Orlando Jones Reveals He Was Fired From American Gods And The Reason Might Make People Angry!

Much to the disappointment of his fans, actor Orlando Jones revealed that he would no longer be part of American Gods after he was apparently fired! In other words, Mr. Nancy, the character he was portraying on the show, is no more!

Jones took to social media to explain that the current showrunner believes the ‘angry’ character might be sending the ‘wrong message for black America’ in the current political environment.

That being said, at this point in time, executive producer Charles Eglee and American Gods’ production company, Fremantle, are yet to address the actor’s claims.

In a video he tweeted, Jones dished that in season 3, ‘There will be no more Mr. Nancy. Do not let these motherf***ers say they love Mr. Nancy. They don’t. I am not going to name names, but the new Season 3 showrunner’s Connecticut-born, and Yale-educated, so he is very smart. And he believes Mr. Nancy’s angry, get s**t done is the wrong message for black America.’

He went on to say: ‘That’s right, this white man sits on that decision making chair and I am sure he has many black BFFs who are advisors and made it clear to him if they did not get rid of that angry god Mr. Nancy, he would start a Denmark Vesey uprising in this country. I mean, what else could it be?’

Eglee was hired as the show’s new showrunner and head executive producer back in May and he fits the description, even though the actor did not drop his name.

American Gods was originally created by Bryan Fuller and Michael Green and is based on the book with the same title by Neil Gaiman.

In response to his post about being fired, Fuller and Green wrote ‘HEARTBREAKING.’
