Exclusive Report - Senator Dino Melaye regains freedom then sues IGP

Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, has regained freedom after over two weeks in detention.
On Friday, a high court in Abuja granted bail to the lawmaker on health grounds.
In his ruling, Yusuf Halilu, the judge, said Melaye should be allowed to attend to his health as he could not be arraigned on a stretcher or on his hospital bed.
Halilu ordered the senator to present three sureties who reside and have properties in Abuja, emphasisng that one of the sureties must be the clerk of the national assembly who would write provide a letter attesting that Melaye will always be available for trial.
After fulfilling his bail conditions, Melaye filed a suit against the inspector-general of police (IGP), seeking that the police do not arrest him.

Exclusive - Court grants Dino Melaye bail

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in Maitama, Abuja has granted bail to Senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye currently being held in a police health facility in Abuja.

In a ruling on an application by the by his lawyer, Mike Ozekhome (SAN) Justice Yusuf Halilu granted bail to Melaye on health ground.
Justice Halilu was of the view that the Senator must be healthy to stand trial.
According to Ozekhome, since the Senator cannot be arraigned on the stretcher or on his hospital bed, he should be allowed on bail to attend to his health

The judge asked him to produce three sureties, one of whom must be the Clerk of the National Assembly, who must undertake to produce him when he is to be arraigned in respect of a charge already filed against him.
The judge said the other two sureties must be owners of properties within the Abuja metropolis.

Exclusive Report - Dino dtag Melaye to court, Police

The Nigeria Police Force, NPF, has dragged the Senator representing Kogi West in the National Assembly, Dino Melaye before an Abuja Federal High Court over his alleged illegal possession of firearms.

In a charge filed against Melaye, the police claimed that a pump-action gun was recovered from lawmaker’s residence in Kogi State in July 2018 during a search of the property.
The police, in the charge sheet marked FHC/ABJ/CR/07/2019, said the offence contravened Section 27 of the Firearms Act.
The charge sheet read: “That you, Dino Melaye, representing Kogi West district in the 8th National Assembly, on or about the 20th day of July 2018, at about 12.30 hours under the jurisdiction of this honourable court, unlawfully had in your possession one automatic pump-action shotgun and 20 cartridges, which were recovered at your residence located in the Ayetoro Gbede area of Kogi State, when a search warrant was executed on the directives of the Nigeria Police Force at your above mentioned residence under your control and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(a)(i) of the Firearms Act Cap F28 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.”

The police also provided eight witnesses to attest to the charges which comprise six policemen and two men who were painting Melaye’s house when the policemen came to search the property.
The witnesses include: DSP Babagana Bukar, DSP Ibrahim Abalaka, ASP Abdullahi Musa, Inspector Atabo Okpanachi, Inspector Apeh Peter, Theophilus Nuhu, Matthew Anthony and ASP Mohammed Onu.

In his statement, Nuhu, who is a painter, reportedly said: “On July 24, 2018, my master, Peter, brought one Matthew Anthony and myself from Kaduna State to Kogi for painting work in which he took us to one Senator Dino Melaye’s house at Ayetoro, Gbede area of Kogi State.

“While we were doing the painting, policemen, comprising MOPOL, SARS and SCID, came in and met us in the compound and they told me they wanted to conduct a search in the compound and they started to search the compound.
“Within and around the boys’ quarters building, where some cars were parked, under the flower, a gun was observed there with many bullets, but I do not know who put the gun there.”

Exclusive Report - DSS has denies abducting Senator Dino Melaye

The Department of State Services ( DSS) has denied that its operatives abducted Sen. Dino Melaye as alleged in some media.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the service, Mr Peter Afunanya, said that the police brought Dino to its medical facility.
“The Service wishes to state that the information, as being misrepresented by sections of the media, is far from the truth, ”he said.

Afunanya added that there was no time Dino was abducted by the service.
“The fact is that it was the Police that brought him to the DSS facility after obtaining a 14-day detention warrant with effect from Jan.9.
“The aim of bringing him to the Service’s facility is to complement Police efforts in giving the Senator a deserved medical attention,” he said.

He explained that the Service accepted him in line with medical ethics and spirit of inter-agency cooperation.
The spokesman said the clarification became necessary to address the allegation that hooded men suspected to be DSS operatives abducted him from the Police hospital.
“The DSS, therefore, reiterates and assures the public of its commitment to professionalism and respect for human rights in its operational engagements, ”he said.

Also, Force Spokesman, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood had earlier explained in a statement that Dino was moved to the DSS facility in Abuja, for further medical attention.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) recalls that Melaye collapsed after surrendering to the police who had laid an eight day siege on his residence for allegedly failing to honour its invitation with regards to accusation of attempted culpable homicide.

Exclusive Reports - Masked Police Officers Whisk Dino Melaye Away From Hospital

Masked police operatives have stormed the hospital where Dino Melaye, the Senator representing Kogi West, was receiving treatment.

