Kristin Cavallari Says She Used to 'Smoke Pot Every Day After School': 'I Was a Bit of a Rebel'

Today, Kristin Cavallari is a mom of three and successful business owner. Needless to say, she’s come a long way since her Laguna Beach days.

On Thursday’s episode of Very Cavallari, the veteran reality star reflected on her wild-child past during a visit to her mom’s house in Barrington, Illinois, with husband Jay Cutler.

“I moved out of Barrington to Laguna Beach to live with my dad because I was getting into a lot of trouble,” she recalled. “And my mom didn’t really know what else to do with me.”

Driving through her old neighborhood with Cutler, Cavallari, 33, couldn’t help but laugh at some of the memories it evoked.

“I went through a phase where I would literally smoke pot every day after school and my mom would call me and be like, ‘Hey, do you want to go get dinner?'” she said. “And I’d be like, ‘F—, I’m so stoned!'”

While Cavallari’s mom Judy is one of her “best friends” now, both admitted they had their differences when the star was growing up. As they reminisced on Cavallari’s teenage years, Judy told a story about Cavallari sneaking out, then coming home drunk and getting stuck while climbing through the bathroom window.

“I can laugh about it now,” Judy said with a chuckle. “I was not laughing then.”

Cavallari acknowledged that indeed, she was no goody two-shoes.

“I started getting into quite a bit of trouble when I was in eighth grade. I would sneak out a lot,” she said. “I started drinking, smoking pot, having sex. I got arrested a couple of times.”

At one point during the visit, Judy pulled out old magazines clippings from her daughter’s years starring in the MTV reality shows Laguna Beach and The Hills. She, Cavallari and Cutler roared with laughter as they skimmed the salacious headlines.

“My life back then was a little wild and crazy,” Cavallari said. “I don’t regret anything, I wouldn’t change it for the world, but I’m just happy that my life evolved. I met Jay, we moved to the suburbs and settled down. And I don’t miss that old life at all, I’m really happy that Jay kind of grounded me.”

As for what she’d tell her younger self?

“I would 22-year-old Kristin to enunciate and quit drinking so much,” she said, cracking up. “I was such a f—ing slob kabob!”

Meanwhile, her former NFL star husband, 36, had a very different upbringing.

“Jay and I were pretty much opposites growing up — I was a bit of a rebel. Jay had to be extremely disciplined because he was always an athlete,” Cavallari explained. “Also, his dad was a police officer. I wouldn’t have gotten into nearly as much trouble if my dad was a cop.”

“We never would have been friends in high school — Jay couldn’t keep up with me!” she continued, adding with a laugh, “He still can’t keep up with me.”

Of course, after moving from Illinois to California to live with her dad, Cavallari was catapulted to fame when she joined the cast of Laguna Beach as a junior in high school.

In her 2016 book, Balancing in Heels, the star admitted that “filming a super-successful reality television show when you are just 17 can do a number on your conception of reality.”

“Like many teenagers, I had no self-awareness and thought only about myself, and that was amplified by starring on Laguna Beach, where I got professional accolades for being outspoken and wild,” she wrote. “Being tough and rebellious felt like my real identity, and I thought I was in total control of my life. But it wasn’t the whole picture. My relationships and the general ups and downs of the that time and immediately after were often manipulated for dramatic effect by TV producers or even myself. Behind the scenes, I was uncomfortable and terrified of getting hurt.”

In the end, though, Cavallari said she doesn’t regret putting her teenage years in the spotlight.

“Don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t trade my experiences on Laguna Beach, and later on The Hills, for the world,” she said. “I had a blast filming the majority of the time and have beautiful footage of special moments with my friends, like prom and graduation. But I struggled with people thinking I was someone I wasn’t. Young girls all over the world were criticizing me for being a bitch, but media outlets loved it.”

While her MTV days are behind her, Cavallari recently told PEOPLE that she’s still in touch with some of her old Laguna and Hills costars.

“I talk to Audrina and Heidi all the time, Brody I’ve kept in touch with,” she said. “Stephen from Laguna Beach and both Alex’s from Laguna Beach, too, so yeah, I definitely still talk to a lot of people.”

Tom Brady Fuels Speculation About His Football Future with Cryptic Photo

Tom Brady sent Patriots fans into a frenzy on Thursday afternoon after sharing a cryptic photo on social media.

The 42-year-old quarterback posted a black-and-white shot of himself in a tunnel of a football stadium — he’s hidden in the shadows, with only his silhouette visible, and the longtime NFL player didn’t add any comment along with the picture shared on both Twitter and Instagram.

The tweet only fueled speculation about whether he will decide to continue to play for the New England Patriots or sign with another team — or retire from the sport altogether (he’s said himself the latter is “pretty unlikely”). The six-time Super Bowl champ becomes a free agent in March.

ESPN reporter Adam Schefter said on Twitter that Brady’s photo on Thursday has nothing to do with his upcoming free agency.

“Am told that this tweet is not related to Tom Brady’s football future,” Schefter shared. “Repeat, not related to his football future. But the speculation sure is fun.”

A rep for Brady had no comment when reached by PEOPLE.

The post garnered plenty of attention from Brady’s fellow athletes.

“It’s not April yet bro chill👀👀,” Brady’s teammate Deatrich Wise Jr. commented on Instagram.

