2019: Sen. Godswill Akpabio assures President Buhari of landslide victory in Akwa Ibom

Senator Godswill Akpabio has expressed optimism that President Muhammadu Buhari will record massive victory in Akwa Ibom State in the 2019 presidential election .

Akpabio, alongside Senator Ita Enang, Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), led a delegation from Akwa Ibom State All Progressives Congress on a courtesy visit to Buhari at the presidential villa on Monday .
While fielding questions from State House Correspondents , Akpabio , said Akwa Ibom State would be the first state to fall for the All Progressives Congress in 2019 .
“ I believe strongly in the saying, “res ipsa loquitor ”, the act speaks for itself.

“From the calibre of persons you saw here today , the strength and character of the delegation, the capacities of the personalities you saw, it is clear that President Buhari will win Akwa Ibom State come 2019 general elections .
“He will not only win , he will win with a landslide; I can predict that the first state in Nigeria to fall to the APC in 2019 presidential election will be Akwa Ibom State .

“Nobody can controvert it; I say so with authority because I have the backing of my people to pronounce it – victory for APC and victory for Buhari come 2019 in Akwa Ibom State ,’’ he said.
He said that he was the governor of Akwa Ibom State for eight years , and could not remember one kilometre of road that was done by the Federal Government in Akwa Ibom State .

Godswill Akpabio I Regret Imposing Emmanuel On Akwa Ibom As Governor

Former Senate Minority Leader, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed regrets for what he called “imposing” the Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel, on the people of the state.

Apologising before a crowd at Ikot EkpenePlaza, Akpabio, who returned from his mother-in-law’s burial at Enugu on Sunday evening, said Emmanuel was the greatest mistake he made in a hurry, and asked to be forgiven.

Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom NorthWest in the Senate, noted that Emmanuel “is a mistake that must be corrected in 2019.”“Udom (Emmanuel) is a mistake that mustbe corrected in 2019. All hands must be on deck to ensure that the mistake is corrected for a people-oriented leadershipunder the ruling All Progressives Congress at the centre.”According to him, “Emmanuel’s administration has failed the people,” forcing him to take decisive actions to correct the anomaly for posterity to be fair on him.

Akpabio spoke of the prevalence of hunger and deprivation in Akwa Ibom State since the Emmanuel administration assumed power, adding that it was time for “holistic action” to liberate the state from the shackles of bad governance.

Akpabio had, in the run up to the 2015 elections, declared Emmanuel, then Secretary to the State Government, next inline to succeed him, even when 26 aspirants jostled for the post.
