Counting On – Does Jill Duggar Need Permission To Visit Her Parents’ House?

Ever since Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard left Counting On two years ago (TLC reportedly fired him after a homophobic Twitter rant, she left in an act of solidarity), rumors have swirled that Jill and Derick had a major falling out with her parents, Jim Bob and Michelle. Now, Dillard has made some incredible claims on social media about his in-laws, and he says that he and his wife are not allowed at Jim Bob and Michelle’s home without the Duggar patriarch’s permission.

Dillard recently posted some pics on Instagram of his family celebrating during the holidays, and he wished his 743,000 followers a Merry Christmas. However, the post turned into a Q&A session with fans when they started asking questions about his time on Counting On and Jill’s relationship with her parents.

The Q&A session started when one fan asked where Derick, Jill, and their two sons Israel and Samuel celebrated Christmas. The University of Arkansas law student said that his family had their own little Christmas, and some international friends joined them.

One fan then asked if Derick and Jill ever go to her parents’ house, and he oddly replied that they aren’t on 19 Kids & Counting anymore. A fan quickly pointed out that TLC canceled that show years ago, but he replied that the network simply renamed the show Counting On.

Another fan noted that Jim Bob and Michelle had worked their way back onto the show, so Jill and Derick should be able to rejoin the cast, too. Derick said that Jim Bob and Michelle are back on Counting On because it’s their show, and he and Jill only make guest appearances for big family events.

Derick has insisted over the years that TLC didn’t fire him, and this answer implied that he was sticking to that story. Then, Derick wrote that he and Jill never had a contract with TLC, and they didn’t know that Jim Bob and Michelle had one.

When a fan asked if there were “hard feelings” between him and his in-laws, Derick said no and then wrote, “There are just more things we are aware of now. The truth will always set you free.”

Derick said he has never trash talked his in-laws, he simply answers questions so people are no longer deceived like he and his wife were.

“For a long time, Jill and I were under the impression that the family didn’t make any money from the show, but, rather, it was presented to us kids as something that was done as a ministry that TLC periodically subsidized in the form [of] reimbursements for things like gas, restaurants, travel, etc. … But not any actual pay on top of that,” wrote Dillard.

Then, Derick revealed that it’s hard to spend time with Jill’s side of the family because they “are not allowed at the house when JB isn’t there.”

“Jill even had to ask JB permission to go over to the house to help her sister when she was in labor because her sister wanted her help, but Jill couldn’t provide the assistance until we got it cleared with JB,” claimed Dillard.

Derick Dillard also told fans that Jim Bob and Michelle led everyone to believe that they didn’t have a choice when it came to appearing on Counting On, and they would be sued if they refused. However, once he and Jill Duggar became more enlightened, they realized they could easily defend themselves against a lawsuit from the family or TLC.