Michael Strahan offered some words of support, writing, “Do you my man! Your life to live and your decisions to live with! 🙌🏾👍🏾

Willie McGinest commented, “Match lit 🔥…….now blow out !”

Speculation about Brady’s future has been swirling since the Patriots lost to the Tennessee Titans in the first week of the playoffs, ending the team’s 2019-2020 season and their Super Bowl run.

In a January segment of WEEI’s The Greg Hill Show hosted by Greg Hill, the host shared that Brady’s suite at Gillette Stadium where the athlete’s wife Gisele Bündchen, 39, usually watches his games had “been cleaned out.”

“It would appear to be, by those who are in the know; that it has been cleaned out in a way that perhaps it has never been cleaned out before,” Hill explained.

And in August 2019, the couple put their Boston mansion on the market for $35 million.

Still, in January, Brady assured fans that he wouldn’t be retiring and alluded to his allegiance to the Patriots.

The superstar quarterback wrote a lengthy, heartfelt message on Instagram to express that he was “so grateful and humbled by the unconditional support” his fans have given him.

“I wish every season ended in a win, but that’s not the nature of sports (or life). Nobody plays to lose,” wrote Brady, who has helped his team clinch six Super Bowl wins. “But the reward for working hard is just that, the work!! I have been blessed to find a career I love, teammates who go to battle with me, an organization that believes in me, and fans who have been behind us every step of the way.”

The longtime athlete went on in his post to praise his team and their work, saying that they have “been rewarded with something that the scoreboard won’t show — the satisfaction of knowing we gave everything to each other in pursuit of a common goal. That is what TEAM is all about.”

“In both life and football, failure is inevitable. You dont always win. You can, however, learn from that failure, pick yourself up with great enthusiasm, and place yourself in the arena again,” Brady continued. “And that’s right where you will find me. Because I know I still have more to prove.”

Are Helicopters Safe? Everything You Need to Know About Flying in the Wake of Kobe Bryant’s Death

The tragic crash that claimed the lives of Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven others on Sunday morning has left many asking if it’s safe to travel by helicopter.

The basketball superstar, 41, and his daughter, 13, were on their way to a youth basketball game when their helicopter went down in the hills of Calabasas, California. Bryant previously shared that he began using helicopters while he still played for the Los Angeles Lakers as a way to spend more time with his family — and less time stuck in traffic. It’s still unclear whether he always chartered his helicopters, or if he personally owned or leased one, but he used them frequently to travel shorter distances.

In the wake of the accident, PEOPLE spoke to experts in the field about the safety of flying in a helicopter and what potential passengers should know.

Are helicopters more dangerous than other forms of transportation?

“There is no form of transportation that is risk-free, and each mode has its advantages and disadvantages,” Dr. Hassan Shahidi, the President and CEO of the non-profit Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) tells PEOPLE. But it’s nearly impossible to accurately compare the safety of different modes of transportation because the data simply doesn’t exist in a way that makes them comparable.

For example, records are kept of the number of car accidents in a set number of days, airplane accidents are officially measured as a proportion of the total number of flights, and the number of helicopter accidents are only recorded per 100,000 flight hours.

RELATED: Kobe & Vanessa Bryant’s Decision to ‘Never Fly’ in Helicopter Together Was ‘Not Fear-Based’: Source

“In the U.S., in the last few years, the rate has hovered around 0.5 to 0.8 fatal helicopter accidents per 100,000 flight hours. There are nearly 40,000 people killed in auto accidents every year. For airline operations, the average has been one fatal accident every two million flights,” Shahidi says.

His bottom line: “When you really look at statistics, walking or riding in a car is more dangerous than flying in a helicopter.” Even in light of the recent accident, he says, “from a statistical standpoint, helicopters are still a safe mode of transportation.”

How common are helicopter fatalities?

Statistics from the United States Helicopter Safety Team show that in 2019, 24 fatal accidents caused 51 fatalities on helicopters in the U.S., for a fatal accident rate of 0.68 per 100,000 flight hours. There were 122 total accidents last year, including those in which no one was killed.

What may make helicopter travel more dangerous than other forms of transportation?

According to Shahidi, helicopter fatalities have decreased significantly over the past three decades due to improvements in technology. Now, the majority of accidents are caused by human error.

“Less and less you have mechanical or technology issues, and more and more you have human factor elements or causes,” Shahidi says.

Mark Millam, the VP Technical at FSF, adds that there are a few challenges that helicopters face that regular planes do not, which add some risks. For one, helicopters fly closer to terrain and in and around the clouds, whereas regular planes typically fly above the clouds, where the air space is more routinely monitored.

“Seeing and avoiding all obstacles can be more difficult in all the locations helicopters are used in,”  he says.

Should you avoid helicopter travel?

Like any form of travel, there are risks involved that need to be weighed.

Shahidi notes that anxiety around helicopter travel tends to go up whenever there is an accident, because it is often covered extensively in the media — more than, say, car crashes, which happen frequently and are viewed as less shocking.

Why would one choose to use a helicopter over other means of transportation?

Typically, people choose to use a helicopter to fly shorter distances, while a regular airplane is used to fly longer distances. While there may only be a few airports in a large city, many have a variety of helipads and heliports.

“You can’t take an airplane very short distances, it’s very difficult. That’s why you have helicopters,” says Shahidi. “They take off and land more often; they’re for very short distances, like 10, 20, 30 miles. They fly at very low altitudes and they’re basically on demand, meaning they’re not scheduled. You want to go somewhere, you get a charter helicopter and you go.”

