Pink Shaves Her Head To Show Her Fans That She’s ‘Letting Go’

During her two-decade long career, Pink has dyed her hair a rainbow of colors – from bright red to platinum blonde – but now she has decided to shave off all her hair to show the world that she is “letting go.” The 40-year-old singer gave her fans a glimpse of the new look with a pic on Instagram.

In the photo, Pink – aka Alecia Moore – is looking down and holding pieces of her hair in her hands, and her 7.3 million Instagram followers can see a top view of her head that features a two-tone look, with dark roots and a small trace of the silver-blonde locks she had been wearing for the last few weeks. In the caption, the Raise Your Glass singer simply wrote, “Letting Go.”

Before she shaved her entire head, the singer had a style that featured her sides closely shaven and a blonde “pseudo-pompadour.”

In September, Pink’s eight-year-old daughter Willow Sage shaved the side of her head, and Pink’s husband Carey Hart posted a pic of the haircut on Instagram.

“Loving my punk rock daughter,” wrote Hart. “Remember everyone, fly your own flag. There is no box to be put in. It’s better to be your own self. Own it, and love it. And if anyone has a problem with it, tell them (politely) to move on.”

Hart added that he couldn’t wait to see the woman his daughter grows up to be, and he has a feeling she will be “strong, fierce, compassionate, and caring.” He ended his caption by saying that he is “so proud” of his daughter.

Body image has been a topic close to Pink’s heart for a long time, and she shared a story about Willow during her speech at the MTV Video Music Awards in August 2017. According to People Magazine, she said during the speech that Willow told her “I’m the ugliest girl I know” and she felt like she looked “like a boy with long hair.”

Pink said she told her daughter that she is beautiful, and when people make fun of the Grammy winner they say she looks like a boy, she’s too masculine, or she’s too outspoken.

“Do you see me growing my hair? Do you see me changing my body? Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?” she asked her daughter.

“Baby girl, we don’t change,” Pink continued, while mentioning artists like Freddy Mercury and David Bowie. “We take the gravel in the shell and make a pearl. We help other people to change, so they can see all kinds of beauty.”

Pink just wrapped up her 20-month long Beautiful Trauma World Tour on November 19th. She is taking a break in 2020 to spend time with her family.
