. I believe these women and don't give a f*** about protecting a serial child rapist. Easy decision."

He continued:

"Also I'm happy to support the work of people like my friends at @ALongWalkHome who have been speaking out on behalf of the survivors for a long time."

Legend also thanked the series director and producer dream hampton on Twitter, writing:
"We should all thank my friend @dreamhampton for her very necessary work to create #SurvivingRKelly. These survivors deserved to be lifted up and heard. I hope it gets them closer to some kind of justice."

Legend was the only bold name celebrity who agreed to appear in the docuseries.
"It was incredibly difficult to get people who had collaborated (artistically) with Kelly to come forward," hampton told the Detroit Free Press . "We asked Lady Gaga. We asked Erykah Badu. We asked Celine Dion. We asked Jay-Z. We asked Dave Chappelle -- people who have been critical of him. That makes John Legend even more of a hero for me."

The six-part docuseries focused on the testimonies of multiple women who claim the R&B singer/songwriter molested and abused them over the years.
The 51-year-old singer was accused of molesting several young women -- one as young as 14 -- over the past 2 decades. Kelly was acquitted of 21 charges of child pornography in a highly emotional trial in his native Chicago in 2008.

Since then he has faced more accusations -- including allegations that he kept a harem of young women hostage in 2 mansions in the suburban Atlanta area. But no charges were filed against him.

CELEBRITY - Spotify removes all of R. Kelly's songs from its playlists amidst sexual assault allegations

Music streaming service Spotify has removed all R Kellysongs from its own playlists amid sexual assault allegations against him.

R. Kelly's songs can still be streamed on Spotify, and users can add them to their playlists, but they no longer feature in Spotify’s own mood-based playlists, nor their branded playlists.

The move by Spotify is part of a new content policy being rolled out by the company, which will no longer promote what they describe as “hateful conduct”.

Spotify wrote in a statement: "We don’t censor content because of an artist’s or creator’s behavior, but we want our editorial decisions – what we choose to program – to reflect our values.“When an artist or creator does something that is especially harmful or hateful, itmay affect the ways we work with or support that artist or creator.

”Spotify cited “hatred or violence” based on “race, religion, gender identity, sex, ethnicity, nationality, sexual orientation, veteran status, or disability” as being liable for policing on the service.R. Kelly has been accused of running a sex cult where young girls are brain washed and kept against their will. 

He has also been accused of paedophilia. So far, he has gotten away with this. But people are beginning to call onorganisations that work with him to drop him.
