Peter Weber Defends Himself For Being Chosen As The New Bachelor Instead Of Mike Johnson

Peter Weber was a finalist in the last season of The Bachelorette. The pilot is charming enough, but Bachelor Nation erupted when he was named as the new Bachelor instead of Mike Johnson.

Mike was last season’s fan-favorite by winning over viewer’s hearts in his speech about looking for his fourth queen. He even caught the attention of Demi Lovato who he briefly dated.

This is why when Peter the Pilot was announced as the next man who will be looking for love on reality TV — fans were in an uproar.

Mike previously expressed his disappointment when he said that every Bachelor has been a white man and he thought he could bring something to the franchise that it never had.

‘I think Peter is a good looking dude with his 5 o’clock shadow. He has a fun, super fun job. His family’s amazing. His little brother, I know personally — he’s a dope kid. … I think I would have been more entertaining. I said it, and I’m gonna stick by my word.’

He later went on to say in a separate interview: ‘I think that there should be an Asian lead, an Indian lead… diversity is not just black and white. It’s not just salt and pepper.’

Weber is finally speaking out about the outrage. He doesn’t want viewers to blame him but he does want to be given a chance.

‘A, I didn’t make this decision, right? I was very grateful to accept it and move forward, but listen, regardless of race, of identity or whatnot, everybody is deserving of love. And I’m not the only person. Mike would’ve been a great Bachelor. Tyler [Cameron] could have been a great Bachelor. They picked me and I’m very excited and very humbled and I can’t wait for this journey to begin.’
