Patrick Swayze’s Widow Lisa Niemi Talks Life With The Actor Ahead Of New I Am Patrick Swayze Film Debut

Patrick Swayze’s widow Lisa Niemi opened up about her life with the actor, days before the new film I Am Patrick Swayze premieres.

Fans loved him in Dirty Dancing, Road House, Ghost, The Outsiders and so many other iconic Hollywood movies. However, to his beloved wife, there was so much more to the actor than what fans saw on the big screen.

Niemi discussed with Entertainment Tonight not only their life together but what it has been like to live without Swayze for the past ten years.

“Patrick was super hungry for connection. His heart and my heart got along really well. The first time Buddy and I danced together was at a school exhibition. We walked out on stage. I looked in his eyes. It was like everything came alive,” she shared reminiscing about how they met when she was only 14-years-old.

Buddy was a nickname Niemi used to call her late husband. She and the actor were in a relationship for over 30-years before he died from pancreatic cancer.

Swayze was her entire life, but it was not without struggle. She and her famous husband even separated for a short time before his cancer diagnosis.

“It’s the worst thing in the world to go through. You spend every day fighting for that person’s life. I know that he spent every day fighting for his own. He survived 22 months, which was miraculous with the diagnosis that he received, ” the blonde beauty revealed.

Niemi has spent ten years living without Swayze, but that doesn’t mean their relationship is over. She believes they still have a relationship to this day.

“When you lose someone, you never stop loving them, and it’s I feel like I have a different relationship with him now. It’s just, he’s not physically present, you know what I mean?” she explained.

Lisa Niemi, Patrick Swayze’s widow, is getting candid about the actor and their life together. Fans will learn more about their relationship in the Paramount Network film, I Am Patrick Swayze. She is joined by several of his good friends, including Demi Moore, Rob Lowe, Jennifer Grey and C. Thomas Howell who dish about Swayze.

I Am Patrick Swayze premieres August 18th at 9 PM. It is the networks latest installment in the I Am documentaries following I Am Heath Ledger, and I Am Paul Walker.
