Jane Lynch Gets Backlash After Controversial Stance On Billionaire ‘Rights’

Elizabeth Warren talked about Pete Buttigieg‘s exclusive ‘wine cave’ meeting while at the Democratic debate a couple of days ago and now, actress Jane Lynch is also weighing in on the controversial fundraiser. However, after the Glee star shared her opinion, she got quite a lot of criticism on social media!

Lynch told Warren via Twitter yesterday that ‘class warfare is ugly’ and that was not all!

She also went on to add that ‘billionaires in wine caves have just as much right say in who gets to be president as waitresses in diners and plumbers in my bathroom.’

However, as well-intended it might have been, a lot of people online were not fans of the message she was conveying and proceeded to defend Warren’s criticism of Buttigieg’s ‘closed-door’ winery fundraiser.

Users pointed out that her stance on the topic only ‘minimizes the corrupting influence of money in politics.’/ ‘When waitresses and plumbers can buy access to people running for president, then we can discuss how class warfare is unfair to the wealthy.’ / ‘One billionaire shouldn’t have more say than all the plumbers in the whole country.’

As for the statement that started everything and which came from Warren, it was delivered at a debate on Thursday, Los Angeles Times reports.

She said in front of the crowd that ‘The mayor just had a fundraiser that was held in a wine cave full of crystals and served $900-a-bottle wine. Think about who comes to that. He’d promised that every fundraiser he’d do would be open-door, but this one was closed-door. We made the decision years ago that rich people in smoke filled rooms would not pick the next president of the United States.’