How can you ensure that your ride on a helicopter is the safest it can be?

Beyond ensuring you are flying in good weather conditions, the first thing the average traveler can do is make sure the helicopter company is regulated by the FAA and other regulatory bodies. According to Shahidi, to operate in most metropolitan cities in the U.S., companies must be compliant with a set of regulations to ensure that their pilots, equipment and aircrafts are safe for transport.

“In many of the metropolitan areas or other sightseeing areas, there are helicopter tours and helicopter operations that are done safely every day,” says Shahidi.

It never hurts to ask or check before booking a helicopter for yourself. If you’re nervous, look into your pilot’s qualifications/training, and the history of accidents on the particular type/operator of the helicopter you will be flying aboard.

The California-based charter company that owned Bryant’s helicopter, Island Express Helicopters, assures on their website that they are a “federally regulated flight operator.” Bloomberg has reported that, prior to Bryant’s crash, Island Express Helicopters had been involved in four crashes in the past 35 years, according to government records, two of which were fatal.

In the case of Bryant’s crash, investigations are still ongoing.

Cheer's Lexi Brumback on How She Was Able to Return to Navarro College After Being Kicked Off Squad

Lexi Brumback from Netflix’s Cheer is opening up about why coach Monica Aldama gave her a second chance to be on the Navarro College cheer squad.

Fans who have already watched the docu-series will remember that Lexi was kicked off the squad after their big win at the NCA Collegiate National Championship in Daytona, Florida, when illegal substances were found in her car.

“I just want to prove to everyone that I’m not my mistakes,” Lexi says in a video released by Netflix on Thursday. “I’m what I make of them.”

The talented tumbler explained in the video that Monica has a “zero-tolerance policy” when it comes to her cheerleaders breaking rules, something that was touched upon in the show as well.

“It was a very sad day when we had to have that talk,” Monica said in the Thursday video, adding that both she and Lexi cried the day that she had to kick her off the squad. “We both knew that it was necessary, but we both didn’t want it to happen.”

“Her skill obviously is top-notch, she’s one of the best I’ve ever seen,” Monica said of her decision to let Lexi join again.

“But more importantly, I felt like she still needed me in her life, so when they reached out to me about giving her a second chance, I felt like not being able to come back in the fall semester, it was plenty of time for her to reflect and just get to a place where she kind of understood what she did wrong and where she needs to improve and decisions she needs to make,” the award-winning coach explained.

“She really saw my potential and just didn’t give up on me whenever I was making wrong decisions. I just really want to prove to her that she wasn’t mistaken when she took me back,” Lexi said. “I’m really glad she did.”

The athlete added that the attention Cheer has gotten since its debut on Netflix has only made her want to strive to be the best she can be.

“The whole world is watching us now,” she said. “It really makes you want to do nothing but good and I just want to prove to everyone I’m not my mistakes. I’m what I make of them. It’s what I make myself into after that.”

In the final episode of Cheer, Lexi’s All Star coach and Navarro Cheer alum Calvin Beene explained what happened that led to her being kicked off the team: “I think they had a week of school left, and she got pulled over. She was in a car with a couple people. But there was some illegal stuff in the car, and Lexi’s the type of person to not snitch on anybody. So Lexi ended up taking the blame.”

Aldama said in that episode that while there have “been multiple times where I’ve had to let people go” from the team, she doesn’t “ever just shut the door and tell them I’m done with them.”

“I want to help as many kids as I can. I mean, that’s the reason I do this job. That’s what brings me joy,” she added. “But you know, sometimes those kids make it through, and sometimes they don’t. And as much as I want to give them a second chance, if you don’t uphold the rules, then why have the rules?”

Lexi revealed that she was back on the team with an Instagram post on Jan. 14, about a week after she had posted a video of herself tumbling marking her “come back” to cheer after several months off.

“Honey, I’m home 🍯😘 #fiofmu,” she wrote in the caption for the snap, which featured her and fellow teammates TT Barker, Dillon Brandt, and Jeremiah Harris.

Winning $396.9 Million Powerball Ticket Sold in Florida

One lucky lottery player is walking away with a major jackpot!

A single Powerball ticket sold in Florida matched all the numbers of 9-12-15-31-60 (with the Powerball’s number being 2) during a Wednesday night drawing, the Florida Lottery Commission announced on Thursday.

While the top prize was originally advertised to be $394 million, the actual winnings ended up amounting to $396.9 million at the time of the draw, according to Powerball. The jackpot was rolled 24 times since the November 6, 2019 drawing, adding more than $33 million in contributions to the Educational Enhancement Trust Fund.

The winning ticket was purchased from a 7-Eleven in Bonita Springs. The store will receive $100,000 for selling the ticket.

The winner, who has yet to be identified, has 180 days from the date of the draw to claim the prize. The lucky player can also choose to accept a one-time, lump-sum cash payout of $276.5 million, though they will need to make that claim within 60 days of the drawing.

According to Powerball, Wednesday night’s draw also produced one $1 million winner, who purchased the the ticket at M&S Food Store in Coconut Creek, Fla. The retailer will receive $1,000 for selling that ticket.

Last May, a single Powerball ticket sold in Wisconsin matched all six numbers to win a $768.4 million jackpot, the third-largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history. The prize was the largest in the state’s history, according to a release from the Wisconsin Lottery.

