Harvey Weinstein’s Lawyers Insinuates Some Women In Case Just ‘Don’t Want To Take Responsibility For Their Actions’
Approximately one month before Harvey Weinstein’s sexual assault and rape case goes to trial, his lawyers made several comments that some might find controversial, or even offensive claims a new report from Refinery 29.
At the moment, Weinstein is up against several serious charges, including two counts of felony predatory sexual assault, two counts of rape, and another one for a felony criminal sexual act. It’s possible Mr. Weinstein will get a life sentence if convicted.
The disgraced movie mogul has pled not guilty to all of the charges and claims all of his sexual interactions with women were consensual. During a chat with the hosts of Nightline, Weinstein’s lawyer, Donna Rotunno, claimed the accusers were adding to a cultural phenomenon where women and others “infantilize” themselves when they don’t take responsibility for their own choices and behavior.

Thus far, Mr. Weinstein has been accused of varying forms of sexual misconduct from around 80 women. The New York Times and the New Yorker were the first to come to these numbers in their initial exposes written in 2017.
Harvey is up on charges for incidents from 2013 and 2006, and Donna claims Harvey hired her because she was a woman, stating was chosen specifically to help his case.
“And I think it was probably a good move.” When asked why she chose to defend him, Donna described herself as not the “morality police,” and thinks the mogul deserves a right to defense, which he does under the rights provided to all US citizens under the US constitution.
According to Rotunno, there were emails from the women after the purported assaults where the women seem quite friendly, even quite “romantic.” She suggested any “reasonable person” would assume the assaults didn’t happen from the way the emails were written.
Rotunno, in the same interview, stated there were certain risks and consequences when particular choices are made. She added, “if you don’t want to be a victim, don’t go to the hotel room.”
