Popular Yoruba actress, Motunrayo Adeoye is dead

Popular Yoruba actress, Motunrayo Adeoye who was among the 10 most featured Veteran Yoruba actresses in the industry and niece to a top class traditional ruler in Yoruba Land, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, The Alaafin of Oyo,Oyo State, reportedly died today in Ibadan.


The actress who has been battling withh chronic ulcer for many years, died this morningJune 1st and will be buried today at her residence located at Akobo Ojurin, Ibadan Oyo State today according to Islamic rite.

Motunrayo Adeoye joined BCOS Communication, Ibadan in the 70’s as a studio/audio engineer. Almost immediately after her retirement in 2010, she went fully intoacting.  Her hard-hittingrole in Kunle Afod’s hit movie, Igbekun made her a force to reckon with in the industry.




She graduated from Osogbo Technical College, Osun State where she studied Electronics before she later went to Switzerland for a 7 months course to acquire more knowledge about the profession.Few weeks ago, the Yoruba movie industry also lost one of its own and prominent actress, Aisha Abimbola.


Abimbola, also known as Omoge Campus following the role she played in a Yoruba movie, Omoge Campus, reportedly died from breast cancer, though the cause of her death is yet to be revealed by her family.Her colleague, Bisola Badmus, broke the news of her death on her Instagram page. Breaking the sad news, Badmus wrote: “Unquestionably God RIP Omoge Campus.”



She also shared the picture of the deceased with the caption, “Gone so soon RIP omogecampus.”Paying tribute to the lateactress, Badmus wrote: “I’m still in shock as I woke to hear this sad news. I remember we were together in New York in November 2017 and we had a great time together.
We might not be too close but we got along every time we met.  Continue to rest in peace Aisha Abimbola Ibrahim.”