“This is an amazing milestone moment for Wisconsin,” said Wisconsin Lottery Director Cindy Polzin at the time. “It truly is incredible to think that the winning ticket for this historic jackpot was sold in our own backyard. I am extremely excited for the winners and for our state. This event puts us in the national spotlight and turns Wisconsin into WINsconsin.”

The odds of hitting all six numbers required for the jackpot are 1 in 292,201,338, according to the Florida Lottery Commission.

Atlanta Father of 3 Badly Burned in New Zealand Volcano Eruption Dies 1 Month After His Wife

Three young children have been left parentless after their father died from injuries sustained in the New Zealand volcano eruption, which followed their mother’s death just five weeks earlier.

Pratap “Paul” Singh, 49, died at Middlemore Hospital in New Zealand on Jan. 28 after suffering severe burns to 55 percent of his body, his nephew Vick said in a statement on behalf of the family.

His death comes a little over a month after his wife Mayuari “Mary” Singh passed away at the same hospital on Dec. 22, following complications with skin graft procedures to treat her burns, which covered 72 percent of her body.

“Throughout his surgeries and treatment process, he fought bravely and battled hard for 50 days – the doctors described him as a ‘fighter,'” Vick wrote of his uncle, who he said shared an 11-year-old son with Mary, as well as 6-year-old twin daughters.

“The heavenly couple lived a fascinating life together serving as the ‘central hub’ for everyone around them,” Vick continued. “We are all left shattered and heartbroken. Their love is priceless, their presence is irreplaceable.”

“We miss them dearly and their memories are going to stay fresh in our hearts and minds for the times to come,” he went on. “This changes everything, a new normal might be impossible to achieve for our family.”

Vick described his uncle as “a dynamic leader, genuinely kind-hearted, very spiritual individual” who had a “charismatic personality” and was “well-known in the metro-Atlanta community for his philanthropic and social service activities.”

Some of those activities included serving as the president of SEVA International Atlanta USA chapter, being involved with local temples and leading a Sponsor-A-Child initiative, which helps fund education and health care for underprivileged children.

“My uncle Paul will be remembered as an invincible businessman, a passionate social worker/educator, a transparent decision-maker, an event liaison and a celebrated member of the Indian-American community,” Vick wrote. “His unmatched exuberance and unconditional love for everyone around him will forever be missed.”

“He was the best father, best guardian, best brother, best uncle, best volunteer and the best friend anyone could wish,” Vick continued. “The entire family grew and thrived under his leadership.”

“You will meet a person like Pratap Singh only once in your lifetime, you know that. We love his indomitable spirit and incorrigible attitude — there is absolutely no one like him. Many have a good heart, but he has a huge one,” he added.

RELATED: Deadly Volcano Was a ‘Disaster Waiting to Happen’ — and Warnings Were Ignored as Tourism Continued

Vick also spoke to his aunt’s passing, noting that Mary, 42, was “a true supermom, a responsible guardian, an ambitious professional, and an endearing friend who enjoyed sharing her culinary expertise and delicious homemade meals.”

“She was one of a kind — we love her, we miss her so much,” he added.

In the wake of their deaths, Vick called on New Zealand officials to reevaluate their safety precautions when it comes to volcano tourism — something he believes could have prevented this tragedy.

“I seriously request and encourage volcano tourism in NZ and around the world to charter proper safety equipment including appropriate heat resistant gear/clothing, safety glasses, helmets and face masks,” Vick wrote. “Proper safety equipment would have saved my family.”

“Tours should not be operated without comprehensive disclosure of risks associated, and a complete assessment of geothermal and seismic activity,” he added.

Paul’s death marks the 21st person to die from the volcanic eruption, which unfolded at White Island in New Zealand. Of those victims, police said 19 died in New Zealand, while two died in Australia.

The fatal blast occurred on Monday, Dec. 9, just after 2 p.m. while 47 travelers — who were from the United States, Australia, China, Germany, Malaysia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom — were on the island, police confirmed.

Thirty-eight of the tourists were traveling on Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Ovation of the Seas, the New Zealand Herald reported.

As victims continue to receive treatment in intensive care and burn units across New Zealand, authorities are investigating whether it was safe to have tourism at the active volcano, the Herald reported.

R. Kelly's Ex Azriel Clary Claims She Was 'Abused' and 'Brainwashed' by the Singer

R. Kelly‘s former girlfriend Azriel Clary is claiming the singer verbally and physically abused her while they were together.

During a recent interview with The Sun, Clary, 22, said she was abused and brainwashed by Kelly, whose real name is Robert Kelly. R. Kelly’s lawyer denies the claims Clary made in her interview with The Sun.

Azriel first met Kelly, 53, when she was just 17 and soon went on to become one of his five live-in girlfriends, she told The Sun.

She explained to the outlet that Kelly gave her the title of being his “number one girl” and promised to marry her one day.

However, she told The Sun their romance took a dark turn when he began forcing her to have group sex with him and other men as well as other women up to five times a day.

If she or other women didn’t do as they were told, Clary claimed that Kelly would beat them or get the women to beat each other up.

Clary went on to allege that Kelly would also get jealous if she was in contact with anyone other than him.

