Cardi B Shares Candid At-Home Video of Her Bikini Wax on Instagram: 'Today Is Pain Day'
With hair and nail salons closed across the country due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, many are wondering how and when they can get back to their regularly scheduling grooming habits. However, it seems Cardi B has found a way to maintain one (painful!) beauty treatment.
On Sunday, the “Bodak Yellow” artist, 27, shared a video on her Instagram Stories that appeared to show her getting a bikini wax. Followers watched the entertainer (née Belcalis Almánzar) lay down on a bed wearing a hoodie and a mask as a woman doing the waxing was about to start the hair removal process.
In the clip, Cardi jokingly yelled “No, no, no”, while anticipating the pain, as another person behind the camera tried to calm Cardi down.
The rapper prefaced the video earlier in the day by writing on Instagram, “Today is pain day!”
During the pandemic, Cardi has been self-quarantining at her home in L.A., which is currently under a stay-at-home order until further notice. Only businesses deemed essential are open (such as grocery stores and pharmacies) so Cardi had to skip the salon for an at-home wax instead.
While staying at home, Cardi has been maintaining other beauty routines as well — including her colorful manicures. During an Instagram Live chat with Senator Bernie Sanders, Cardi showed off her at-home manicure skills, pointing out that she had painted her own nails blue because staying home was making her feel “so nasty, so unattractive.”

When the senator, whom Cardi calls “Uncle Bernie,” joined the Livestream, he started off by jokingly asking how his own nails looked. “I want you to take a look at my nails. How are they looking?”
“They’re looking very quarantine,” Cardi replied. “I can tell you’ve been in quarantine for a while now with those nails, but it’s okay Uncle Bernie.”
In addition to waxes, manicures and chatting with U.S. senators, Cardi has also used her time at home to give back. Earlier this month, Cardi donated 20,000 bottles of OWYN — a vegan, plant-based meal replacement supplement beverage — to N.Y.C. hospital staff to keep themselves healthy and nourished while fighting coronavirus on the frontlines.
