Frontman Of Megadeth Dave Mustaine Diagnosed With Throat Cancer

According to a report from NBC News, Dave Mustaine, the frontman of the legendary thrash metal band, Megadeth, was diagnosed recently with throat cancer. He announced the unfortunate news on his Facebook page this Monday.

“I’ve been diagnosed with throat cancer,” the singer remarked, adding that he has faced similar obstacles in his life before, so he’s going to persevere in the face of adversity. His doctors told him he is on a treatment plan that has a 90% success rate, so Dave is certain he’ll come out of it on the positive end.

Unfortunately, however, Mustaine said he and his band would be canceling their scheduled 2019 tour which was a part of the 5-day MegaCruise, scheduled for October. With that said, he and his band are continuing to work on their latest effort following their last record, titled, Dystopia.

Fans of Dave Mustaine know he was first the lead guitarist for the iconic thrash metal band, Metallica, which was formed in Bay Area, California, in the early 1980s. Dave, however, was kicked out of the band in 1983 for heavy drinking as well as confrontational behavior.

Mustaine went on to form Megadeth with David Ellefson as well as Marty Friedman, however, Marty left a few albums later. For many years, there has been an ongoing feud between Metallica members and Dave Mustaine, and Megadeth has been forever cast in the band’s shadow, although, Megadeth has been nearly as successful.

Megadeth produced some of the most legendary albums in the metal genre, including Rust In Peace, Killing Is My Business and Business Is Good, as well as Countdown to Extinction.

Including their latest album, Megadeth has created a whopping sixteen records throughout their extensive career, beginning in the early 1980s alongside Metallica. Megadeth has created six more albums than Metallica however, with Hardwired…To Self-Destruct being the latter’s 10th album in total.
