Akin Ogunbiyi accuses Ademola Adeleke of violating senatorial ticket agreement

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State , Dr Akin Ogunbiyi , has accused the governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, of backing the Director General of the Adeleke Campaign Organisation , Chief Lere Oyewumi, to violate the peace deal brokered to resolve the crisis between the duo after the party ’s primary.

Ogunbiyi , who made the allegation in an interview with our correspondent in Osogbo on Tuesday, spoke through his media aide , Mr Ismail Afolabi.
He said, “To resolve the crisis arising from the PDP primary, the leadership of the party resolved that Ogunbiyi ’s camp should produce a candidate who would deputise Adeleke; they conceded Osun West Senatorial ticket of the party to Ogunbiyi himself and also rationalised other issues for peace to reign.

“But the agreement did not see the light of the day. It was breached . Adeleke and his campaign organisation led by Dr Lere Oyewumi picked Hon. Albert Adeogun, an indigene of Ife as the deputy governorship candidate and frustrated the move by the party to substitute Adeogun’s name in line with the said accord. Ogunbiyi and his camp were sidelined thereafter.
“Backed by Adeleke , Lere Oyewumi went all out for the Osun West Senatorial ticket , breached the signed agreement between him and Ogunbiyi while the leadership of the party looked away . ”

He added, “Lere contested against himself and yet rolled out results showing that Ogunbiyi participated in the charade he organised in Osogbo , instead of Iwo , the appropriate venue of the exercise . Osun people at the convention were shocked and emotional to see the so -called result of the unfair and highly incredible exercise . It is evident that Osun PDP is sitting on gun powder . We hope that the national leadership of the party will address Lere ’s impunity . ”

But Adeleke debunked the allegation . Speaking through his media aide , Mr Olawale Rasheed , Adeleke said, “We regard the cock and bull story on the Osun- West senatorial PDP ticket as a mere distraction at a time the PDP and the Adeleke Campaign Organisation are busy preparing for legal presentations to reclaim the stolen mandate of the Osun people . At a time all genuine PDP members are praying and contributing to make the legal battle a success , here we are with fake news of Senator Ademola Adeleke being responsible for the action and conduct of a senior member of the party . ”

Oyewumi, when contacted on the telephone, insisted that he won the election in Osun- West while Fadahunsi won the Osun - East ticket , describing Ogunbiyi as a failure .

Oyewumi said, “I am the PDP candidate for the Osun- West Senatorial District. The primary election was conducted on Saturday . The PDP NWC ordered the conduct of the Osun- West and Osun - East primaries yesterday . The election committee was headed by Ambassador Bala Aboki , the same man that was the secretary of the first committee that conducted the Osun Central primary that produced Gani Olaoluwa . ”

WAEC confirms Ademola Adeleke had F9 in English at the 1981 exams

The West African Examinations Council has confirmed that candidate of Peoples Democratic Party for the Osun governorship election, Ademola Adeleke had F9 in English at the 1981 examination of the council.

WAEC made this confirmation before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territoryin Bwari, Abuja,Punch reports.

WAEC stated this in a court filing which it made in compliance with an order issued by Justice Othman Musa on September 11.In the results attached to the documents filed by WAEC, Adeleke was listed as number 149 out of the 221 candidates that sat for the May/June 1981 examinations of the Council at Ede Muslim High School in Ede, Osun State. The results showed that he sat for only English Language in which he had F9.He did not sit for other registered subjects which included Mathematics,  Literature-in-English, Islamic Knowledge and Geography. He also did not sit for Economics and Biology. Justice had directed WAEC to produce Adeleke’s results in a ruling on an ex parte application by two plaintiffs, Mr. Wahab Raheem and Mr. Adam Habeeb.

Justice Musa had in the ruling specifically ordered the examination body to produce in court the ledger containing results of Ademola and his mates with whom he sat for the examinations. He also ordered WAEC to swear to an affidavit either denying or confirming that Adeleke,an incumbent senator representing Osun West Senatorial District in the Senate, sat for the Council’s May/June 1981 examinations conducted by the Council at Ede Muslim High School in Ede, Osun State.

The court ordered that WAEC should file the ledger and the verifying affidavits within five days of being served with the enrolled order. The court also ordered both the Peoples Democratic Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission to show cause within five days from the day of service of the originating summons” why they should not be stopped from recognising Adeleke’s candidacy. Adeleke who is the candidate of the PDP in the governorship poll has been accused of forging his WAEC certificate. But the Senator has since denied the allegation which he said was a lie being peddled by his political detractors. However, in an affidavit deposed to by the Deputy Registrar/Head of School Examination Department, WAEC, Henry Sunday Adewunmi Osindeinde, and filed in response to the court’s September 11 ruling, the examination body confirmed that Adeleke sat for the May/June 1981 at Ede Muslim High School, Yidi Road, Ede.

