Super Eagles star player, Iwobi agrees ambassador deal
Super Eagles and Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has agreed a deal to become an ambassador for DStv.
The announcement was made at an autograph signing event that took place at the MultiChoice head office in Lagos during the week.
The cable network said that the 22-year-old Premier League player would be the face of DStv Compact, a ‘value for money package that showcases the best football leagues in the world and general entertainment content at the most affordable price.
"We are pleased that we are bringing the excitement of the new football season even closer to our customers. Iwobi’s energy and the passion he displays on the pitch is what endears him to fans across the world and as such, makes him a good fit for our brand”, said John Ugbe, Managing Director of MultiChoice Nigeria.
Iwobi said of the deal, "It’s an honour to be an Ambassador for DStv. Their passion for promoting sports is unrivaled across Africa.”
Speaking about the tournament to the BBC, the Arsenal youngster said Super Eagles manager, Gernot Rohr was trying out new things at the tournament. "It’s not just me or my tournament, it’s Nigeria’s tournament.
"The coach didn’t put me in that position because he wanted to try something new, try something else, so I had no problems because at the end of the day it is what the manager decides is what goes.
"We had a lot of hopes and believe that we could do well.
We are very proud of ourselves and are going to take the positives of course.
"We are just unfortunate about the last minute goal that came against Argentina led to a defeat that knocked us out of the group. We are taking positives but we are very happy with what we did.
"The squad is young and we picked important lessons that will hopefully help us going forward,” he said.
