Keanu Reeves’ Girlfriend Alexandra Grant Explains Why She Chose To Go Gray Instead of Using Hair Dye
When artist Alexandra Grant stepped out with Keanu Reeves for the LACMA Art + Film event in Los Angeles last month, they had the media and fans talking because Reeves has never walked the red carpet with a significant other during his 35-year career. Everyone had so many questions about Grant, and one topic that often came up was the fact that the 46-year-old rocked gray hair instead of dyeing it.
Grant took to Instagram this week to explain why she stopped using hair color when she posted a Newsweek article about a new study that had some shocking results. The research found that women who use permanent hair dyes and chemical hair straighteners are at a higher risk of developing breast cancer compared to those who don’t use chemicals on their hair.

“Wow. Today’s news…” Grant wrote in the caption. “The numbers are staggering, especially for womxn of color. I went gray prematurely in my early 20’s… and dyed my hair every color along the way until I couldn’t tolerate the toxicity of the dyes any more.”
Grant explained that in her 30s she decided to let her hair “turn blonde,” but she also loves and supports the idea that every womxn should be able to choose how she looks at any age. However, if womxn are perishing from beauty standards, then that’s something we need to talk about.
According to The New York Times, the term “womxn” is an all-inclusive term that refers to biological females, transgender women, non-binary individuals, and women of color to include “women and those affected by misogyny, or women-related issues.”
As for her relationship with Reeves, an insider told People magazine after the actor walked hand-in-hand with Grant at the gala that he wants to share his life with his longtime business partner and collaborator.

“Keanu wants to openly share his life with her,” claimed the source. “He is extremely happy and grateful to have Alex in his life.”
The insider added that Reeves and Grant started dating earlier this year, but they wanted to keep things relatively quiet.
The John Wick star first collaborated with Grant back in 2011 for his book Ode to Happiness when she contributed the illustrations. And, in 2016, she did the same thing for Reeves’ book Shadows.
In 2017, the couple co-founded the publishing house X Artists’ Books, and the website explains that their focus is on publishing “thoughtful, high-quality, artist-centered books that fit within and between genres.”
Neither Keanu Reeves nor Alexandra Grant has spoken publicly about their budding romance.
