Ryan Reynolds Is Nearly Crushed By Broken Barricade And Hundreds Of Fans At Brazil Comic-Con

Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds attended CCXP 2019, a Comic-Con Experience, in São Paulo, Brazil this past weekend to promote his new movie Free Guy. But, the event nearly turned tragic when Reynolds jumped off stage to shake hands with the crowd and a barricade broke, nearly crushing the actor.

Reynolds was on stage in front of thousands of screaming fans when he jumped off for a moment to shake some hands, and as soon as he did that the barricade broke. Reynolds was somehow able to use his quick reflexes and jump out of the way before being crushed. If he would have taken a second longer to move out of the way, the barricade – along with hundreds of fans – would have trapped the Detective Pikachu star.

Numerous fans caught the scary moment on video and immediately posted the clip to social media. Security immediately stepped in to make sure Reynolds wasn’t injured, but the 43-year-old actor was more concerned about the fans who fell when the barricade broke.

In the video clips that have been posted, it looks like the venue was extremely overcrowded, as both barriers around the small stage broke. According to The Blast, no one suffered any major injuries, and the event continued as scheduled.

At the event, Reynolds debuted the trailer for his new film Free Guy, which is about a non-playable character in an open-world video game who one day decides he wants to get involved in the action. The film also stars Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, and Joe Keery.

Other stars at the CCXP event included Daisy Ridley and the cast of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

Ryan Reynolds has also made headlines lately for his genius marketing decision to cast actress Monica Ruiz in his new commercial for his alcohol brand, Aviation Gin. Ruiz played the wife in the controversial Peloton commercial that went viral in recent weeks.

In the Aviation Gin commercial, Ruiz is sitting at a bar and appears to be stressed and slightly traumatized from the drama surrounding the Peloton ad while drinking Aviation Gin. She then suddenly says, “This gin is really smooth.”

When Ryan Reynolds posted the commercial on Instagram, he wrote in the caption, “Exercise bike not included.”