Osideinde stated that the examination centre number was 19645 while Adeleke’s number as a candidate in the centre was 149.WAEC attached a copy of the results of all 221 candidates that sat for the May/June 1981 in the centre at Ede Muslim High School.Osindeinde said in the affidavit that:“By virtue of my position as Deputy Registrar/Head of School Examination Department, I have read the enrolled order of this court (specifically orders iv, v and vi) dated 11th September 2018 directing and compelling the WAEC to depose to an affidavit confirming or denying the said orders contained in thesaid enrolled order andreferred to in this paragraph And I wish to state as follows:

“The said candidate named in this suit known as Adeleke Ademola, with Centre Number 19645 and Candidate Number 149, indeed sat for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in May/June 1981 conducted by the council at Ede Muslim High School situate at P. O. Box 6 Yidi Road, Ede, State of Osun.“The copy of the result listing referred to by the court order as the ledger containing the results of all the candidates (001 – 221)who sat for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examinationin the said school is hereby certified, attached and marked: Exhibit WA1.”Adeleke has yet to file any response to the case. The plaintiffs’ had contended in the suit that Adeleke’s claim that he sat for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination in May/June 1981 could not be true because Secondary School Certificate Examination had not been introduced then.

They argued that what was in existence then was the West African School Certificate Examination.Justice Musa had fixed Wednesday for hearing in the case, but the court did not sit as the judge was said to be away on an official assignment. The plaintiffs’ lawyer, Bankole Komolafe and the counsel for Adeleke,Nathaniel Oke, SAN, mutually agreed with court officials that the matter be adjourned till September 25.

PDP Urged President Buhari to unfreeze Senator Ademola Adeleke’s account

ABUJA- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to direct the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately unfreeze the private account of the PDP governorship Candidate in the September 22, 2018 Osun election, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and those of his family members, including music star, David Adeleke (Davido).

The party in a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan described the freezing of the accounts as oppressive, tyrannical, provocative and a direct recipe for crisis in the state, “given that the people of Osun are solidly behind Adeleke ahead of the election.”
It also directed its members, including state governors, officials at zonal and state chapters, national and states assembly members, all presidential and governorship aspirants as well as other stakeholders, particularly, in the southwest zone, to immediately commence movement into Osun state with their political machinery to campaign and support the PDP candidate.

“The freezing of the Adelekes’ accounts by an agency of the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government, a week to the governorship election, underscores the fact that APC is mortally afraid of our candidate and has been seeking ways to undermine his electoral fortunes.

“Such savage attack on innocent citizens confirms the viciousness of the Buhari-led APC administration to use any means whatsoever to subjugate Nigerians and appropriate power to itself at all cost.
“Does it not smack of political brutality that President Buhari approved the secret release of N16.6 billion to Osun APC to pay thugs to manhandle voters and rig the election, while his EFCC is unleashed to freeze the legitimate account of our candidate and his family not minding the collateral damage such would have on millions that benefit from the goodwill of the family?

“The PDP therefore calls on the people of Osun state to collectively condemn this wickedness meted out on their son and members of his family and ensure that they use their votes to make a resounding statement against the APC by voting enmasse for their beloved son, come September 22, 2018,” the statement read.

Sen. Ademola Adeleke - I trained Davido with few skills helping him in his career

Nigerian dancing Senator and Davido’s Uncle, Ademola Adeleke, who recently announced his interest in contesting for the governorship position of Osun State, in an interview with Punch disclosed that dancing doesn’t affect his thinking.

I am not a pretentious person but the dancing aspect is justa minor aspect of me.I am a deep thinker and solution- finder.“For example, in one of my recent visits to one of the local governments in my senatorial district, I came in contact with a group of retirees who said they had always wanted to meet with me because I always exude joy and confidence.

“These were senior citizens who needed encouragement in their difficult situationoccasioned by the failure of the APC government in Osun State. “Of course, I spent quality time with themand shared some of the resources God has given to me to make them even happier.

I take dancing as an exercise– Davido’s uncle, Senator Ademola Adeleke

Davido’s uncle, senator Ademola Adeleke in an interview with NationalAssembly TV says he loves to dance and takes it as a form of exercise.

Like we normally say there is time for everything. There is time to laugh. There is time to cry but most of the time I love dancing and I take it as an exercise. My kids got it(dancing) from me, Sina Rambo and B-Red and of course my nephew Davido. I train them and as a matter of fact, they will tell me that Dad, we can’t catch up with you. I love dancing” he said

According to him, he became the face of APC campaigns some years back because of his dancing skills.

When I joined APC briefly, I campaigned with Aregbesola and my late brother. As a matterof fact, we put what is called interload into the campaign because you go to most campaign, it is so dry but when you put an interload into a campaign where you dance, laugh and everything, As a matter of fact, I became the face of the campaign. Without me, there is no campaign. Now that they messed up and I wentto my former party, they are now using it against me that I am dancing.

I even danced withmy daughter. They never knew it was my daughter. They thought it was someone else but I told them that that is a lesson to all fathers, You have to be close to your daughters. I am very close to my children and that is why I dance” he said
