Ted Danson And Jane Fonda Apprehended In Washington During Climate Change Protest

According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, this past week, Sam Waterston and Ted Danson were taken into police custody while protesting alongside the actress, Jane Fonda. Following her previous arrest, the actress was apprehended by authorities outside a US Capitol building.

Ted Danson was also there protesting with Fonda, and he was taken into police custody as well. Video evidence showed Danson being taken into custody first, around 12:30 pm in DC. Captured by Hannah Jewell, the video shows Danson handcuffed and being taken away by a police officer while a crowd of people cheers.

When asked if he had ever been arrested before, Danson said “nope.” Following the incident in question, Danson shared a high five with Fonda claims Jewell’s report. Moreover, many of his personal items had been taken away and put in a zip-locked bag.

In another video shared by Fire Drill Fridays, Fonda was shown wearing a red coat and also being apprehended by the police. The actress was handcuffed and taken away as the other protestors laughed and cheered.

Moreover, as it was noted above, Sam Waterston was taken into custody last week as well, and all of those apprehended will be charged with several crimes, including incommoding, obstructing, in addition to crowding. Fonda was charged with these crimes previously as well.

There’s no question that Fonda appears very passionate about climate change, taking to her personal website to say she’ll continue to get arrested until something is done about climate change. Part of her protesting platform is against purported oil industry projects.

On her site, Fonda stated she’ll be on the “Capitol every Friday, rain or shine, inspired and emboldened by the incredible movement our youth have created.” Earlier this year, climate change protests kicked off all over the world, including in Montreal, Canada, Washington DC, United States, Berlin, Germany, as well as in New York City.

Furthermore, in Canada, youth groups announced their intention to file a lawsuit against the Canadian government for failing to act in response to the alleged climate change crisis. However, according to legal experts, laying responsibility on the government will prove difficult to prove in a court of law.
