Rotimi Amaechi reveals how politicians kill Nigerians

Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Transportation, has revealed how Nigerian politicians “commit manslaughter.”

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State said politicians commit manslaughter through corrupt practice, a menace which he said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government was determined to end.
Speaking with Newsmen, the Minister, however, noted that all Nigerians should have access to the country’s treasury and not a few who loot it.
He said some politicians loot money meant for the building of hospitals and good roads, thereby causing the death of Nigerians.

He said, “If I steal, maybe a $100,000 from my ministry and give to you, you will say ‘oh, Amaechi is the most generous minister’ but you didn’t ask me where I got it from.
“Now, you go home and give $50,000 to your wife and she takes $20,000 and gives to her mother, her mother goes to the market buys egusi and the woman she bought egusi from pays school fees, the person he pays school fees repairs his door, the carpenter that fixes the door, takes money to buy uniform for his child, the tailor that sews the uniform pays for a burial.

“You see how the economy runs and that is the economy of Nigeria and we are saying it just cannot continue, the economy has to be productive; that is what the president is saying. If you want to have access to the national economy, to the national treasury, then everybody should have that access, it should not be where only few of us who have access to it should loot the economy of Nigeria.

“How do we politicians kill by accident? The money that is meant for the people and earmarked to be used for building hospitals, you take it for your private use and the hospitals are not built and so Nigerians go to hospitals where there are no drugs and they die without knowing it.

For me, you have committed manslaughter and the problem for me is that Nigerians don’t hold us accountable!

Wife stabs husband to death over telephone call in Lagos

A 23-year-old housewife, Damilola Ayeni, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly stabbing her husband, Olumide, to death at their house on Bamgbose Street, Lagos Island.

It was learnt that the duo, who got married about two years ago with two children together, had a disagreement at their home on Friday. The woman was said to have stabbed the 36-year-old husband in the chest.

He was rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital where he died.
The deceased’s father, Sunday Ayeni, who reported the case to the police, told our correspondent on Sunday that the couple’s marriage was fraught with disagreements.
The Ikale, Ondo State indigene explained that he had tried to intervene, but he was stopped by some family members, who warned him to back off.
He said his son was murdered by the wife over suspicion of infidelity.
Sunday said, “My son and I work at the Lagos Island General Hospital. While I work as a security guard, he worked in the pharmacy department. They got married at the Ikoyi registry.
“They had issues many times and my son reported her to me. I told them to go their separate ways, but people said I should not come between them.
“On Friday, after my son and I closed from work in the evening, he went for a party. Around that time, he called his wife on the telephone and they spoke.
“When he returned home that night, his wife waited for him at the door and stopped him from entering. She said she heard the voice of a woman in the background when they spoke on the telephone and accused him of infidelity. That was how she stabbed him in the chest and killed him. There was no struggle between them. Their two children were taken away by the wife’s mother. She has a three-month-old baby.”
He demanded justice for his son, describing him as gentle and easy-going.

A source, however, told our correspondent that the woman in her statement to the police said she acted in self defence.
The source noted that the Lagos State indigene claimed that her husband was the aggressor.

He said, “The woman said the deceased called her mobile phone sometime in the evening, but she missed the call. When he came back home around 1am on Saturday, he queried her whereabouts when he called her phone. He accused her of infidelity and charged at her with a knife. She then picked the kitchen knife and stabbed him in self-defence.”
It was gathered that the remains of the Ondo State indigene had been deposited in a morgue awaiting autopsy.

The suspect, who was arrested by policemen from the Lion Building division, had reportedly been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Yaba.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, said the Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, was saddened by the rise in spousal killings.
He said, “Early Saturday morning, the police got a report that a woman, Damilola Ayeni, stabbed her husband, Olumide Ayeni, with a knife on the left side of the chest. The victim was rushed to the Lagos Island General Hospital where he died.

“The CP advises couples to resolve their matrimonial disputes amicably without resorting to violence which may ultimately lead to the death of either of them.”

CRIME! - Ex-First Lady, Patience Jonathan's Companies Lose Application To Change Plea In $15.5m Fraud Trial

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has dismissed an application by four companies which pleaded guilty to laundering $15.5million allegedly belonging to former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan.

