Sia Reveals She Suffers From A Neurological Disorder

According to a report from Page Six, the singer-songwriter, Sia, recently got candid regarding her health and how she continuously suffers from a neurological disease and its accompanying symptoms.

On Friday, Sia took to her Twitter account to shout out to other sufferers of a neurological disease, stating that she’s in “chronic pain.” The singer stated to her followers that she loved them and wanted them to “keep going.”

According to the website, WebMD, EDS, also called Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, has the effect of weakening the tissue of the body which manifests itself in compromised joints, decreasing the strength of blood vessels, and also leading to thinning skin.

Reportedly, the disease affects around 1 in 30,000 people. The 43-year-old songstress recently dished on her health issues to Billboard reporters in 2013, stating that she fought a prescription medication addiction.

According to Sia, at one point in time in her life, she suffered from a severe addiction to Vicodin as well as Oxycodone, and at that time, she was a heavy drinker but didn’t realize she was an alcoholic. The star said she was unhappy with the idea of being an artist and was only getting more sick as time went on.

Last year, Sia celebrated her first year of sobriety with a post on Twitter, writing, “eight years sober today. I love you, keep going, you can do it.” Another star to suffer from a neurological disease is Lady Gaga, who reportedly battles with fibromyalgia.

According to WebMD, fibromyalgia is a disease that attacks soft tissue as well as muscles. Some of the symptoms include things like trigger points, tender points, sleep issues, tiredness, continuous muscle pain, among others.

The health and wellness organization claims fibromyalgia, however, can be treated with extensive management techniques, including stress management, lifestyle changes, as well as medications. It was back in 2017 when Lady Gaga first revealed she was diagnosed with the illness, and since then, she has increased awareness for those who also deal with it.