“I was talking to my friends from high school and he didn’t like that I was still talking to them. He thought that I was keeping things from him. I was just in communication with two of my girlfriends and he made me text them a very long lie, basically saying why I no longer wanted to be friends with them. And then he beat me, he abused me verbally and then he beat physically,” Clary told The Sun. “Then he beat me with a shoe — a size 12, Nike Air Force One shoe.”

“He beat me all over, it felt like hours and I was covered in welts all the way from my neck down,” Clary alleged.

After the beating, Clary told The Sun that Kelly later apologized “and sobbed and cried.”

Still, the abuse didn’t stop, Clary said. “Sexual abuse did happen regularly.”

Clary alleged that he continued to have control on her and Kelly’s other girlfriend Joycelyn Savage even after he went to jail in July.

“MCC is on the left side of the street and there’s a train that runs straight in front of the MCC in Chicago,” Clary told The Sun.

RELATED: R. Kelly Girlfriend Azriel Clary Screams She Had Sex as ‘a Minor’ During Fight with Joycelyn Savage

“So, every day he would make us go up there and stand up there and wave to him at four o’clock through the window of the jail,” Clary alleged to The Sun.

Despite the traumatic occurrences, Clary remained supportive of Kelly in public — something she said she now regrets.

Clary told The Sun she lied during her and Savage’s March 2019 interview with Gayle King for CBS This Morning.

“I was very naive and very brainwashed and manipulated by him,” Clary told The Sun. “I’m grown enough to admit that yes, I was brainwashed. Yes, this man did have me wrapped around his finger. If he would have told me to jump, I would have said, ‘How high?'”

“It was all because I just genuinely just loved him and I love hard,” Clary told The Sun.

While Clary managed to leave the relationship, she explained it won’t be easy for other women to.

“Robert has his live-in girlfriends, he has girlfriends in every city. He has flings in every city. For the most part he blackmails everyone. He makes everyone do very degrading stuff, whether on film or writing it down, he makes them sign it,” Clary alleged to The Sun.

“I think a lot of women are ashamed or embarrassed to come out because of stuff like that because it’ll be incriminating them — there’s so much stuff,” she told the news outlet.

Kelly’s attorney Steve Greenberg denied these claims in a statement, telling PEOPLE, “We are shocked to learn that Ms. Clary is making these allegations. They are false. What she now says is directly contrary to truth, and the facts that have been brought forward by Ms. Clary in the past.

“It is also directly contrary to what we expect to be the proof. As with other ‘accusers’, the lack of proof and their past actions impeach them,” Greenberg adds. “In sum, Ms. Clary had a long-term consensual relationship with Mr. Kelly. It continued after he was arrested, when she was free to do as she wished.”

“It is clear that she now seeks to personally capitalize from their relationship, and the only way to do so is to parrot the false narrative, egged on by her father,” Greenberg continues. “The allegations are not true. Still, Mr. Kelly bears only good will towards Ms. Clary.”

After several years of not seeing her loved ones, Clary was reunited with her family earlier this month.

The reunion came after Clary was involved with an alleged fight with Savage inside of Kelly’s Trump Tower condo in Chicago.

After the fight, Azriel’s mom Alice confirmed to PEOPLE that her daughter was back in contact with her family.

“P.S – everyone will be posting own fave photos so make sure y’all follow the family! #ontherunwithazriel,” she concluded.

Azriel’s mother revealed to PEOPLE that she couldn’t be happier to reunite with her daughter.

“The battle is won because she’s still here, she’s still alive, she’s still breathing and though she lost a few years of her life, she’s still here to tell her story,” Alice said. “Because I chose not to keep her secluded in her life, she’s here now and we’re able to say the victory is won because she finally came to her senses.”

Kelly is currently being held without bail in federal prison in Chicago after being arrested on several sex crime charges, including child pornography, racketeering and obstruction of justice in both Illinois and New York, PEOPLE previously reported. He pleaded not guilty to all of those charges.

Most recently, the singer pleaded not guilty to a racketeering charge brought forward by federal prosecutors in Brooklyn last month.

Kelly, who was also interviewed by King in March, broke down in tears, denying every allegation against him.

Island Express Helicopters Temporarily Suspends Operations After Kobe Bryant's Fatal Crash

Island Express Helicopters — the company that owned the aircraft Kobe Bryant, his daughter Gianna and seven other passengers were on when it crashed in Calabasas, California on Sunday — has temporarily suspended its operations in the wake of the tragic incident.

A representative for the Long Beach-based company told PEOPLE on Thursday that Island Express Helicopter has suspended flight services for Thursday and Friday.

The company, which charters flights as well as transportation services to and from Catalina Island, will reach out to its clients should they continue to suspend their operations past those dates, the spokesperson said.

Bryant, 41, and his daughter Gianna, 13, were reportedly on their way to a youth basketball game in Thousand Oaks with parents and players from the Mamba Sports Academy girls’ team when the Sikorsky S-76B helicopter they were on crashed into a hill. The two died alongside pilot Ara ZobayanSarah and Payton ChesterChristina MauserJohn Altobelli, his wife Keri Altobelli and their daughter, Alyssa Altobelli.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragedy. Our top priority is providing assistance to the families of the passengers and the pilot. We hope that you will respect their privacy at this extremely difficult time,” Island Express Helicopters said in a statement at the time. “We are working closely with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) to investigate the cause of the accident and we are grateful to the first responders and local authorities for their response to this unimaginable accident.”

During a press conference on Tuesday, the National Transportation Safety Board said the helicopter could have potentially avoided the hill had it been flying 20 to 30 feet higher.