The companies — Pluto Property and Investment Company Limited, Seagate Property Development and Investment Company Limited, Transocean Property and Investment Company Limited and Globus Integrated Service Limited — had asked the court to reverse their guilty plea and nullify the previous proceedings because those who represented the company were not authorised to do so.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned the companies alongside a former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to President Jonathan, Dr Waripamo Dudafa, a lawyer Amajuoyi Briggs, who is the companies' secretary, and a banker with Skye Bank Plc, Adedamola Bolodeoku.

Unlike the companies, Dudafa, Briggs and Bolodeoku pleaded not guilty to the 17-count charge.
The companies’ lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), told Justice Babs Kuewumi that his clients were not given a fair trial before their conviction because they had no legal representation of their choice.

Ozekhome said he was briefed to represent the companies after its directors pleaded guilty despite not being authorised by the board to do so.

Moving his motion seeking to set aside the companies conviction, Ozekhome said they were convicted “in gross violation” of the 1999 Constitution, which he said occasioned a miscarriage of justice.
He prayed that the trial be done de novo (afresh) and that the previous proceedings be declared null, void and unsustainable in law.

The application, he said, was on the ground that the court failed to pass a sentence on the convicted companies, as the judge reserved sentence until end of the other defendants’ trial.
Besides, Ozekhome said the companies were denied the right to cross-examine the purported directors who purportedly pleaded guilty.

“They’re just busybodies and interlopers who were pressured to come and plead guilty. They had no mandate to do so,” he said.
But prosecuting counsel Rotimi Oyedepo urged the court to refuse the application for being an abuse of court process.

According to Oyedepo, the application amounted to asking the judge to revisit his ruling and to assume the position of an appellate court.
He denied that the directors who pleaded guilty were not authorised to do so, saying there was evidence that they were indeed the company directors — from the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and from the companies’ bank accounts.
At Tuesday's proceedings, the companies were represented by Mr. Oluigbo O, who hold the brief of Chief Mike Ozakhome (SAN), Mr. Ademola Adefolaju, who stood in for Gboyega Oyewole (SAN), for Dudafa, and Ige Asemudara, who represented Briggs.
Ruling on the application, Justice Kuewumi held that a lower can only reserve himself in exceptional cases where there is “a serious procedural irregularity” or where the court lacks jurisdiction.

The main issue to be addressed in this application is whether this court can revisit its earlier decision whereby the applicants were convicted. Once a court gives an order or judgment, it has no legal competence to reverse itself or set aside its previous order," the judge held.

“Considering the circumstances of this case, I have not been shown any valid reason to make me revisit my decision. This court is already functus officio. I’m in agreement with the prosecution that this application is incompetent. It is hereby refused and accordingly dismissed."
The matter has been adjourned until October 17 for hearing.

[CRIME] Barber bags 42 years in jail for robbery

An apprentice barber has been sentenced to 42 years in prison for robbery. Samuel Edet was sentenced at a Lagos High Court in Igbosere.

Justice Sedoten Ogunsanya convicted Edet of robbing an aluminium technician Adewale Elelo of his Nissan Pathfinder on February 21, 2012. She sentenced him to 21 years imprisonment for conspiracy to commit robbery and another 21 years for robbery.

The sentences, which were without an option of a fine, willrun concurrently, meaning Edet will spend only 21 years in jail, The Nation reports. The Akwa Ibom native was arraigned on April 27, 2015, ona two-count charge of conspiracy to commit robbery and robbery. Prosecuting counsel Haroun Adebayo said the offences contravened sections 297 and 295(1) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. Edet pleaded not guilty. During a nearly three-year trial,Elelo testified that the incidentoccurred on June 15, 2012 between 10 and 11pm.Elelo said: "I was returning from a C & S Church after a revival when, at St. Paul Street, along Agbado Road, leaving Toyin Bus Stop, the second street by the left, I saw a black Jeep waiting ahead of me. I drove towards it slowly and the car flashed its full headlights at me.

I became afraid."He (Edet) alighted from the Jeep and accosted me, asking me to alight and demanded formy key. He asked me to get into the boot of my vehicle, butI ran away and pressed the remote control of my vehicle that was in my pocket. "I got to a police check point at Toyin Bus Stop and alerted the police that I had been robbed.

The policemen and passers-by came to my rescue and found the defendant in the car because the remote control had made the car immovable."According to Elelo, Edet’s accomplices zoomed off as soon as the crowd arrived. But Edet denied the allegations. He described himself as the victim of police illegal arrest.

