Didier Drogba's 17-year-old son Isaac signs contract with French Ligue 1 club, Guingamp

Former Chelsea forward Didier Drogba's 17-year-old son Isaac has joined French Ligue 1 club, Guingamp.

Isaac Drogba, who like his father plays as a striker, has previously played for Chelsea's academy. He joins Guingamp 16 years after his father signed for the club in an £80,000 move from Le Mans.

Didier Drogba, who scored 24 goals in 50 appearances for Guingamp, posted on Instagram: "Couldn't be more proud of you Isaac Drogba."

Didier Drogba spent less than two seasons at Guingamp's Stade de Roudourou before signing for
Marseille , where he spent a year before joining Chelsea in 2004.

He went on to win the Premier League four times, the FA Cup four times and the Champions League, as well as playing 104 times for the Ivory Coast. In an interview in 2015 he said his son, who was born in France, wanted to play for England.

Didier Drogba To Retire From Playing Football

Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has announced that he is retiring from playing football. The 39-year-old, who is playing for Phoenix Rising in America's USL where he also owns a stake in the club, has revealed that he is to hang up his boots at the end of the current campaign.

Drogba made 381 appearances for Chelsea across two spells, scoring 164 times in the process. He won four Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge, as well as four FA Cups, three League Cups and one Champions League.

Speaking to RMC Sport, Drogba said:

"Ah, do you want a scoop? I think next year willbe my last season.At some point you have to stop. I need to have time for my other projects." He added: "It's good to play, but at 39, it holds me back a bit."
