President Buhari may be poorer now than in 2015, says Osinbajo

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo says President Muhammadu Buhari may be “poorer” now than when he was elected in 2015.

Osinbajo said this at a dinner in honour of volunteer supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the presidential villa, Abuja.

The vice-president recounted how he saw Buhari’s assets declaration form in 2015.

“When I looked at his assets declaration form, I was checking it in 2015, I said to him, ‘Mr President, I am so much richer than you, it is an embarrassment’,” he said to which Buhari responded:  “I am only a soldier, you are a big lawyer, so you should have more money than me.”

“I can tell you that he is perhaps even poorer than he was in 2015 when I saw his declaration of assets form,” Osinbajo added.

The vice-president also used the occasion to solicit votes for the APC in the supplementary elections scheduled for March 23, 2019.

“We are still not done with the elections. On the 23rd of March, we still have some outstanding states and as you know we are re-running in about six states,” said Osinbajo.

“And all of the efforts we need to put into those six states, we still need to do. We can’t afford to slack off and say the job is done; we still have some things to do.”

Former Minister of Aviation and chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Femi Fani-Kayode, has described Acting President Yemi Osinbajo, as an emissary of Satan.

Fani-Kayode said Osinbajo has no moral right to blame pastors for not speaking up against corruption in the country because he equally betrayed the body of Christ.
He was responding to Osinbajo’s attacks on Nigerian pastors for failing to lend support to the Federal Government’s anti-corruption war by failing to preach against the scourge.

He stated this at the 30th National Biennial Conference of the Students’ Christian Movement of Nigeria holding in Enugu, adding that preachers were preoccupied with preaching prosperity rather than righteousness.
The PDP chieftain, said via a Facebook post that, “ Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has condemned Church leaders for not supporting Buhari’s FAKE anti-corruption war yet he refuses to condemn the genocide, ethnic cleansing and mass murder that Christians have been subjected to in Nigeria. Shame on him!

“A so-called ‘Pastor’ that refuses to respect CAN, stand up for the Church, protect the rights of Christians and honor the Living God ought to be treated with contempt.
He ought to be excommunicated from the Church and damned for eternity. Supporting and serving those that hate Christians and that seek to wipe out the Christian faith is disgraceful.

“Osinbajo represents everything that is treacherous, ungodly, unholy, weak, cowardly, reprehensible and unacceptable.
“He is not a servant of God but an emissary of satan. He has betrayed the Church. He is the Judas of our time.”

UPDATE VP Yemi Osinbajo presides over FEC meeting

The Acting President , Yemi Osinbajo, and other members of the Federal Executive Council are currently meeting inside the Presidential Villa , Abuja.

Osinbajo is presiding over the meeting in the absence of President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently on vacation in the United Kingdom.
Opening prayers were said by the Minister of State for Environment , Ibrahim Jibrin ; and the Minister of State for Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu.

UPDATE! VP Yemi Osinbajo fires DSS boss, summons IG Idris over siege on National Assembly

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday, August 7, sacked the director-general of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura.A statement by Laolu Akande, his spokesperson, said:“The acting president, Professor Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), has directed the termination of the appointment of the director general, State Security Service, Lawal Musa Daura, with immediate effect.

“Mr. Daura has been directed to hand over to the most senior officer of the State Security Service until further notice.”

Osinbajo also summoned the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Director-General of the Department of State Security, Mallam Lawan Daura at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered that the two security chiefs, who arrived Aso Rock at different times, were to update the acting president on security developments including the blockade of the National Assembly by security officials.

The Inspector-General of Police was thefirst to arrive at about 12.35pm before the arrival of the DSS director general at about 1.15pm.The police and operatives of the DSS early on Tuesday, blocked the main gateof the National Assembly, preventing lawmakers and staff from gaining access into the complex.

VP YEMI OSINBAJO - Business owners in Nigeria to get N10m collateral free loans

Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, says the Federal Government is working towards providing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) a credit facility of N2 million to N10 million without collateral.
Osibanjo made the disclosure at the maiden edition of the MSMEs Award 2018 held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja.

He said that in addition to the one-stop-shop launched in some states to carry the MSME clinics intervention, the Federal Government would soon launch its shared facilities for MSMEs initiative.
Osinbajo said the initiative would be in partnership with the Bank of Industry (BOI), Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC).
“This initiatives will provide MSME access to fully equipped cluster style facilities for which they can pay an affordable fee to operate”, NAN quoted him as saying.

“These facilities would have been pre-certified by relevant agencies like NAFDAC, Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), Industrial Training Fund (ITF) and NEPC thereby removing the layers of bureaucracy that in the past held back many aspiring entrepreneurs.
“In the shared facilities, you already have the requisite licences that regulate your operation. So, using the facilities means that you will not go through all the regulatory bureaucracies.

“We will also partner with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and commercial banks to launch a credit facility that will make available to MSME loans from N2m to N10m with a period of five to seven years with little or no collateral.
“The interest rate will be five percent. All that you need is to provide the committee with a bankable business proposal and guarantor,” he said.