However, NTSB investigator Bill English also noted that there were still surrounding hills that would have required an even higher altitude for clearance.

“It’s important to realize that there’s not one hill,” English said. “It’s a ravine with undulating terrain, so the small outcropping that had the main impact in it, the main impact was about 20 to 30 feet from the top of that small hill. But there are actually other higher hills surrounding it.”

According to the federal agency, the aircraft — which had been flying in extremely foggy conditions — plunged over “2,000 feet per minute” before crashing into a mountain, in what the NTSB described as a “high-energy impact crash.”

Investigators said the helicopter was not equipped with a terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS), a cockpit voice recorder (CVR), flight data recorders (FDR) or black boxes — tools they believe could have helped the pilot during the flight.

Bryant — who is survived by wife Vanessa, 37, and their daughters Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and Capri, 7 months — previously shared he began using helicopters while he still played for the Los Angeles Lakers as a way to spend more time with his family.

“I was sitting in traffic and I wound up missing like a school play,” he told Alex Rodriguez in a 2018 interview. “I had to figure out a way where I could still train and focus on the craft but still not compromise family time.”

“So that’s when I looked into helicopters, to be able to get down and back in 15 minutes and that’s when it started,” he added at the time.

Lori Loughlin and Mossimo Giannulli List Multi-Million Dollar Mansion Amid College Admissions Scandal

Lori Loughlin and husband Mossimo Giannuli have listed their multi-million dollar mansion where they had been “laying low” amidst the college admissions scandal.

The couple, who could end up facing years in prison for their alleged involvement in the scandal, have listed their mansion for almost $28.7 million TMZ reported Thursday.

Sources reportedly told the outlet that the sale has “nothing” to do with the scandal, but that the couple is “following Mossimo’s passion for architecture.”

Loughlin and Giannuli used the property as collateral for their $2 million bail for the fraud charges, PEOPLE reported in March of last year.

U.S. District Judge Alexander MacKinnon reportedly told Giannuli in court at the time that the government could foreclose on the residence if the terms of his release were violated, the New York Daily News reported.

The 12,000 square-foot mansion includes six bedrooms and nine bathrooms, a large swimming pool, outdoor courtyard, two living rooms, formal dining room and an eat-in chef’s kitchen.

RELATED: All About Lori Loughlin’s $35 Million Mansion Where She’s ‘Laying Low’ Amid Cheating Scam

Loughlin and Giannuli tried to sell the home for $35 million in 2017, Variety reported at the time, after purchasing it in 2015 for $13.995 million.

Loughlin and Giannuli are accused of paying $500,000 to admissions consultant Rick Singer (and his nonprofit organization, Key Worldwide Foundation) to falsely designate daughters Olivia Jade Giannulli, 20, and Isabella Rose Giannulli, 21, as recruits to the University of Southern California crew team, even though neither of them ever participated in the sport.

It is also alleged that the family even took photos of Olivia and Isabella on rowing equipment to perpetuate the ruse.

In October 2019, the parents were charged with one count each of conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery in addition to charges of money laundering conspiracy, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud and honest services mail and wire fraud.

Both have pleaded not guilty on the counts against them.

A source close to the actress told PEOPLE last month that the Full House star did not realize she was doing anything illegal.

Lori was hoodwinked by Rick Singer,” the source said. “There’s no other way to put it. She was convinced that she was making a donation, just like parents have been doing for years.”

“She did not have any intent to do something illegal, and in fact, she thought she was doing the right thing,” the source said. “That’s why she hasn’t pleaded guilty; frankly, she believes that she is innocent and that the evidence shown in court will prove that. Unfortunately, it seems as though the prosecution is hell-bent on making examples out of people, and not playing fair.”

Lakers Stars LeBron James and Anthony Davis Honor Kobe Bryant with Mamba-Inspired Tattoos

Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James appeared to debut a new tattoo in honor of the late Kobe Bryant, who died on Jan. 26 in a helicopter crash that claimed the lives of his 13-year-old daughter and seven more victims.

In a short video posted to his Instagram Story on Wednesday, James, 35, revealed he was in the process of getting a tattoo on his left thigh. Though James didn’t unveil the finished design, photographers caught a glimpse of his new body art during a team workout on Thursday morning.

Because the ink is covered by a clear bandage, it’s difficult to decipher exactly what artist Vanessa Aurelia tattoed on the three-time NBA champion. Photos appear to show a snake, in reference to Bryant’s “Black Mamba“ nickname, along with the words, “Mamba 4 Life.”

Meanwhile, Lakers star Anthony Davis also shared a video of himself receiving a similar tattoo from Aurelia, but he, too, hasn’t revealed what he received.

Aurelia did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.

According to TMZ, James will debut the ink on social media this week, likely before the Lakers take on the Portland Trailblazers on Friday at Staples Center. The home game will be the first time the Lakers take to the court following the fatal crash.

Though James has yet to address the media in-person following role model Bryant’s death, he posted the first of two Instagram tributes to the 41-year-old on Monday night.

“I’m Not Ready but here I go. Man I sitting here trying to write something for this post but every time I try I begin crying again just thinking about you, niece Gigi and the friendship/bond/brotherhood we had!” James said of Bryant, who won five championships in 20 seasons with the Lakers.

