Exclusively - John Legend Defends His Decision to Appear in R. Kelly Docuseries

John Legend appeared in Lifetime's much-hyped docuseries Surviving R. Kelly , which aired on Thursday night. Legend took to social media late Thursday to comment on his appearance after the first two episodes aired.

"To everyone telling me how courageous I am for appearing in the doc, it didn't feel risky at all. I believe these women and don't give a f*** about protecting a serial child rapist. Easy decision."

He continued:

"Also I'm happy to support the work of people like my friends at @ALongWalkHome who have been speaking out on behalf of the survivors for a long time."

Legend also thanked the series director and producer dream hampton on Twitter, writing:
"We should all thank my friend @dreamhampton for her very necessary work to create #SurvivingRKelly. These survivors deserved to be lifted up and heard. I hope it gets them closer to some kind of justice."

Legend was the only bold name celebrity who agreed to appear in the docuseries.
"It was incredibly difficult to get people who had collaborated (artistically) with Kelly to come forward," hampton told the Detroit Free Press . "We asked Lady Gaga. We asked Erykah Badu. We asked Celine Dion. We asked Jay-Z. We asked Dave Chappelle -- people who have been critical of him. That makes John Legend even more of a hero for me."

The six-part docuseries focused on the testimonies of multiple women who claim the R&B singer/songwriter molested and abused them over the years.
The 51-year-old singer was accused of molesting several young women -- one as young as 14 -- over the past 2 decades. Kelly was acquitted of 21 charges of child pornography in a highly emotional trial in his native Chicago in 2008.

Since then he has faced more accusations -- including allegations that he kept a harem of young women hostage in 2 mansions in the suburban Atlanta area. But no charges were filed against him.

Couple, Chrissy Teigen, John Legend share first photo, announce name of newborn son

John Legend and Chrissy Teigen have announced the name of their newborn son and shared a first photo.

The model took to her Instagram page on Sunday, May 20, introducing their fans to Miles Theodore Stephens.

Recall that Teigen, 32, welcomed her second child » with Legend, 39, on May 16, 2018.

Their bundle of joy arrived barely days after she tweeted about being five days over due and being over her pregnancy.

The Lip Sync Battle host also announced the arrival of her bundle of joy on social media, tweeting, “Somebody’s herrrrrrre!” with baby bottle emojis.

Teigen and Legend tied the knot in September 2013, and are alright parents to 2-year-old Luna

Celebrity, John Legend Slams Trump for Calling MS-13 Gang Members ‘Animals’ — ‘All Criminals Were Babies Once’

John Legend took his hate for President Donald Trump to another level when he defended MS-13 gang members on Twitter.com . Legend took to Twitter to slam Trump from the hospital where his wife, Chrissy Teigen, gave birth to their son.

The pop singer was furious that Trump referred to violent MS-13 gang members as “animals”.
Trump made the remarks during a White House meeting, where a California sheriff expressed her dismay that California is a “sanctuary state.”

Referring to the MS-13 gang members, who use machetes to chop up their victims in American cities, Trump replied: 

“You wouldn’t believe how bad these people are. These aren’t people. These are animals.”

But John Legend objected to Trump’s use of the word “animals” to describe the violent gang members.

In a bizarre series of tweet that sounded like a script from Saturday Night Live, Legend wrote:
“Even human beings who commit heinous acts are the same species as us, not ‘animals.’ I’m in the hospital with our new son. Any of these babies here could end up committing terrible crimes in the future. It’s easy, once they’ve done so, to distance ourselves from their humanity.”

Laughably, Legend added that violent criminals were once babies, too, and they shouldn’t be dehumanized.
“It’s much more honest and challenging to realize they were all babies once and think about what in society, their home life, etc took them from baby to violent gang member[s]. And then to think about collective action we could take to mitigate these conditions.”

He then blamed American policy for making MS-13 the formidable gang it is now.
“And we should particularly interrogate the role of American policy in helping to make MS-13 the organization it is now.”
But he didn’t stop there. He added: “Dehumanising [sic] large groups of people is the demagogue’s precursor to visiting violence and pain upon them. It makes it easier to destroy their families and much worse.”
Legend’s ridiculous tweets attracted widespread criticism and anger from social media users, with one accusing him of comparing violent gang members to “innocent children”.

“No, I’m saying some innocent children grow up to be gang members. do you dispute this obvious fact?” Legend shot back.
And when another joked that the MS-13 gang members were “fine people”, John replied: “Nope. But they’re human. Nazis were humans. KKK members human. The people who do the absolute worst things are still human. Calling them animals may make us feel better. Doesn’t make it true.”

Legend’s mentions are in shambles as his followers object strenuously to the pop singer apparently sympathizing with KKK members and nazis.
