Russia 2018 - Ghana coah, Stephen Appiah lists 2 African teams that will do well in Russia

Ghana coach, Stephen Appiah has revealed that theSuper Eaglesof Nigeria and the TerangaLions of Senegal team will perform well at the FIFA 2018 World Cup.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup kicked off yesterday with the host nation, Russia winning Saudi Arabia to a 5-0 defeat.Aside Super Eagles of Nigeria and the TerangaLions of SenegalEgypt, Tunisia, Morocco are also representing Africa in the World Cup.Egypt has played their first match and they losttoUruguaytoday.

The Super Eagles are in Group D with Croatia, Argentina and Iceland and will begin their group campaign againstCroatia on Saturday.Senegal in the other hand will be up against Colombia, Japan and Poland in Group H.And the 57-year-old former Ghanaian international now turnedGhana coach said the trio of Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt will also perform but singled out Nigeria and Senegal for special mention.

He told Soccernet,“Most of the African countries at the WorldCup have got very young squads. And I believe they can surprise many at the tournament.“Nigeria and Senegal are doing well with young players who want to achieve something.“They only need the right mentality for the tournament and they can cause a surprise.

”Super EaglesLegend and Former Nigerian captain, Austin Okocha has predicted thatNigeriaand Argentina will qualify from Group D of the 2018 World Cupin Russia.Okocha stated this whilespeaking as an analyst on SuperSport.“For the first time, we are going into such a tournament without bonus issues, withoutfinancial issues, hopefully with this, there will be a sustained team spirit that will get Eagles through the knockout stages.

“I know Argentina canand why I believe Nigeria can also is that things are changing, for a very long time, we have not had a very consistent team but now the new managerhas gotten young andexperienced players to play together as a team and I see things are changing.

“Yes, our expectations are high which is expected when we have such array of talents, but the issues have been off the pitch, we must give kudos to the Nigeria Football Federation and the players’ managers fordoing a good job,”