Later on, Bryant congratulated James on the milestone with a message on Instagram. “On to #2 @kingjames!” Bryant wrote. “Keep growing the game and charting the path for the next.”

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka Mourns Deaths of 'Best Friend' Kobe Bryant and 'Sweet Goddaughter' Gianna

Kobe Bryant‘s longtime agent and close confidant Rob Pelinka is devastated by the deaths of the NBA icon and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

On Thursday, Pelinka, who serves as Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager of the Los Angeles Lakers, released an emotional statement about the Jan. 26 helicopter crash that killed Kobe, Gianna and seven more victims in Calabasas, California.

“I lost my best friend and my sweet goddaughter. With that, there has been an amputation of part of my soul,” began Pelinka, 50, who left Landmark Sports Agency to join the Lakers organization in 2017.

“Kobe was a force of nature, deep and obsessed with excellence. He was wise, determined, passionate. A visionary beyond measure. A dedicated and loving husband, and a ‘girl-dad’ like no other,” he continued. “When he walked into a room, the energy ignited. He was high voltage, with a motor that had no limits. His mind had an infinite capacity to learn. He was, simply put, the most inspirational athlete of our time. What the world may not know, is that he was also the best friend anyone could ever imagine.”

Pelinka, who is a father of two, also shared loving words for his goddaughter Gianna.

“Gigi was pure joy. Her smile brought comfort to any and every occasion. She was brilliant, kind and warm. And, like her dad, when she stepped onto the basketball court, she took on an entirely different nature, and boy could she play,” he wrote. “Her basketball destiny was apparent, and the world knew it. She was also an extraordinary, loyal and supportive sister, and a wonderful friend to my children. My son and daughter always left time with Gigi feeling better about life itself. Everything Gigi stood for, I am so proud of.”

Kobe and Gigi are survived by Vanessa Bryant, 37, as well as Natalia, 17, Bianka, 3, and 7-month-old Capri. The father-daughter pair were two of nine victims killed in the crash, along with John AltobelliKeri AltobelliAlyssa AltobelliSarah Chester, Payton ChesterChristina Mauser and pilot Ara Zobayan.

RELATED: Kobe Bryant’s Sweetest Family Photos

Quoting late author Maya Angelou (“When great trees fall … lions hunker down in tall grasses”), Pelinka continued: “What I am daily learning is that after the tragic loss of these nine souls, life on this side of eternity will never be the same. For any of us who knew them, there is an irreplaceable void left behind. But I am also finding that there is a hope. For now, each new step for me will be full of deep love and prayers, as a heavy sorrow for Vanessa, Natalia, Bianka, and Capri, and all the families involved, is slowly redeemed into something healed and new. I am coming to realize that nothing can separate any of us from the love and inspiration we’ve received from Kobe and Gianna, nothing at all.”

And Pelinka, who was present at the team’s practice on Wednesday, concluded his tribute with a hopeful message. “Their lives have shown me that death has no victory. Last Sunday is not the end of the story. It’s just a new beginning. Kobe and Gigi’s legacies will live on – and gain even more power and influence. All of us touched by them will now try to become torch carriers of their legacies,” he wrote, adding, “And, while we do that, we can be certain of this: Kobe and Gigi will continue on, forever, playing a joy-filled game of basketball in heaven above.”

RELATED: An NBA Legend, Loving Parents, 3 Teens & a Pilot: All 9 Victims of the Calabasas Helicopter Crash

Pelinka’s statement was released on the same day as Los Angeles Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss, who broke her silence on Instagram.

Buss — who took over as owner of the Lakers following the death of her father, Jerry Buss, in 2013 — reflected on Bryant’s importance to her family and to the franchise he called home for 20 years.

“Kobe, I don’t know how to express what you mean to me, my family and the Los Angeles Lakers. My father loved you like a son, which makes us family,” she wrote in the post, which included a picture of herself and the Bryant family on the way to the NBA All-Star Game in 2016.

Bryant and Buss knew each other for more than two decades. After Bryant was selected by the Charlotte Hornets in the 1996 NBA Draft, he soon became a Laker as her father approved a trade for him that day. Buss has held multiple executive roles with the team throughout her career.

One day prior to Buss and Pelinka’s statements, widow Vanessa Bryant made her first public statements.

Speaking to fans and followers about the loss of her “adoring” husband and their “beautiful, sweet” daughter Gianna, the mother of four wrote, “We are also devastated for the families who lost their loved ones on Sunday, and we share in their grief intimately. There aren’t enough words to describe our pain right now,” adding, “I take comfort in knowing that Kobe and Gigi both knew that they were so deeply loved. We were so incredibly blessed to have them in our lives. I wish they were here with us forever. They were our beautiful blessings taken from us too soon.”

Vanessa continued: “I’m not sure what our lives hold beyond today, and it’s impossible to imagine life without them. But we wake up each day, trying to keep pushing because Kobe, and our baby girl, Gigi, are shining on us to light the way. Our love for them is endless — and that’s to say, immeasurable. I just wish I could hug them, kiss them and bless them. Have them here with us, forever.”

In her statement, she also announced that the Mamba Sports Foundation set up the MambaOnThree Fund to “help support the other families affected by this tragedy.”

Fotis Dulos, Estranged Husband of Missing Conn. Mom, Dead 2 Days After Suicide Attempt

The estranged husband of missing Connecticut mom Jennifer Farber Dulos — who is charged with her murder – has died 2 days after attempting suicide, NBC News, the Hartford Courant, and WFSB report.