The officers forced the lawmaker, who was on the hospital bed, into an unmarked vehicle and drove him to an undisclosed location, witnesses told Premium Times.Mr Melaye was arrested last week after police laid siege on his home in Maitama, Abuja, for eight days.

He turned himself in after hiding in the house for days. Mr Melaye has been in the hospital since then. Police accuse the senator of being involved in the shooting of an officer in his native Kogi State. More to come later.

Exclusive Report - Dino Melaye finally surrenders to police

TVC news is reporting that Senator Dino Melaye, has finally surrendered to the Nigeria Police Force after eight days siege to his Abuja residence.


According to the report, the senator and lawmakers who came to his house to show solidarity are heading to the police headquarters as at the time of filing thisreport.Senator had refused to leave his residence, prompting more deployment by the police to his house.





A request by Kogi-born senator for police officers to vacate his residence and desist from further attempts at arresting him was on Thursday, January 3 declined by a Federal High Court in Abuja.Melaye had approached the court through his lawyer, Nkem Okoro of Mike Ozekhome (SAN) chambers following allegations by the senator that the police planned to poison him.Melaye had also asked the court to stop the police from what he described as acting in a manner threatening his life or putting his life in jeopardy pending the determination of the substantive suit.
He further sought the order of the court restraining the police from further arresting him, pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.
Judge, N. E. Maha, in his ruling refused the application, but ruled that the matter be granted accelerated hearing.

AGAIN! Dino Melaye fails to appear in court over gunrunning charges

For the second time , the Senator representing Kogi West in the Senate, Dino Melaye , did not appear in court on Wednesday to answer the charges bordering on gunrunning levied against him and two others.
However, the two suspects charged alongside Mr . Melaye — Kabir Seidu , aka Osama; and Nuhu Salihu aka Smally — were in court .


The trial magistrate, Sulyman Abdalah, had, at the last hearing, fixed Wednesday , August 9 , to commence trial following the complaints from Melaye that he was attacked on his way to Lokoja to honour an invitation from the Police .




When the case was called on Wednesday , his lawyer, Barrister Yemi Mohammed , who stood in for Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN ), told the court that his client could not be present in court on health grounds .
Mohammed presented a medical report to that effect, a move that was not opposed to by the legal representative of the Kogi State Police Command , Theophilus Oteme.


The two alleged accomplices , however , applied for bail , saying they have been suffering for a crime they knew nothing about .



Consequently, Abdalah adjourned the case till August 21 for the bail applications of the two alleged accomplices and adjourned to September 20 for hearing in the case of Senator Dino Melaye .

Watch Video As Senator Dino Melaye Declares As The 'Oracle Of God' That President Buhari Will Fail In 2019

Controversial politician, Senator Dino Melaye, who represents Kogi West Senatorial district, on Monday, who attended a political gathering in Abuja, told guests at the event that God has told him that President Buhari is entitled to failure in 2019.

The influential lawmaker made the declaration during a speech after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) signed a memorandum of understanding with the Reformed All Progressives Congress (R-APC) and other political parties ahead of the general elections in 2019.

Speaking during his speech, Dino Melaye said; "APC will lose power in 2019. I am saying this as an oracle of the most high God. I made a call to heaven, and they said Dino, I said 'Yes', speak for thy servenat is hearing.

"I assure you that President Muhammadu Buhari is entitled to failure, 2019 he will fail."

He ended his speech by singing "Oh my home, oh my home, when shall I see my home PDP, when shall I see my PDP, I will never forget my home."

[Dino Melaye] Hurts Himself As He Jumps Out Of Police Vehicle [Read More]

Senator Dino Melaye has hurt himself. The senator was reported to have jumped out of a moving vehicle while he was being taken to Lokoja.

Dino Melaye in the process was said to have injured himself and was taken to Zanklin Hospital in Abuja.

Vanguard had reported that the police was to parade him and other criminal suspects later this evening.

Dino Melaye to surrender himself to police today

Following hours of police laying seige outside his Abuja home, embattled Senator DinoMelaye has announced plans to surrender himself to the police later today.

He made hisplans known in a post he shared on his Facebook page this morning.''I will make myself available to the police today. My resolve to speak the truth and defend the poor massesof NIGERIA is Total.

We shall overcome!!!'' he wroteDino was stopped from traveling out of the country yesterday. He was on his way to Morocco for an official assignment when he was withheld by the police and Immigration officers.He was later released and allowed to go home.

Hours later, the police stormed his home and laid seige around it. Dino says there are plans to kill him for speaking the truth to government.

We've clearly not seen the last of the battle between Senator Dino Melaye and his state governor, Yahya Bello.

In a new video he shared on Instagram minutes ago, Dino Melaye denied allegations that he gave guns to political thugs ahead of the 2019 elections.

Dino also said,'the venom of a viper cannot do anything to the back of a tortoise' before he dropped a new song saying Yahya Bello will go to jail after his tenure.
