Ann Curry Stands With Matt Lauer’s Rape Accuser Brooke Nevils
Ann Curry is standing with the woman accusing Matt Lauer of rape, Brooke Nevils. The former Today anchor is breaking her silence against her one-time colleague, drawing a clear line in the sand.
On Wednesday, not long after news broke Nevils gave details of the rape, Curry used social media to show her support.
“Brooke Nevils is a credible young woman of good character. She came to NBC News an eager and guileless 20-something, brimming with talent. I believe she is telling the truth. And that breaks my heart,” Tweeted the 62-year-old.
There is no love lost between Curry and Lauer. They lacked on-screen chemistry, which resulted in off-screen tension when the duo co-hosted the morning show from 2011-2012. Curry’s departure was abrupt, emotional, and it was clear she was visibly upset during her farewell speech.
@TheTodayShow was just letting Matt Lauer do whatever the hell he wanted! He treated @AnnCurry like crap, was sleeping with interns, and now we find out he was raping folks at the Sochi Olympics? pic.twitter.com/KFItnCrf69

Reports later surfaced Lauer was instrumental in her departure from Today. After Lauer was fired for sexual misconduct allegations in 2017, Curry revealed she had previously reported him to NBC’s management team for his treatment of women.
“A woman approached me and asked me tearfully if I could help her. She was afraid of losing her job. I believed her. I told management they had a problem, and they needed to keep an eye on him and how he deals with women,” The We’ll Meet Again host, shared with The Washington Post.
NBC responded to The Washington Post regarding Curry’s claims in 2017, stating they could not find any paperwork regarding her complaint against Lauer. There was no note in his personnel file to provide proof of her story.
Ann Curry 100% believes Brooke Nevils’ allegations of rape against Matt Lauer. In Ronan Farrow’s upcoming book, Nevils details the night Lauer allegedly raped her in his hotel room in Sochi, Russia.

Lauer has denied the rape allegations. He claims they had a consensual night of sexual acts.
“The story Brooke tells is filled with false details intended only to create the impression this was an abusive encounter. Nothing could be further from the truth,” read part of his statement to Variety, who published the excerpt of the alleged rape from Farrow’s book.
Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb also spoke out on air regarding the accusations against their former colleagues. They admitted they are still processing the story and news, as they also know Nevils from her days at NBC.