On January 30, Fotis Dulos, 52, of Farmington, was pronounced dead at the Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx where he was flown by helicopter Tuesday from the UConn Health in Farmington, where he was initially transported.

His lawyer, Norm Pattis, announced Dulos’ death Thursday evening. Pattis also said Dulos’ family flew in from Greece to try to harvest his organs.

In a statement to ABC, Pattis said, “Mr. Dulos was tried and convicted in the court of public opinion. Now he has been executed. We remain committed to demonstrating he did not murder Jennifer.”

Just before noon on Tuesday, officers found the father of five sitting in his running car inside the garage of his Farmington home with “obvious signs of medical distress,” Farmington Police Lt. Tim McKenzie said at a Tuesday press conference.

Documents on Thursday revealed Dulos had left behind a suicide note proclaiming his innocence in the murder of his wife, WFSB reports.

Officers performed CPR on Dulos, who was alone at the residence at the time, said McKenzie.

Dulos had apparently attached a hose to the tailpipe of his vehicle and sat inside with the doors closed while his new girlfriend had gone to the store, sources tell The Hartford Courant.

Officers were sent to his home for a well-being check when Dulos failed to appear for an emergency bond hearing in Stamford Tuesday.

The hearing was scheduled to determine whether the $6 million bond he posted after being arrested on Jan. 7 for the murder of his estranged wife would be revoked, sending him back to jail.

Earlier that morning, Dulos learned that that the company that had initially insured the bond had said the collateral he put up to cover the bond was problematic, The Courant reports.

But later that day, another bail bonds company said it could insure the bond, The Courant reports.

Dulos’ attorney, Norm Pattis, who spoke to him before the suicide attempt, said he was shocked.

“Obviously the potential for a bond revocation was devastating news to him, but throughout he has been a fighter and resolute, so this development comes as stunning news to me,” Pattis told NBC Connecticut.

Dulos was charged with the murder in the presumed death of his estranged, still-missing wife seven months after the Connecticut mother of five vanished from her New Canaan home after dropping her children off at school.

He pleaded not guilty to the murder charge, court records show.

At the time, she and Dulos were involved in a contentious divorce and custody battle. Police allege that on May 24, Dulos was “lying in wait” and attacked his estranged wife in her garage on the day she died, court documents show.

His girlfriend at the time, Michelle Troconis, and his civil lawyer, Kent Mawhinney, were charged with conspiracy to commit murder, according to Connecticut State Police. Mawhinney, who does not have an attorney, has pleaded not guilty. Troconis has not yet entered a plea to that charge, court records show.

Fotis and Troconis were charged earlier with evidence tampering in connection with Jennifer’s disappearance. Both pleaded not guilty to that charge as well.

Attorneys for Troconis and Dulos did not immediately return PEOPLE’s calls for comment.

Chloë Sevigny Shows Off Baby Bump with Bikini Pic on Vacation in Turks and Caicos

Mocktail, anyone?

Chloë Sevigny is enjoying a babymoon in Turks and Caicos with boyfriend Sinisa Mackovic — and showing off her baby bump from the beach!

The 45-year-old actress shared a photo on Thursday, writing in the caption, “#mocktailsandmoonbeams,” and tagging Mackovic as the photographer.

In the snap, Sevigny stands with her hands on her hips, sporting a blue and yellow bikini and a big floppy hat.

PEOPLE confirmed earlier this month that Sevigny is expecting her first child with Mackovic after the pair were spotted on a stroll in New York City together. The duo were seen smiling together as Mackovic embraced her baby bump before sharing a kiss.

While Sevigny has not yet revealed the gender of her child, she told Who What Wear in 2018 that she “better have a daughter soon” so that she can pass down some of her favorite vintage clothes.

“I have pieces that I wore over and over again in high school. My collection is vast and exhaustive and a little embarrassing,” the Lizzie star told the outlet. “Just all the pieces that I hold and think about what was happening when I was wearing them. The sense memory of that.”

“I still have the shirt I wore in the movie Kids. I have the bunny ears I made for Gummo. I have all kinds of weird articles from different characters I’ve played, photoshoots, events,” she added. “My Oscar dress. It’s embarrassing. I better have a daughter soon or I don’t know what’s gonna happen.”

The Oscar nominee spoke to W Magazine in 2016, crediting her youthful appearance to not have having a baby yet.

“I think it’s not having had a baby yet. Because I think the baby wear and tear and stress on your body is part of the reason why people say, ‘Why do you still look so young?’” she told the outlet. “I really think that that unfortunately ages women, especially when they have children in their 30s, not in their 20s. So I think, first and foremost, it’s that and genetics.”

Earlier this month, Sevigny posted a series of artistic black-and-white photographs that also showed off her bump, writing in the caption a series of emojis that included a baby bottle and a hatching chick: “🐣💜👶🏻🤰🏼🥳🍼😈🕺🏻.”

The “Yummy” singer, 25, debuted a new tattoo when he stepped out in Los Angeles on Thursday, showing off a laurel wreath design inked around his neck while visiting the Dogpound gym in West Hollywood.

Bieber was photographed with the fresh ink peeking out from under the collar of his white tank top. He capped off his casual gym look with a gray fleece pullover and a matching knitted beanie.

In another, Bieber poses shirtless with a towel wrapped around his waist while standing on a bath mat.