Edet said: "I live at Ajegunle and work as an apprentice barber. I was on my way to look for a shop or work when at Ojuelegba Bus Stop I saw people running and shouting ‘Ole’ ‘Ole’ meaning thief, thief and I was arrested and taken to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), where the police wrote something on paper and asked me to sign.

"According to Edet, he was threatened that if he refused tosign he would be shot; hence, be signed. But Justice Ogunsanya held that Elelo’s testimony, as well as that of the other eyewitnesses, were credible. She observed that there were several inconsistencies in Edet’s testimony, including his statement that he was looking for a shop or work at about 10:30pm on the night of the robbery. The court also noted that in Edet’s written statement to the police, he confessed to the crime, and that the confessional statement was not challenged by his counsel when it was tendered in court by the prosecution.

Justice Ogunsanya said: "The court is satisfied that the defendant is as guilty as charged."

Fake F-SARS Commander, Officer Arrested

A fake Commander of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (F-SARS), Kenneth Obunwa, and a fake officer of F-SARS, Oluwagbenga Abe, have been arrested in Rivers State by the authentic operatives of Akin Fakorede-led F-SARS and they will soon appear in court.

Obunwa, an indigene of Egi in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State and Abe, who hails from Ijero-Ekiti in Ekiti State, both married with children, were arrested Tuesday morning by operatives of F-SARS at Igwuruta near Port Harcourt in Ikwerre LGA of Rivers state.

A landlord in Igwuruta, Mr. John Onwaduegbo, told a reporter of The Nation newspaper Tuesday evening in Port Harcourt that Obunwa and Abe, who he said introduced themselves as operatives of F-SARS, came around 9 p.m. on Monday to the house of Pastor Moses Finan and held him (Finan) and his younger brother, Silas Lohsing, hostage for some hours and extorted money from them, brandishing a machete.

Onwaduegbo insisted that he saw Obunwa with the machete, which Abe said he was always keeping in his Volkswagen Golf car, which was still at the headquarters of F-SARS in Port Harcourt, as at the time of filing this report.

Obunwa and Abe, who claimed to be members of Kaduna-based Vigilante Group of Nigeria, while separately speaking with The Nation in Port Harcourt, stated that in the last six months, they had been involved in voluntary night security job in Igwuruta, claiming to be known by the area’s monarch and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Igwuruta Divisional Police headquarters, having earlier arrested many armed robbers and other criminals in the area, who they claimed were handed over to the DPO.

Rivers Commander of F-SARS, who is also a lawyer, while speaking on the arrest, disclosed that at 7 a.m. Tuesday, F-SARS received a distress call that Obunwa and Abe, who claimed to be operatives of F-SARS, accosted Pastor Finan and his younger brother and subjected them to thorough search in their compound at Igwuruta, with undisclosed sum of money extorted from them.

Fakorede, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), who hails from Ekiti State, said: “The suspects impersonated as operatives of F-SARS and they have been doing it for a while. We quickly responded to the distress call, because the members of the public adequately utilised the distress lines that we gave. We traced the impersonators and we arrested them.

“We have a lot of miscreants who are impersonating security agents, especially F-SARS, thereby harassing, intimidating and extorting money from innocent members of the public, who ought to be very vigilant.
“I wish to admonish members of the public that whenever they find operatives of F-SARS extorting money or persons claiming to be from F-SARS, but involved in impersonation, they should please notify F-SARS through these numbers: 08054000001, 08057000002 and 08057000003, as well as Rivers State Police Command’s Control Room numbers: 08098880134 and 08032003514.”
Rivers Commander of F-SARS also disclosed that the two suspects would be thoroughly investigated and they would soon appear in court, to serve as a deterrent to other criminal-minded persons.

Inspector General of Police gives update on Billionaire Kidnapper Evans

The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has revealed that kidnapper Evans will be charged to court soon.

According to Idris, the delay in Evans’prosecution is due to police investigations to track down his accomplices within and outside the country.

Idris who spoke at a seminar recentlysaid,

“Evans will be charged to courtvery soon. This is a man who has over the years been involved in kidnapping, collecting money in millions ofdollars and harassing Nigerians from the various parts of the country.

“What we are doing now is to ensure that we conduct thorough investigations so that anybody involved will be brought to book.“It seems kidnapping is becoming attractive to the youth. The more we arrest, the more they are coming up. But Ibelieve that with special courts, this will be addressed.”He said plans were underway to recruit more policemen to effectively pursue the principleof community policing.“We need the cooperation of the public.

There is no way we can succeed without their cooperation. We need the National Assembly to give a positive view of the Police Trust Fund and I believe with that, we can change the imageof the police in the country,” he added.

(Must Read) Girls run mad, become sick or useless after we use them for Yahoo plus – Suspects

Arrested 26-year-old fraudster, Hakeem aka H Funds, who disclosedhe dropped out of school in 100 levelto embracecyber fraudand eventually going into Yahoo plus which involves rituals, has also dropped some mind blowing confession.

According to Hakeem, he has been able to use voodoo, otherwise knownas ‘Yahoo Plus or Science’ to get money from unsuspecting victims, buy cars and build a house.He said;

“After spending lavishly, we sometimes go bankrupt. So, wehave no choice than to use metaphysical powers to hypnotise our victims online. The act of using voodoo is whatpeople nicknamed ‘Yahoo Plus.’“I use it so that the victim, otherwise known as a ‘client’ will fall deeply in love with me and obey my every command. At least, I have been into dating scam for a while now and I can boast of two cars and a house.”“I use voodoo for dating scam. Iuse it to spellbind my online victim and make him or her easier to control. There are different kinds of voodoos; one is to use the image of the white client, another one is to make incisions on our hands, place our legs on a tortoise or take the client’s name to a cleric or native doctor.Sometimes, we take our phones and computer to the shrine. The type of Yahoo Plus Ido is to take client’s name to the shrine.

”25-year-old Lanre, who also confessed to defrauding unsuspecting victims online, however said he wouldn’t have succeeded in internet fraud alongside his younger brother, if their mother didn’t step in. According to him, after buying a car through his first scam proceeds, his mother took them to a herbalist and introduced them to the new level of cyber fraud.

He said: “Although my father is late, we have been successful in this cyber fraud business because my mother supports my brother and I. My mother took my younger brother and I to a woman’s place. The woman took us to a river and bathed us. Asides that, I do other sorts of rituals like ‘Oshole.’ Once you have done Oshole, you will succeed in every kind of internet scams.I must confess that I have achieved a lot by God’s grace. I haven’t seen any repercussion because I do go back to the herbalist’s place to renew my voodoo.

”Another internet fraudster, who gave his name simply as T Money, said that he had been using black magic for his cybercrime for long. 27-year-old T Money, a 200 Level dropout said after he abandoned his university programme, tried his hands on several menial jobs, but failed to succeed in any, he decided to go into cyber fraud. He went further to disclose why he went into the occult world of Yahoo Plus.

He said: “When I started the internet fraud, I couldn’t earn much. I only earned enough to buy clothes, some pair of shoesand an IPhone.”According to him, while his friends were hitting big money and living lavish lifestyles, he was counting pennies. He said: “I became intrigued on how my friends were making good money. I asked questions and got answers. It was the answers that led me into YahooPlus. It is what most of my friends do. I went to meet an Islamic cleric.“I was into dating scam when I first started. The dating scam was not really fetching huge amount of money. I began using Yahoo Plus because my friends were making it big and buying cars. Once they make big money, they will go and lodge in hotels. I desperately wanted to belong. I wanted to know what it feels like to be rich. I had no choice than to meet the cleric whom I paid money for the ritual. Look at metoday, I’m doing fine.

”A cyber fraudster, who introduced himself as Sir Cash, 28, said there were different categories of Yahoo Plus – ‘Oshole’ and ‘Irapada.’ According to him, the two are used to enhance internet scam operations.

He added: “There is another Yahoo Plus. It is very bad and dangerous. It entails using the ‘glory’ of innocent girls. You rubsomething like oil into the private part of a girl before having sexual intercourse with her. She either becomes sick orwill never amount to much in life. We also use prostitutes. Most of these rituals have repercussions. One must be very careful.“Most of us do a voodoo called ‘Oshole.’ Oshole has little or no repercussion and most of us use it. The way Oshole works is that it compels the victim to pay money.

”According to Sir Cash, there are various repercussions to the use of voodoos on girls. One of the repercussions is insanity. He said: “There are some of our guys, who after using the voodoo get richer, but also forget to return to the shrines orclerics to renew their voodoo. That’s when problems start.”
